I am so jealous that many people had great experiences with Kira and her team. I unfortunately did not have the best experience. To preface, I recently moved to the area and I only had one month for alterations. In my home town 8 hours away, I have had the same seamstress for 10 years and have never had any issues like I have here. During my first appointment, Kira's team was not very personable. She seemed uninterested in being there and it felt like I was a bother coming into the shop. She was sick that day so maybe that is why it felt that way but I continued to feel that way at the following 6 appointments. I was really hoping I would be meeting with someone who was super upbeat and excited since this was going to be the dress for the biggest day of my life but that was not the case. During my first appointment, she did not ask me how I wanted my dress to look, she just started pinning the top. I later learned that she has no seamstress experience and I believe that is what caused a lot of the issues. She was not pinning the dress correctly. I think I had one or two more appointments after this at which the dress was still not close to how I wanted it to look. When I first met Kira at I believe my third or fourth appointment, she was very nice and put me at ease with how my dress would look. At my second to last appointment she was a bit rude and at one point stopped speaking to me and walked away but at least she was pinning my dress correctly and more in line with my vision than her assistant was so I just let it happen as I didn't have another choice. It took 6 fittings to get the dress to be altered from top to bottom and it was still not how I wanted it to be. I showed the assistant a picture of how I envisioned it being and it was nothing like that. They made the dress too tight to where I could not breathe but blamed it on me being bloated. I asked them if they recalled pinning it at a previous appointment and maybe it just got taken in too tight and they said no you're just bloated. I ended up telling them that I had a picture where they did in fact pin it the previous appointment and they took it in too much by mistake. They did not apologize or own up to the mistake. They told me the whole time they needed to take in the top and sides of the dress before they did the hem so it would not be too short but they ended up doing the sides and hem at the same time which did in fact make my dress too short. There was puckering down the side of my dress that they said they could not fix. I spoke with another seamstress and this is easily fixable and is typically due to poor seamstress work. At one point, they pinned down the sides the way I wanted it but said they would not cut the fabric until I decided I liked it. At the next appointment Kira was there and seemed nervous and kept ensuring me I would love the dress. I realized the reason she was saying this was because they accidentally cut the fabric out but was she honest with me about that? No. I have had many dresses altered in my life and have never experienced something like this. My seamstress back at home took in a dress 7 sizes for me in a month and it looked perfect. This dress was almost my size and was the most difficult experience I have ever had. I just moved here within the past year and trusted the recommendation from the dress shop I purchased my dress from and am highly disappointed they would recommend Kira. When I picked up my wedding dress, it did mostly turn out the way that I wanted it to other than the back as they just took it in too much (see photo for how it was supposed to look vs how mine looked. The strap and fabric are up under by armpit not my back and therefore the straps kept falling off.). They did let out the bust of the dress as much as they could, fixed the puckering, and it ended up looking how I mostly wanted it to but the process was honestly so stressful and exhausting and it shouldn't have been. I also just wish they were up front and honest with me instead of hiding their mistakes. Having that transparency would have changed this review quite a bit for me. I would not recommend going here and if you do please just have proof of everything, let them know what you want, and make sure you stand up for yourself. It is your day, not theirs. read more
