Much like DB would like to say, but with a totally different spin. I enjoy the talk format. A place to get information that isn't all in support of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Kulifornia. On the other hand the station control techs have some real problems with ad splitting and queuing, particularly in the evening. I'm guessing that's when everything is set to automation. They have to be losing ad revenue when that happens and it just seems like a no brainer to install remote operation controls. I've seen that there has been some updating of systems to incrementally get up to speed, which is funny to listen to. The most irritating thing is the constant double drop ad and show conversations. The occasional dead air can't help with income I should expect. I've had occasion to understand that it's corporate decisions that dictate where funding will go. Just think that a little bit of money, time and tech will make the stations run smooth again. Which will actually put some black ink on the balance sheet. First of all, I want to say to Mark Carbonaro that he is one of the most professional, courteous individuals, that I have ever had the pleasure to hear, over my thirty some years living here in Carmel! I met him once before, and he is just as pleasant, and congenial, in-person, as he is on the radio! Thank you, Mark, for your SUPERLATIVE, PROFESSIONAL work that you do for all of us out here in 'radio-land'! The downside to the KION radio station, is the UNBELIEVABLE lack of proper monitoring of their transmitted content, while on the air! SO MANY, MANY TIMES, I have had to endure many 'overlaps' of a multitude of commercials, and other content, simultaneously being broadcast! Doesn't ANYBODY monitor studio transmissions, who has control to eliminate the overlap? At one time, I heard as many as THREE contents being broadcast, all at the same time. I have a Radio Telephone Class 2 Radio license, and I KNOW that there is a SERIOUS lack of professional Production-Control to let that happen!! Please, do something about it!! On the upside, there is NO BETTER CONSERVATIVE RADIO than KION!! Thanks guys, for bringing the HONEST TRUTH to the Central Coast! The station must be having technical problems with their equipment OR they have 2 year olds & monkeys running the boards. The same commercials are repeated several times during identity breaks, Programming & commercials overrun each other where you can't hear one or the other. There is no way to contact the station to alert them to 'dead air' or the conditions listed above. Unbelievable & amazing that this station still continues to operate. The addition of Andy Dean in the late afternoon is a terrifically BAD CHOICE! How he got on the air is beyond me - he seems like a petulant, nasty, ill mannered individual. He's rude to his guests, he belittles most callers. He should be removed from the air waves. It's a shame that the station decided to change part of the line up by removing John Gibson & Roger Hedgecock. Pay attention KION, you must be losing listeners!! read more
