Ok so anyone who knows me would know I love yoga & I'm everywhere. That being said , this place didn't hit for me even though it checked some of the things on my list that usually make me fall in love with a studio. I came in to do a double class drop in , vinyasa- hot & vinyasa warm with soundbath . Overall it's not going to be on my top10 places to yoga out here but I may be back for another class one day it's not terrible, just doesn't come close to some of the yoga experiences I've had in town. PROS ; Heated classes Affordable $9 drop in Mirrors Ambient dark lighting Friendly instructors Mats available to borrow no charge Cute location I actually learned a couple new posture terms! CONS ; both classes were so slowwwww (should be labeled as slow flow not vinyasa ) I like it hotter & faster for vinyasa Parking - sucks Music was so low for both classes I could barely hear it , turn it up ! Instructors teach facing you so you have a hard time following when you start twisting and all the things , I prefer instructors who teach facing the mirror the same direction as students . ROACHES - yep borrowed a studio mat and a fricken roach fell out... not a great first impression. Took a minute to shake that off ewww. During soundbath instructor opened door , It's 4th so it's loud and distracting outside . It would have been nice to just have it closed. read more

I've been hearing about this space for years and finally was able to give it a try. Took a vinyasa warm with sound bath. I enjoyed the motions the instructor did. But I do wish he had faced the same way as us because it made it a little confusing at times. The instructor did appear to be very enthusiastic about his craft which I appreciated. I did like the studio and the ambience of it. My one disappointment was at the end for the sound bath. A door or window got opened, which dropped the temperature. I was hoping to still be within the warmth during the sound bath. And then it's on 4th so of course, you got a nice contact high and then the noise from the outside didn't make the sound bath portion very relaxing. read more

I was in town for four days last week, and didn't want to pause my regular yoga practice at home. 4th Ave Yoga looked interesting online, so I gave it a go. I attended two classes. The first class, a slow flow with Robert, was well cued and a true slow flow. Perfect for my first class after traveling. I spoke with him after class, and he is pleasant and kind. He suggested I check out Oasis on Campbell because I liked his class so much. They're "sister" sudios. The second class was a warm vinyasa and sound bath with Max. This class was also well cued and fun. Warm, not too hot. The reason for 4, not 5 stars, is Max cued several backbends in a late evening class. Not recommended late in the day as backbends are typically energizing for most people. I skipped those, because it's yoga; take what you like and speaks to you, leave the rest. Be mindful of parking; it may take a moment. There are several metered spaces in front, and a parking lot across the street that the yoga studio and bar there share. You'll scan a QR code inside the studio for a heavy discount. I think I paid $1 or maybe $1.25 to park in the lot. I recommend giving this place a try. A drop in is only $9.00. Sign up and pay online. Super affordable, and they don't require for you to sign up for a "trial" two weeks for $45.00 as another studio wanted. read more

As a RAW beginner, this place was excellent. Very welcoming. My friend and I tried this the Hot Power Flow and did not know what to expect. Boy did we get a work out. Here we go with the new year resolution! I started going to 4th Ave yoga because of my teacher. He physically dragged us out of the clinics to do mid-day yoga with him. Initially I was dreading the idea, oops. But after the first class, I WAS SOLD! It's now my favorite part of the week! Parking: BACK IN ONLY street meters for $1 an hour, there's also a few free spots in the small lot across the street or down the road, you'll just have to walk a few mi (as a yoga warm up, win win eh?) Atmosphere: Super chill, super welcoming, no long-term membership required! All you have to do is to fill out a waiver on your first class, then every class is $5 (your second class is FREE yay). I always bring my matt and I think to rent mats is $2. Super affordable/ commitment place! I think the studio gets crowded on the weekends, I've only been on the weekdays and it's very spacious! Classes - Vinyasa classes: great flow, great teachers, I was out of practice for a few years and I get my butt kicked every time. Thanks to Nychole/ Phoebe or Jessica! Overall, this is a super nice and friendly yoga studio, definitely great for all level of yogi. I've been going to 4th ave on and off for 2 years. I used to live very close so I enjoyed walking to and from class. I have since moved away - so I suppose depending on the time of the class you choose parking is a consideration since it is downtown. The classes are wonderful! They have something for everyone. I used to religiously go to Nicole's vinyasa on Tuesday's (probably has since changed). The hatha classes are great too. I've never been to Yin or any heated classes. The drop in is $5, it always annoyed me that there wasn't a "package" deal. It's $50 for 10 classes, which gives NO discount. I suppose the unlimited package would be a "discount" if yoga was something you do everyday. Sometimes the classes start late and they pack the house really full (for $, I get it) but I always felt like if you're there on time it's super annoying to have to move over and be on top of your neighbor because they are late. FINALLY!!!! A yoga studio that offers hot yoga that is not bikram!!! I am so over sweating on carpet that 1,000 other people have sweated on. Sounds gross, but it's true and an understatement. Its a $5 yoga class. You get what you pay for. Not very zen, or relaxing. The teachers definitely don't seem prepared to lead a class. Decent option if students need a cheap yoga opportunity but I don't recommend the hatha class and I don't recommend this if you are an experienced yogi read more

I recently decided to take up yoga. I've really enjoyed my experience here and for $4 per class, it has allowed me to try various different instructors until I found the one I like the most. AND after getting my attendance card punched 10 times, I earn a free slice of cheese pizza the nearby pizza restaurant. I'm not sure how long I'll keep going to yoga, but I'm at least guaranteed to continue at 4th Avenue and until I get my free pizza! Tip: Parking is very limited. I started coming here because of a friend's recommendation. I've attended other studios and had positive experiences, but this one has become my go-to yoga studio. At only $4, the price is certainly right. I try to regularly attend Emily's Juicy Yoga class on Mondays at 12, and also Kali's flow class on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Juicy is more of a chill, restorative/stretching class, with poses held longer, while flow is a Vinyasa workout where you focus on syncing your breath sequence with changing poses. (Read: harder workout/more caloric burn!) I like both for different reasons. I find it's nice to begin the week with a calmer class and kick into high gear for the weekend. Both classes would be fine for a beginner, as long as you take it at your own pace and try modifications suggested by the (very friendly and helpful!) instructors. If you go to flow on Thursday night, or any of the more popular classes, you should get there about 10-15 minutes early to ensure a mat space. (And bring a towel, because you will SWEAT!) Speaking of sweat, I haven't tried hot yoga yet but I would like to at some point. Check this studio out. Recommend. read more

What happened???? 4th Avenue Yoga used to be a lovely space. Now the floors are filthy and feel warped. The non-heated class is hot and humid. Deep breathing is a huge part of yoga practice; however, it is impossible to do because the whole place smells like farts. =( One star to the brave and wonderful instructors. read more

Nice clean venue just off 4th Avenue with cork floors, good instructors, and $4 classes! You can't beat the value for drop in yoga classes in Tucson. (Yoga Oasis used to have the best deal, but it is now $5 for their Yoga Hour). I went with my daughter yesterday for a Sunday morning Hatha class. Johnny was the instructor. I found him to be knowledgeable and friendly, with a great attitude. After the class my daughter and I walked to Chocolate Iguana for cappuccino and scones. That's the nice thing about working out on 4th Avenue~ there's no shortage of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. It made for a fun Sunday morning, and we will definitely be back! read more

I can't believe I forgot to write my review on this yoga studio. I get excited about coming to Tucson for work because of 4th Avenue Yoga. Where else can you get great instructors and classes for $4 plus $1 mat rental. I have been to 5 classes now and have never sweat more in yoga in my life, and we're not even talking their Bikram inspired classes. The instructors for this yoga studio are so positive, encouraging, and know how to push you to your yoga limits. I always feel amazing after my classes and totally see body transformation in just the few days I'm in town. I'm a super huge fan of 4th Ave Yoga (and am known to drive past at least one other studio when I come here for classes). The first thing that was alluring was the $4/class, with no kind of "membership" or weird price scale. $4 is awesome. I tell people from everywhere else (or even just in Tucson) that I pay $4/class for my yoga and their jaws hit the floor. It's the best thing ever. I started going regularly summer 2013, because grad school is stressful and grad school with depression and anxiety is even more so--so I'm a fan of the reminders of positivity and staying present, even through the unpleasant feelings. It's a really big bonus that I can do this while sweating my brains out, because there's nothing I like more than a really good workout that leaves me dripping all over the floor (sorry) and wringing out my shirt afterward. I love Casey's classes, and those were the ones I started out taking; when I wanted to try a hot class, I took one of Dave's, and I've started going to his classes regularly when Casey had to cut back her schedule. I miiiiiiight have built my schedule as much possible to fit around the Wednesday noon class I like to take (it's a tough time, even though it's my favorite class, so it doesn't always work...). I've gotten a few people to go with me, and now one of my friends and I have a regular yoga date every week because we're fans of sweaty positivity and Dave's yoga style. I've even gotten my parents to go with me, and they love the atmosphere. My dad--a "let's go to the gym every day" treadmill-running, weight-lifting guy who's skeptical about yoga--was totally delighted by the class I had him go to with me. Classes get busier during the school year, so beware! I've never been to a class where it's super full (thinking of an experience at a CorePower place where a friend and I packed up and left because the mats were touching and we were still asked if we could scoot over) or where people have been turned away, though. read more

I love this place! Cheapest yoga place in town, lots of classes offered and my teacher is really great!!! I love Alex. There is always a great workout with her and a wise lesson to take off the mat! She is a committed instructor, takes the time to get to know your name and remember you- I am so grateful for her! Also, if you are into hot classes, they've started having a few a week and they are great! Feels like the inside of a blowdryer though- be prepared to sweat! $4 a class, can't be beat! I was able to get a groupon for $35 that gave me 20 passes. And every 10 classes you get a free Brooklyn pizza! No better place. Bonus: always grab an iced coffee at Skybar on my way out. read more

Just spent a week visiting Tucson and went to 4th Ave yoga every day and it was fantastic. Alex, Julia, Casey and Pam were all great, very positive and enthusiastic. I would do another vacation in Tucson just to practice there again. And it's only $4! With free mats for visitors. You've got to be kidding. One tip, if you go to a night class and think the studio is closed its not, the just don't turn on any outside lights or in the front room, but they are there. read more

Great option for visitors to Tucson, though I wish I had discovered yoga before moving out of Southern AZ. This is a long, narrow yoga studio conveniently located for U of A and downtown. Their website's calendar was fully updated to include holiday scheduling, which really helped. Good drop-in price of $5, and another $2 to rent a mat. I tried the hot yoga and loved it. Friendly instructor, and the music was pretty good. Remember to take your water bottle! read more

Alright so people like to boast and brag about their yoga classes but they let me tell you... this yoga studio and all of the teachers are the crème de la crème. 4th Avenue Yoga has extremely knowledgable instructors who are spiritually, emotionally, and physically committed to the practice of yoga! They are welcoming for every level and ability, even those who have not practiced yoga before. I have been attending classes almost weekly here for 4 years. Not only have their yoga classes reduced my anxiety, but they have also helped me learn about the wider meaning behind yoga principles through their community gatherings, or "sanghas" (like a yoga book club without homework). The studio is highly affordable and welcomes people from varying income levels-- you can't beat the price! The chapters I have completed so far on my doctoral dissertation are partially due to the spiritual guidance and self-knowledge that I developed during my time with this fantastic studio. 5/5 Highly Recommend! read more

At first delighted by the close proximity to my graduate apartment on-campus at the UofA, went to the studio..mostly, it was pretty near impossible to do a complete body stretch to the side without knocking into someone (essential for yoga, as most of us know) because of the clutter of too many bodies in 1 space (hello, commercialization). I was willing to overlook that and the sweat smell/lack of circulation. I thought the ambiance and convenience made up for it. UNTIL it didn't. UNTIL I got singled out twice: 1. at the counter once, I asked what the deal was with free passes fr the 2nd class that other yogis were getting, after which I was informed by the manager at the counter that she had personally given me 1 and insinuating that I was being dishonest when I insisted no (to her credit, she apologized later for it after checking her records), 2. I was turning off my cell after completing my text when the instructor came in to talk/before poses. After class when she told me no cells were allowed inside, I pointed out that others were using theirs in the same area/nowhere did it say that I should leave my cell there. Still, I said "I'm sorry, I will be careful next time." Despite this apology, I was told to write down my email "in case they needed to contact me in the future about cellphone usage" NEVER AGAIN, yoga=relaxing, not a subtly racist fanfare or a barrage of horrible, unpleasant attitudes, concealed w fake sweetness. I'm brown. Racism: like our parents having sex, everyone knows it happens, but do we really want to acknowledge it???? (*gasp!!) Whether it's that or abysmally poor people skills, no can do. The best yoga studio I've been to in Tucson- has the best vibes and best price ($5). I have been coming here for 5 or 6 years. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and kind. I decided to try this little yoga studio after visiting the 4th Ave street fair and seeing the sign in the window for $4 classes. I was a little intimidated at first because I have never been to an actual yoga studio, just yoga classes at gyms but the people who teach the classes are amazing and make you feel right at home! I have tried two different classes and they were both amazing! Their Bikram inspired class was amazing and the flow class was so much fun (loved the teacher for this one). It's only $4 a class! I still can't get over that as I paid ~$19/class in San Francisco before I moved here. No need to set up an online account, just show up, pay $4 cash and you can enjoy 60 minutes of bliss. Free street parking out front. The studio has always been clean and everyone is friendly. My favorite teachers are Simone and Arryn. Dave is also good, but I have only been to one class he taught so far. Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday are hot yoga days, which doesn't make sense to me in Tucson, but I guess some people like it. I have not been to night classes, but heard they get really busy, more so when school is in session. read more

Heard so many great things about this place, my boyfriend & I were super excited to try it out & create our yoga journey w/them. We finally decided on a perfect date for us to go early in the morning, made sure to arrive early, and ended up waiting outside 10-15 mins after they were scheduled to begin class. The door remained locked, no cars showed up, no one came in.I decided to email them since there is No phone # posted, received an email back stating the schedule, as if I hadn't looked prior to my visit, and more thoroughly explain how we arrived early, waited x amount of time, & no one showed up. This place is very popular, so be sure to show up early. At $4 you can't beat the price. It's been a very long time since I've done a hot yoga class, so I looked for something that was beginner friendly. Many of they're classes say that beginners are welcome. I went to a hot class on Wednesday night and there were about 60 people in there. The class was fun and moved quickly. However since there were so many people you had follow the first row of people because it was hard to see the instructor. I'll definitely go again but I might try a less popular class since I'm a beginner. read more

How can you complain about $4 yoga? This place / the instructors have done and continue to do so much for me - and because I am kind of a miser, I probably wouldn't go anywhere else ($6 per class, really?). My favorites are the Bikram-inspired class on Sundays, and Tuesdays at four with "happy Dave." The Saturday morning juicy yoga can be awesome too - she sings at the end, which is kind of special. You have to be more open to the "spiritual" side of yoga for the Saturday class though, which is difficult for me sometimes but probably great for others. read more
