My boyfriend's fuel pump went out on his work truck after he had fixed some other issues and it was getting late so we just decided to get it towed from Kahului where it broke down to my place in Wailuku. I called everywhere and everyone was $185+ because it was after 8pm. Some places were also closed or didn't have drivers available. I found D&D Towing here on yelp and they quoted us $150+ tax. We were also told it would be 20 minutes and they pulled up in about 5 minutes. The guy on the phone I talked to was super nice and the tow truck driver was super nice too. I called D&D yesterday to schedule an appointment for a tow for the COM tow program. I believe it was Heather(?) who helped me set an appointment. Amazingly there was an appointment for today. She was great in helping me make sure I had everything filled out and needed for the tow and what to expect to is morning. Pomai was our driver this morning. He hooked up our van really quick, talked a little story,laughed a bit and we were on our way! We got to Hammerheads,he took care of the van and came to explain how it works after the drop off. I see that this towing company got mixed reviews, but I believe that it is my experience with this towing company that counts. After struggling with AAA and other unreliable towing companies that never showed up, Kamuela from D and D towing did arrive, and eager to help with my tow and explainEd things to me, though I could have used a little heads up that he was arriving. Nevertheless, Daniel (Kamuela) tried his best and pushed my car, which was not running, and is very heavy by himself out of the driveway and onto the street, while I was trying to steer without power steering working. He then towed my car to the repair shop, so as far as I am concerned, I would recommend this towing company because Kamuela at least showed up for me, and successfully towed my car to the repair shop. read more

The owner, Duane Meyers, while towing a car off my friend's property, sped by me 3/4 into my lane on a very rural curvy road up Piiholo in a large tow truck causing me to swerve way out of his way. After i threw an arm out the window and yelling "come on", he yelled "F^#* you haole" and sped off. I turned around to chat after finding the driveway him pulled into to tow my friends car. After explaining that I've lived a long time up there and my wife and I just gave birth on this road and our community looks out for each other and tries to hold people accountable for crazy driving and please don't speed, he again racially insulted me, told me he'd lived on island longer, and told me to f*#% off and leave as he was trying to work. I explained I simply wanted him to not speed or kill anyone by going that speed in the wrong lane. He said his truck would spin out if he slowed down. I mentioned he could go up and around a different way to avoid speeding and hurting someone. He didn't care. I left and called the company. I lodged a complaint using the name he mentioned "Julio", and the receptionist mentioned they didn't have a truck in the area that it happened, although they do have a guy by that name working for them, and she mentioned in fact that they'd had complaints from others but someone was using their name and number and truck stickers illegally from another company posing as them. Really? After making some calls to local friends I found out I spoke with his wife who was covering up that Duane Meyers owns D&D towing and Julio is their code name to keep his "professional" business attitude and demeanor out of trouble. This is absolutely pathetic as a business owner, let alone a human being. I am sick of business owners thinking because they have a monopoly on a service they can act however they want. Have some respect and learn some manors. I hope this helps any prospective clients look elsewhere and keeps D&D towing accountable in our community!!! ..... Still to this day. This company is VERY POORLY RUN. I used to deal will this guy's 7 years ago. You ask them to drop the car in one place, they drop out where they like. Today, I hear people complaining about them again. 1, some time ago, my niece had her car towed from Hana. Was told to bring car to her home in Pukalani. They towed the car to their lot. Than they wanted her to pay for the tow on top of storage fees. 2, I hear that they were going to leave a job, to fix/change a flat tire. Just because the driver/customer asked if he was d & d employee, cause he came in a different marked vehicle. 3, they tried to get a second tow, off of the same vehicle. Towed the car from beach to Wailea office, wanted pay. Than wanted to tow car to Kahului office and get paid for that too. 4, past experience, my friend's car and truck, was marked abandoned in front of their own house. Not even a day of getting marked, they were taken that afternoon. Friend can home noticed cars gone, went to their place to check on vehicles. Wheels from both vehicles were gone, insides were stripped. They don't know what happen to them... This company still in business and I wander why... read more

Overall really bad customer service. State Farm had our car stored at an IAA lot by Hawaiian Cement across from the animal shelter, which is ran by D&D towing. When I got there I drove into a restricted area stupid of me I know but there weren't any do not enter signs and I figured I should park as close as I can to the car to get my belongings. I guess a worker tried flagging me down but I didn't see him wave his hand, so another worker came to approach the car telling us to turn around through the window. No problem, I tried backing up but I could tell he was still trying to talk so I rolled down the window. To which he starts aggressively starts yelling that we need to turn around and get out of here or he'll call the cops. And without a single pause for a breath or a moment to wait for a response back looks at me dead in the eye and YELLS "WHATCHU LOOKIN AT!?" As if he wanted to fight... This is a full grown man wanting to a fight a NINE MONTH OBVIOUSLY PREGO LADY. I was seriously caught off guard by the unprofessionalism/ aggressiveness & It could've been handled better to say the least. To make it worse when my fiancé finally got to the car to get my things, he said it looked like they had gone through everything in the car. Stuff was out of place, and my trash bag that had my comforter tightly closed in it was ripped open. I didn't get an apology from the guy either and I left without my comforter since it was all open and messed with. Long story short, I recommend they put do not enter signs in those areas so they don't have to deal with that in the future and for anyone that plans on going to that lot, DONT. This company is absolutely horrible. I am filing a complaint with the department of consumer affairs. They charged me $718 to tow my car from Makawao to Kahului (16 miles according to their own count)! When we went there to get my sons backpack from the trunk so he could fo to school, the woman that works there started SCREAMING that we had to leave their property that they would call the police because we were trespassers! Always screaming and getting too close to us, we felt physically threatened. Our car is a very nice BMW and we were told by another towing company thaf they do this all the time: if your car is nice they charge you a lot more because they know you will have to pay to get your car back. You have to pay in cash and they wont even let you close to tour own car! They basically are stealing your car and doing blackmail with you because tour car is in their property and they won't give it to you unless you pay whatever they decide, based on the value of tour car. Thieves, dishonest and shady people. You feel scared for your safety just being in there. I am complaining about this and will try everything i can to make sure they have to close their doors to business this practice cannot be legal. I called anonymously inquiring about their rates, and gave them the exact circumstances of my towing - location, distance, time of day- and they told me the charge would be $275! Yet they made me pay $718! Otherwise they would have not given me my car. Hopefully my story and those of others will prevent more people from falling in their trap. read more

Upon calling, the most hostile reception that could ever be. The woman was yelling at me that it was not her that texted me and I shouldn't be calling her at the land line.
