Okay... this one is special…read more The Pilates Station recently made the move from Vail into Civano, and the new setup is a total shift, love the change. Instead of group classes, this space is designed for private and semi-private sessions (just two reformers), which completely changes the experience. The studio itself is tucked inside a converted home, and it's honestly adorable. You walk into a calm, thoughtfully set-up space with a little drop zone to settle in. Upstairs is The Grounded Roots Yoga, and downstairs is where the magic happens with Isma. It feels welcoming, not intimidating, which I really appreciated. I've done plenty of reformer Pilates over the years... and if I'm being honest, a lot of it felt pretty average. This was my first true one-on-one session, and WOW. Completely different experience. We slowed everything down and went back to the basics--especially breathing. And somehow, doing less made everything harder (in the best way). Tiny movements, core engagement, pelvic tilts, ribcage control... I was shaking within minutes. It felt like I was finally understanding movements I've been doing for years. No one has ever broken it down for me like that before. By the end, I felt worked, aligned, and honestly kind of mind-blown. Isma is just a wonderful human--patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what she does. You can feel the care in how she teaches and how the space is set up. Also worth noting: the studio smells amazing, which is such a small detail but makes a difference. Civano itself is one of those quiet, charming pockets of Tucson, and this studio fits right in. It's one of those hidden gems you almost want to gatekeep... but won't. Grippy socks are a must, but she's got you covered if you forget. Easy five stars. I'll absolutely be back.

Love a good community event!…read more Attended the Studio Fuerza Pilates collab event at Park Place Mall and was impressed with how well this was organized . Mats & water were provided at check in for those who opted for that . This was a slower class meant to be a bit more intentional and let beginners and pros get the most out of the workout . Instructor went over proper breathwork and made sure to keep cueing for proper posture. The class was packed and we had a great time . Would definitely attend another class.

The…read morespace is very small, and classes feel overcrowded--there just isn't enough room for everyone to move comfortably. It often felt like we were bumping into walls or each other, which made it hard to enjoy the session. I took a Mat Pilates class, and it was much hotter than I expected. I understand the studio also offers hot yoga, but I wasn't expecting that level of heat for Pilates. I'd suggest either limiting class sizes or making it clearer which classes are heated. It's affordable, which is a plus, but I'm not sure I'd return.

They have a super cute little shop at the entrance. It's only $5 to get in if you're not a member (and there are free days) and SO worth it. I like that the installations are multi-sensory experiences which speakers and/or headphones, etc. They were handing out free KXCI radio-station branded headphones today because they're a sponsor of the Dazzled exhibit, but I think they could've put more thought into this. I'm all for free swag and I see the link to the OMD music but they should give people a code to scan on their phones so they can use the headphones for an audio tour of the exhibit or something. Or an app linked to each aspect of the exhibit if you didn't want to put the other headphones on. Even a link to OMD Spotify playlist would be fun. ALSO the headphones should be decorated with unique Dazzle inspired design

There is a fee to be in the park. You can purchase the park pass outside of the Red Hills Visitor Center or in the parking lot of King Canyon trailhead. The Park is cashless, so bring your Credit Card to make your payment. We took two days to drive through and explore the National Park which is divided into two mountain districts by the city of Tucson. We started off at the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center (East side) the day before and then came to the Red HIlls Visitor Center (West side). Saguaro National Park is so very beautiful in its unique way! I was in awe of the vast scenery! I have seen so many Saguaros while driving through Arizona but seeing them in such great numbers in the park was so spectacular! I really enjoyed seeing the other desert plants like the Prickly Pear Cactus with so many fruits on them and the Barrel Cacti with flowers! I would have loved to see some wildlife, but it was probably too hot out. Be sure to stop at the Red Hills Visitor Center to get a map and information! If Ranger Bob Perrill is there, take time to talk with him! He is passionate about what he does and is happy to share his knowledge and tips. We drove the Bajada Loop Drive (5.2 miles) which is full of desert plants! I have a greater appreciation for how magnificent the Saguaros are! Ranger Bob told us where we should look to spot 2 Cristate Saguaros visible from the road. They are rare natural mutation where the tips don't grow normally, they are fan-shaped & crest-like. Just about any vehicle can safely go on the Bajada Loop Drive which is a gravel dirt road. We had no troubles in our Honda CR-V. Read up on what vehicles are permitted. There are trails & picnic areas. There are Petroglyphs in the West side! Go to Signal Hill Picnic Area. There's a trail that you can walk to get a close up view. It was too hot for me, so hubby was valiant and did the short trek out and took some pictures for me. After leaving the park, I was interested in learning more about Saguaros. Interesting facts: *The saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea) is named after Andrew Carnegie, an industrialist and philanthropist. *Saguaros can store hundreds of gallons of water during rainfall. *Not all Saguaros grow arms and it can take 50-75 years to grow their first arm! I would love to come back in a different season!

Beautiful desert park!…read more Despite the shutdown (2025) and the rain, we dropped by this park on the way back home from 'Em's soccer tourney in Mesa. This park is filled with the famous saguaro cactus that fills scenes of the southwest, but really is only located in the Sonoran desert of Southern Arizona. It was not summer hot, and overcast. We were able to hideout from the passing showers at the Red Hill Visitor Center. Inside they have a glass encased wildlife model. You can learn a lot about the Sonoran desert flora and fauna. There are a couple of hand phones that go into specific themes. Also available every 30min is a 15min video about the Sonoran Desert and the images of the culture and sustainment themes. The cool thing about the video was the end when the screen rises and reveals the back side of the visitor center and this vm beautiful scene of the park. Really beautiful. I can only imagine what it would look like on a clear sunset. The kids were able to do their Junior Rangers and we took some short hikes and drove through the scenic loop before heading out. The park is huge, we entered through the Western side in Picture Rock, and drove along the southern edge on the way home. It was nice to see this park, and I was glad we stopped to check it out. Recommended.

What a glorious way to enjoy a spring day in the Sonoran desert…read more I hiked to Ernie's falls which was not flowing but had some trickling swimming holes and to Bridal Wreath falls which was flowing slightly. The views all around were glorious and the trail was well maintained. I only saw a few other people out there. Since I got there right around noon there were a few parking spots available. Such an easy trail to access, right off speedway. The sunset was incredible!

ERNIE FALLS Take…read moreSpeedway east til it ends and you'll find a conglomerate of trails at the Douglas Spring trailhead that venture all around the area, up Mica mountain and towards Tanque Verde Falls. It's separate of Tanque verde falls area, just a quick note to that. Amongst several trails is this one that leads to Ernie Falls (seen on slide 10) which is currently a small trickle of water from recent rains. While there were smaller pools hiking in, then larger less stagnant ones at the fall area, my thought on this is that it's typically dry without consistent rain fall or snow melt. The hike itself is 6+ miles total, an in and out trail and fairly easy uphill hike inward getting to 1220ft in elevation. Coming back out is, as you can imagine, is downhill with leveling stretches. This is definitely family friendly. I got the experience of passing by several families that had quite young kids and even elderly folk. I would say this area is high traffic with limited parking at the trail head and more along the road. This is an exposed hike with no coverage, bring nourishment like power / energy providing snacks and water. Every week I get out and explore the trails, at least twice a week. For years I have been loving exploring new areas and this one is new to me so I'll be finding myself out here more. Hope to see you on the trails enjoying the act of presence and being.
