Creekside Coverings - Gazebo with pine roof

    Creekside Coverings

Mostly good, but several workmanship issues…read more Creekside Coverings recently completed our outdoor stair reconfiguration project, transforming our straight stairway into a more functional design with a landing and a 90-degree turn onto a paver patio. While the team finished on schedule, the final result revealed some craftsmanship challenges. The project's core functionality meets our expectations. However, in our opinion, certain details fall short of what we would consider more commonly-used construction practices. Key observations follow. 1. The deck planks on the landing are installed parallel to the support joists. This necessitated the addition of blocking between the joists. The blocking was added after the deck planks were secured to the landing frame. In addition, the decking appears to be fastened only to the landing's frame, without direct attachment to the joists or blocking. 2. The newly-constructed landing appears to have been designed without sufficient attention to detail, in our opinion. The shape of the landing necessitated the placement of an additional railing post adjacent to an existing post on the landing to properly secure the bottom section staircase railing. 3. The two new posts on the new landing are slightly different in size than the original posts, and their caps do not match the existing post caps. The contractor mentioned these items to us after they were already installed on the stairway, and he told us that they would not affect functionality. With attention to the observations above, this would easily be a five star project.

Shawn responded quickly to our inquiry about building a gazebo with a bar and set up an appointment that was convenient for us. When he came to the house, he was super professional but, more importantly, he was very personable and easy to talk with. He let us tell him what our vision was, and he helped guide us where we needed a little help. I immediately felt at ease with him and knew that I wanted this guy to do our work. There wasn't a lot of info or reviews out there on him, but I felt like I could trust him and appreciated how well he treated us. To be honest, I didn't even have anyone else come out and give me a quote after Shawn was at our house and I never do that! He told me he would get the quote to me later that night or at the latest the next day and he delivered on that promise. In fact, he delivered on EVERY promise! He was also on time...EVERY TIME and he communicated everything we needed to know at every step of the process. Shawn told us when he would start the project and how it would go and gave us a very specific finish time which he nailed! We have had several contractors do projects for us and every single time it was a nightmare for multiple reasons. With Creekside Coverings we had ZERO issues and enjoyed having Shawn at our home! It was a breath of fresh air for us! Shawn was super organized, worked clean, and gave so much attention to the detail of our project. As he was working on the gazebo and making our vision come to life, he asked us a few questions about changes to a wall we wanted included and the height of the bar. He never pressured us but wanted us to see things from a different view and I am so glad that he did that because what we thought we wanted was nowhere near as beautiful and spot on as what he suggested! He was right about making the wall only a half wall so we didn't lose our beautiful view and feel so closed in and he was right about increasing the height of the bar. It was perfect! We gave him a vision and trusted him to make it all come together and he delivered a finished product that was even better than we had dreamed of. Our new gazebo has become our happy place and the place where we spend time with our friends. We're filling our new space with a ton of new memories and we couldn't be more thankful and impressed with how it all turned out! Shawn is proud of his work and it is obvious how important it is to him that he makes his customer's visions and dreams come true. The craftmanship and artistry of his work is beautiful. His care and concern for his customers is the best part. If you want someone that puts his heart into his work and truly cares about your project, Shawn and Creekside Coverings is who you want to hire! I would hire them a thousand more times and intend to use them for a few more projects around the house. Thank you Shawn and Creekside Coverings for getting us covered!

Homecraft Remodeling redid our kitchen this past summer/fall. Overall, the quality of work was…read moredecent and the price was reasonable. The project was delayed in part due to our vacation plans rendering us not available for a few weeks and in part due to Homecraft's diverting workers to other projects in the midst of our kitchen remodel. The worst aspect of dealing with Homecraft was with one of the owners, Alan Beauchene. We didn't know he existed until the project was underway. We had only met with Matthew Roberson, who was a nice guy, but somewhat disorganized. Alan was pleasant and seemed to have a handle on the project, UNTIL NEAR THE END WHEN HE VERBALLY ATTACKED US. Out of the blue and after 3+ months of our cordial relationship, Alan sent us a text message saying he was "not happy with either of you right now." When I asked him to clarify, he continued to double down, saying we made "inappropriate decisions" and that we were "very unjust". He went on to say that "we didn't need your project", and then he threatened legal action. I again asked him to clarify and send me an invoice for any of the "extras" that had so suddenly and without notice made him so upset. He agreed in his written text to send me that invoice and then minutes later denied that he agreed. When I discussed Alan's weird, sudden attack with other Homecraft employees, they were apologetic and spoke as if this has occurred several times in the past. In fact, I subsequently did find another review on Yelp by Jessica G. in 2021 describing a similar out of the blue verbal attack. After threatening us further, he finally recused himself from our project. Jason took over and finished our kitchen. THE BOTTOM LINE IS - - - - Homecraft does decent quality work: however, they are not an organized group. Most of the employees are good people, but in my opinion, Alan apparently has a short fuse and is unpredictable! If you don't mind dealing with someone that might surprise you with insults and threats, then Homecraft might work for you, but if you want levelheaded people managing your remodeling project, you should probably look elsewhere.
