I noticed some moisture damage under the eaves in a couple of locations on the Decra metal roof of…read moreour two-story home. I contacted at least six roofing repair companies. One responded that they do not work on metal roofs, and two others never responded. Three contractors came out to inspect the roof. The inspections varied considerably, ranging from a simple walk-around to identify "potential" moisture intrusion points to climbing onto the roof to inspect vent pipes and other details. One company recommended re-roofing and waterproofing three squares (1 square = 100 sq. ft.). Yikes! No thanks. Eastman Roofing, specifically Ramon, provided the most thorough inspection. He probed the water-damaged decking to assess the extent of the damage. He was also very well prepared, arriving with a satellite image of our home that allowed him to identify the areas requiring repair. He was clearly safety-minded as well. The ladder was secured to a roof rafter and strapped to the ladder itself (see attached photo). The proposal was reasonably priced. I was originally scheduled for October 2, but the crew was running late and informed me they would not be able to make it that afternoon. Eastman promptly rescheduled the repair for October 7. The time from the initial inspection to repair was just shy of 1 month. The roofers, Vic and Teo, arrived in the morning and got right to work. There was very little time wasted. They completed the repair, including cleanup, in about 3 hours. The temperature reached 92°F that day, and it was probably at least 10 degrees hotter on the metal roof. Vic and Teo are highly competent and skilled roofers. Bottom Line: Would I use Eastman Roofing again? Very Likely.

We got the premium shingles, roof ridge venting, a flat area cricket, and good quality aluminum gutters that fit our home's style and color scheme. Esteven was the site lead, and made sure that all aspects of the job went smoothly. He also made sure we knew what work was to be accomplished each day. Since we started with solar panels, the replacement involved coordinating with the solar company to remove and re-install the panels. Esteven and his crew did an excellent job adding extra underlayment where solar panels were to be re-mounted, marking the roof rafters so the solar company could firmly install the mounting brackets, and adding extra waterproofing for each solar bracket stand-off. Esteven removed a powered gable vent fan, ensured there was nothing damaged in our attic when cutting the ridge line to accommodate the new ridge vents, made sure no insulation interfered with airflow for the venting, had the crew clean the site before leaving each day, and fixed any cosmetic issues that had been caused by the construction. I commend the workmanship of Eastman Roofing and their crew, and wholeheartedly recommend them if you are considering a roof replacement.

We did end up choosing the full encapsulation (to just finally be done with the issue) but I did not feel pushed in that direction at all during our conversation. Once we decided, working with Gina in the office and Bill to get the details of the plan finalized was easy, we got our dates locked in, and on the scheduled days Antonio and crew showed up on time and cranked through the job. Everything was finished exactly to the plan Bill had drawn up, including the interface to the existing parts of the system we wanted to keep. And the crawlspace looks incredible - truly a major upgrade to our home. Looking forward to a rainy season finally not worrying about it!

We hired Bay Area Moisture Control to install a sump pump with trenching to address standing water…read moreunder the house. On the positive side, the crew (Antonio) was punctual, easy to work with, and efficient. The whole job took 3.5 hours. The issue came with the placement of the sump pump discharge location. I had talked to their sales lead (Bill) about having the water be discharged to the street where there is a storm drain. Instead, the sump pump "pop up" was placed 8 feet from the front of the house, way too close. Water can flow back under the house, defeating the purpose of the sump pump entirely. When I called Bill during the job to talk about our options, he dismissed our concerns and immediately pointed to the contract, implying that this was our fault because we signed the contract. In reviewing the contract, the design was completely unclear about where the sump pump would exit water. Bill continued to skirt the fact that that we had discussed pumping water to the street, and instead, he baked a different design into the contract with unclear markings. We are dissatisfied with the poor communication, but even more so, the lack of accountability from the company. If you hire this company, just a word of caution to walk through the design with them before signing and make sure you're on the same page about everything. We are going to have to bring someone else out to fix the issue. One more thing ... I was flabbergasted that when talking to Bill on the phone about the iffy sump pump discharge location, Bill was trying to upsell me on encapsulation! Read the room, dude.
