I am so impressed with Barefoot Yoga. I have kept trying yoga over the years because of the health benefits but couldn't find a place or pace of yoga that I liked. Fast forward to 2 months ago and now I can say I'm a regular! Thia review will highlight a different kind of yoga class for those of us who loce to sweat, work out, but need to slow down and breathe too. Sound like you? Then check out Booty Yoga. This class is core and glute focused and you will FEEL IT. It combines meditative breathing and traditional flow with lots of targeted work. I cannot reccomend this class enough. I did the restorative class with Kim, and it was so great! To anyone needing a class to just rest and breathe and release any tension or stress, this class is perfect for you! I got to attend a yin class as a Yelp Elite event - but the five stars aren't for the free class, it's for the quality! Nicole was super inviting and welcoming to my friend and I, who were both new to the studio. The space is large, but still feels intimate and comfortable, offering a great view if you're near the window. I look forward to coming back here to attend yoga with kittens sometime! Visited this place for the first time for a Yelp event and was hooked at the sound of the meditation bowls. The owner did an absolutely amazing ending class on these and I had to start showing everyone how this is. Just went back last week with a friend and tried out the 30 min end of day class and it was nice, it didn't feel as loud or soothing as I previously experienced. I think everyone must do it a little differently, so I hope one day to hear the owner play these again with family or friends around because it was a wonderful experience. The room is very aesthetically pleasing with the lights and very spacious. Love that they have an app where you can see the schedule, book, and pay for your classes/membership. I found it easy to navigate and use. The studio is clean, inviting, and for my Sunday hatha class, the front half had lights on and the back half had them off so you could choose the ambience you wanted. Barefoot Studio was the cutest spot for yoga! Honestly, the twinkle lights just upped the vibe in there. I really enjoyed the glow and flow class on Saturday and found that Yvonne was a great instructor. It was relaxed, but I still felt like I got a great workout. She had a soothing voice and I really liked that Barefoot tries to put the focus more on the health/physical therapy aspects of yoga, rather than just the power and difficult parts of practice. I've always just practiced at home because I was nervous about what in-person practice might be like, but really was surprised by how comfortable I felt there. Our class also got to experience the sound bowl meditation for an extended period and it was very relaxing (albeit a little loud at times) and kind of took me to a different headspace. I wish I could give this place a multiple minus zero rating. This is in addition to my previous review. They unbelievably are continuing to charge me in December after I injured myself in August,called the owner in early September, because I had started physical therapy. The billing continued because they apparently weren't satisfied until they had my cancelation in writing, which I sent. However, they have continued to bill me monthly regardless. It may take a lawsuit to make them quit. Buyer beware. This place is money hungry at all costs. I should sue just for the harassment and stress they are causing me. read more

It is with much regret that I submit such a poor review... If I could make a recommendation to Barefoot Yoga on Oracle Road...shut it down for one day to learn more about how to be inclusive towards all races when capturing the yogi spirit. I was greeted by the instructor Julie of the 9am class Wednesday morning on 2/27 with a frown and avoidance. Julie never acknowledge my presence nor asked about my yogi experience even just for a second...clearly understand about timing and class start time but she appeared very distracted of my presence. The owner Briana was NOT pleasant at all...No eye contact nor good communication skills...just an attitude that possess the following..."whatever girl...go on back because you see I'm busy" ...now I see why this studio has such a bad reputation as the owner model the good old girls mentality...this establishment appears to be not open nor privy what is coming ahead for the yogi world and what is new and upcoming for the year of 2019. I found this studio to be very outdated and very unfriendly...one and only one member said hello very quickly to me as if she was afraid of my presence. Yes, black people are yogis... Not sure if I was the first black woman to step a barefoot in this studio but it was stepping back in time. I'm currently working on my yoga instructors certification and live out of state and was hoping to keep my practice going while I travel back and forth...well...I will go back to Yoga Connection in Tucson even though I have to drive 45 mins to get there...I left there due to the distance and my recent move back to Seattle...at least Yoga Connection welcomes you by name...Pricilla the owner go out of her way to ask if she can touch and make adjustments when conducting sessions...Julie, during the 9am class appeared labile when she helped me with a (very cold attitude) adjustment and never asked my name...her moves was very outdated. Julie, not sure if you went to the most recent training... It is downright impossible to know all of your student's personal, cultural, and other boundaries when it comes to touch or adjustment. I'm heart broken that as a black female...I have to continue to look for a yoga practice outside Oro Valley and possibly travel a 45 mins hike to gain an awesome and welcoming yogi experience. It is nothing like being greeted at Yoga Connection with a smile, or hug...or good day...after you conducted your restorative pose.... My last words...Barefoot Yoga...you will see more people of color in your studio and hopefully you will have conducted your cultural competency training for all of your practitioners...happy to provide you free training surrounding this topic anytime...trauma informed yoga training and body positivity is something you should be upgrading your facility because at this time the topics on the wall appears to be outdated especially when I called and your own staff was confused about the topics. This is only feedback as your own staff concur last year about these trainings. I've been to this location twice. Very new and clean! I had a great experience with gentle yoga, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the second time I went there was a ton of people in the class and people towards the front were being loud and not being courteous to those who were trying to meditate. Not the studios fault at all, partially my fault for not getting there early enough to get the spot I like in the studio (closer to the wall). The later the time the busier the class so make sure you get there at least 15 minutes early! read more

so much for Zen! We bought a 10 session pass. Soon after starting our classes, my wife was diagnoses with cancer and she needed to start chemo. We asked if we could delay our classes until after treatment ended and we told NO!!! We did not want a refund, just to extend the expiration of \the purchased classes. Are you kidding me right now??? I bought a groupon for this place. Time didn't allow us to use it ONCE and they wouldn't refund the money in services, or at all. What horrible customer service. If someone doesn't use your service ONE time, don't charge them for it. Horrible policy, horrible customer service. What kind of business does that?! We are college students, we don't have $100 to pour down the drain! Sorry, that we didn't have the time to make it down to your studio with two full time jobs and school! Your hours are ridiculous with closing at 7 every night and Saturdays way early?! What normal person would even be able to make it to your studio. I am beyond upset. PROS: the yoga teachers are ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. Acrobats, Athletes & dedicated yogis practice here....{& the best part}... is that they do it with a smile & are all genuine friends by the end of your first class. I'd recommend each & every yoga class here. The studio is also clean, beautiful & serene. CONS: ...the receptionists. Since this is also a Spa there are estheticians that work up front. I must admit I'm a bit biased considering I have THEE most amazing, caring esthetician ever... but MAN... every time you ask a question at the front desk you either get an 'annoyed' face or a harsh/blunt answer...{no smiles..} It's as if I interrupted their gossip session & have no right as A PAYING CUSTOMER to be there :'( ...It would be great if your first impression {i.e. the front desk} was better. It'd make me want to come in for a facial regularly & recommend the Spa to others. ALL in ALL... Barefoot studio! Where do I begin?! One of my favorite yoga studios AND SPA's in Arizona. The owner Brianna came up with a genius idea to put all of your health, beauty and wellness needs under one roof. On a day of treating myself, I like to go to a vigorous yoga class followed by a 90 min massage. The massage therapists are magical and the yoga instructors are so very talented. Nice studio, but a bit small and crowded room. Took my first class and asked if the class called "fresh start" would be good for me since it had been over 2 years since i took yoga on a regular basis, i told the instructor i was very tight and was cautious to not get hurt since i have a weak back as well. Well low and behold two weeks later im just getting over hurting myself! Class description needs to be clearer in my opinion? More hands on involvement with instructor, maybe walking the room and keeping attention on the students from time to time would be nice! I bought a 1 month unlimited membership and by the time i healed the month was almost over. Did not care for the rock music to practice yoga to as well, bob seager, rolling stones, and other odd stuff for a yoga class? I love rock, but not at yoga! Maybe they should title that class "Yoga Rock" so you have a better idea of its style? Other that that i like the place! Ill just pick classes more carfelly next time. I really enjoy this studio. Most of the teachers are really good about explaining the positions and help you get into the proper positions. Con: There are a few teachers, that do not help you and just expect you to just figure it out, even when you tell them "Hey! It's my first time EVER doing yoga." I wish they would take the time to help you or explain to you what you are doing and when these "teachers" do "help," they are very condescending about it. Pro: If you are new, go to Liz's gentle class, she is great at helping and rarely has a condescending attitude. Liz is also great at showing you the correct way to be in each position. The best part, she sometimes puts essential oils on your forehead at the end of class. This is the topper of the cake and I REALLY enjoy this part of her class. Pro: Kaitlyn's power is amazing! If you want a good workout, go to her power class! She is a really nice woman and if you ask her for her playlist, she will give it to you no questions asked, she is great and one of the nicest instructors at this studio!! She's always interested in what is going on in her students lives and actually converses with her students. Its nice when you have a teacher that shows interest her students, and shows that she cares!! read more

I just went to the Candlelight mellow flow class on Sunday afternoon. I throughly enjoyed the instructor and the class. It was a flow class where you moved quickly. It was probably a little quick for beginners, but all experience levels are welcome. The instructor took the time to come around to the new students and help them with their positions. The class was crowded - but as expected on Sunday afternoon. Definitely was a legit class and was not too spiritual (which I appreciate). I was sweating by the end of it. The first class is free and the instructor was very welcoming. Make sure to arrive 15 minutes early to get your spot. The instructor did lock the door when the class started - so if you snooze you loose. There were cubbies to store your stuff during the class. The cubby location was not ideal and only allowed for one person to access their stuff at a time. I will definitely be coming back =) read more

What A fabulous place for yoga and an Overall great workout in the Barefoot 500 class. This is my second week attending Barefoot 500 class, I absolutely love it! I love Barefoot Studio! I have been coming here for two years. When I first joined I had never attended a yoga class and new nothing about yoga. I basically go to gentle yoga classes. As a golfer, my goal is to maintain/increase my flexibility, core strength, and balance. I can honestly say practicing yoga at Barefoot has increased my driving distance and consistency. I've found the instructors and fellow practitioners very welcoming and encouraging. I've never felt intimated by others even though some are more advanced. It is a very peaceful tranquil setting. I've learned so much and feel great after every class. I've found Susan and Liz to be excellent instructors particularly in focusing on proper breathing techniques and knowing how far to push oneself. Brianna, the owner, takes pride in her studios and cares about her customers. The studios are always neat and clean. When I injured a nerve in my back (not related to yoga) and couldn't take classes for several months, my pass was about to expire with several credits remaining. I was so torn on this one (3 versus 4 stars) and really wish I could've done a half star (3.5). Overall, I like Barefoot Studio. The staff is friendly and polite. I like how the studio is small and intimate. I like the lighting they have and the decorations in the studio. It's very zen. That being said, I've never had a class here where I've left feeling absolutely phenomenal. It's hard to put it to words, but I always feel "just ok" after a class. Like, I didn't get as good of a workout as I would have liked. I didn't get as much of a meditation as I would have liked. I just didn't get "enough." So I always leave wanting more. More peace/calm. More sweat/workout. Both. I'm sure yogis know what I'm talking about. Just to clarify, I've had yoga classes (at other places) where I've felt like it was a total waste of time. I have NEVER felt that way at Barefoot. So, in the end, I'm always still happy I went and I feel like I got something out of it and am happy to have practiced. But I'm still left just wanting more. I've only been to this location (Thornydale) so I'm curious what the one on Oracle is like. I'll have to check it out. read more

Doreen, aesthetician, is a jewel! I will go back for her service again....if she doesn't move onto bigger, better locations....she is That good. The masseuse, however, I've had far better at other places and won't go back again for that service. For a new client, beware: This business requires that you absolve them of ALL responsibility for anything that might happen...absolve the business, the employees, the owner, etc. If they wrong you, you cannot under any circumstances hold them responsible for your injury or anything else. I've never experienced this requirement at any other spa, neither the small locale ones or the larger more expensive ones (Red Door, Omni, Ritz Carlton). I have been a member for nearly three years and I thoroughly enjoy practicing at this studio All of the instructors that I have taken classes with are absolutely amazing. Each one contributes their knowledge in such a way that every class is fun, unique, and tranquil. But by far, my favorite part of this studio, is that I am never made to feel stupid or incompetent. They don't shame you because your pose isn't perfect, but rather they praise you for honoring your body. This is truly a great studio and I really recommend trying it out. read more

If you're thinking of taking Yoga Teacher Training here, look elsewhere! Very unprofessional and unorganized. Didn't feel satisfied with the training. Julie should never be allowed to teach anyone going through training. Very negative, and continually said rude things to me, specifically. Pam is great. Great teacher, nice person. The owner should not be teaching this program. Good "power yoga" teacher, bad at teaching teachers. There is no syllabus, and didn't do much the first two weeks; however, towards the end are rushing to cram information in, because "we didn't have enough time". I was very disappointed with this studio and the quality of training I received. Not trying to be negative, just wish I would have known this before taking this training at this studio. As students, we were treated as low priority, to personal issues, private lessons and even normal classes. Not what you should feel going through this training. Owner was late many times, but expected us to be early. A lot of "hurry up and wait". The girls I took this training with were the best part of this experience. Took a really wonderful class there this morning. I'll start by saying I've practiced yoga for about 15 years and I'm a certified instructor who's taught in her past life. However, since moving to Tucson about a year and a half ago, I let go of my yogi self. Instead I've been taking lots of kickboxing and circuit training classes, which has been a fun adventure, but has also been really hard on my joints. I've found myself with a very sore lower back lately, stiff joints, tight muscles, and a serious need for a yoga fix. I tried Barefoot's yin classes a couple of times, which were pretty good, but I was totally blown away by today's "yoga basics" class now being offered. The instructor managed to make one posture last the entirety of class (besides a warm-up and savasana), yet it still felt challenging. She broke it down in a way that rivals most workshops I've been to, but managed not to lose the yogic philosophy component in the midst of the spot-on physical instruction. It was a great yoga refresher and my SI joint somehow felt better than it has in months upon leaving. Will definitely be back. read more
