I read the previous reviews about this place and how they didn't like it. I rented this space for a baby shower and it was amazing! The staff was professional, they were very attentive and very friendly. The place was clean and the sound system is good. This staff was on top of everything from making sure people had drinks to cleaning the tables and making sure the tables stay clean. Booking was washing going and they are very willing to work within any budget to give you the best event you can possibly have. I would recommend this place to anyone for any event. Terrible experience with booking. long story, but I have all the emails! I would never do business with this place if Devin, is still the point person. I scheduled a repass for my dad for last Saturday at Kismet. I did so, about 3 weeks prior and were in constant contact with the staff and Devin. I was renting venue only and did not require food, however I inquired of services they offer, so 3 servers were added. when I asked about parking, he told me there was a parking lot across the street, but that they do valet, whereby the guests would not have to pay individually to park, so I added this service also. I made him aware from initial contact, that I saw his space on PEERSPACE and that I do not live in NY. when I initially spoke to him, he quoted $200 more than what the exact dates and services were listed for on PEERSPACE, when i asked why, he stated that the site isn't updated and something about cleaning fee. I told him that the quote calculated on PEERSPACE included the cleaning fee and taxes. I agreed to the increase, because I still believed it was a good deal. I sent someone by the venue and went ahead to print materials bearing Kismet as the Repass Venue. I usually contact them by email and phone to ask questions or confirm things. After sending someone out, we noticed there was no parking lot across the street and that Valet parking was basically under the train line, so it wasn't anyplace in particular for parking. but I still kept that fee in place, because I saw it as less of a hassle for guests. where he decided to be nasty was when I asked him why the invoice still the 3 servers has, I had made him aware a few days prior to the final invoice being emailed that I would not need servers. we had volunteers. he started the run around, by having the ladies call me and email me back and forth with stalling conversations because I asked for him to give me a call. that call never came. the ladies were very customer friendly and warm... they were just going by his instructions. he later told them that he would remove 1 but kept 2 on the invoice. I wanted to talk with him to find out why I was being asked to pay extra money for 2 servers plus an additional $500 cleanup fee, which he told me was included, in the new higher price when we first spoke. less than 1 week before the funereal repass, this man refunded my deposit via CASHAPP without a phone call or an email. He never contact me to discuss why he was trying to overcharge me an additional $700. I would never do business with that kind of person. I was very fortunate that I was able to book Golden Palace Banquet Hall at last minute, which was up the street from Kismet, way more elegant, bigger, far better service and more affordable. We had our daughter's Baby Shower this past Sunday 2/13/2022 and the services and staff was impeccable. The staff truly catered and was attentive to your needs. All the food oh my goodness!! Those collard greens were amazzinggg!! My daughter and I was leery about the food but the owner ensured us by giving us a food tasting . So look no further Kismet is the place you will not be disappointed. Again a special thank you to the owner and his staff. I would definitely recommend Kismet. read more

Finding a catering hall during covid has been a difficult task. I had this task for a friends baby shower. Kismet made this task super smooth for me. I met with the manager Devin who was very helpful and listened to all the needs I had for this party. The pricing is extremely fair and the venue is beautiful from the inside. I just had my 50th birthday at the Kismet on 4/24/23 and it was AMAZING!! The ambience, the decor, the FOOD! Jennifer is an amazing bartender and the hostess made us feel so comfortable. The hostess was so attentive to me she was just excellent. The bathrooms are clean and they had a private room downstairs that I could wait in until I was ready to make my entrance. Devin took care of me from start to finish with the planning and he was absolutely superb. I was so happy and so were my guests. You won't go wrong with booking the Kismet it's a special place and I felt amazing. My only issue was there is no parking but putting that aside this place is priced good and they take care of everything for you so there is no stress. ***BUYER BEWARE*** I understand that catering halls prefer you use their contracted vendors but these people are a FRAUD!!! Paid over $1600 for decorations that was never delivered!! Walked into the Baby Shower horrified to see I could've bought decorations myself at Party City for a fraction of what they charged HORRIBLE!!! Nothing they promised was delivered!!! Come to find out not only is the decorator for event the girlfriend of venue owner SCAM!! We told her at party that night all the things that were missing WE PAID for and with a disrespectful attitude said she was not giving us money for missing decorations!!! Not only are reporting them to the better business bureau also filing at small claims court for the embarrassment and lack of customer service!!! read more

My cousin was scheduled to host an event here today and their manager abruptly cancelled it on the day of. Although, they argue that she still owed money toward the event, she paid more than half (over $3000, and well over the required deposit) and in violation of their contract, they refused to issue her a refund. Exploitative institutions like this give small businesses a bad name. Hopefully, they take this seriously and resolve it as soon as possible. But I just say, beware. Even if the employees are nice and the food is good, businesses with such practices are no good for our community. read more

DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT USE THIS VENUE!!!!  I will absolutely NOT recommend Kismet Catering Hall to anyone unless they want to have their precious time idled, wasted, and destroyed.  I excitedly went to see Kismet Catering Hall on May 20th. The space was perfect for my event.  I was told by the employee, let's call him "J", that he would get back to me within a few days to confirm my package after consulting with his boss.  Upon not hearing from him after several days (strike 1),  I called "J" and he still had yet to construct an agreement (strike 2).  Two more weeks have passed (strike 3) and the only thing I have heard from Kismet Catering Hall is the sound of crickets.  I understand wanting to get one's grubby little paws on the maximum amount of cash possible, and holding out for the better deal.  What I cannot understand is the complete lack of courtesy and utter disregard for a potential client.  I can respect a polite decline of my hard earned coins within a reasonable amount of time.  However, leaving a prospective patron in limbo for two weeks is unprofessional and egregious.  Kismet Catering Hall has completely overpromised and under-delivered. I will not allow this janky juke joint to disrespect my dollars or my time. "Kismet" can KISS OFF!!!!! read more

The hall is beautiful. The staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful. Jennifer and Yaya are awesome!! However, the DJ was not worth $600.00. I am extremely disappointed!!! messed up big time for my daughter's sweet 16. Where do I begin!!! I had send him a list and outline of what songs to play. The outline clearly states that my daughter will walk in to beauty and the beast song. Her party theme!! My daughter while never get this moment back!!!This is where he began to screw up!! She was confused as to when she should walk in because he didn't play the song. Then he played Spanish music in the beginning of the party and it was music that wasn't on the list. I approached him and he said my daughter's list had only Spanish music which was a lie. Her list had Drake and other music in the beginning of the list. I also, told him to play clean version of music and he play a nasty song. Which, I told him to stop playing once I hear the cursing and vogue language. Then he played freestyle music while everyone was eating and he played her reggaeton music towards the end when everyone was leaving. She didn't get to enjoy the music she had on her play list!! I hired him to play the list I gave him , not to play what he wanted. I email him and hoped he would compensate me for his mistakes!! The sweet 16 was on November 11, 2018. He hasn't responded!!!
