I have stopped watching MeTV because of your constant commercials from that pillow guy. I can stream any shows I want to watch.

I disagree vigorously with the posters who badmouth the on-air talent. Here's a bit of perspective…read moreto start... The on-air talent in the Monterey Bay market gets paid around $50k per year... starvation wages. The production budget for these small regional stations is pathetic. That is why the depth of coverage and the ability to stay on top of breaking stories is challenged. They do the best they can, and they are loyal to the community, and to the news. Dan Cianca is obviously immensely talented, and as comfortable as a college professor in his subject matter. We are lucky to have him. Zach McIntyre's on camera presence is certainly unique, but he is a treasure for the upbeat, enthusiastic delivery that has made him a cult hero among those of us on the Monterey Peninsula who give a standing O to station management for having the wherewithal to give us a quintessentially Californian surfer dude to make us smile every day. Veronica Macias has the presence and intelligence of a major network reporter. She is a really wonderful recent addition to the news desk. And Elisha Machado... you typically do not get that kind of depth in secondary market on-air talent. She is multi-talented, multi-faceted, and intensely focused on both the news and the community. The folks at News-Press & Gazette need to loosen those purse strings and pay these guys so we don't lose them!

In general I have preferred KION News to the altenatives, BUT this weekend they really blew it…read more I'm in Santa Cruz and on Saturday we had the largest public demonstration I have ever seen here in 35 years. The Sentinel reported some 10,000 people showed up to demonstrate against the Trump agenda. What did we hear from KION, not one word, not one picture about the happening. Biggest thing going on by far and not one word! What the F are they thinking. Goodbye KION !!!

As Bill Hicks said, "Watching T.V. is like taking black spray-paint to our third-eye." Socially-responsible and accessible to the community, this station covers issues of race and culture that others do not. And it's powered by the local company Cruzio! Check out the website - they have a whole load of Black History shorts up.

I love community TV, because they enable you to become a powerful member of the community through…read moremedia for practically nothing. For $20 you can become a member, then you take classes for about $20 a piece so you can receive your producer credential, your editing permits, camera access, etc. It's awesome. They do have guidelines, but basically you can put whatever you want on television. I think sometimes people are under the misconception that community TV doesn't matter. They couldn't be more wrong! A few years ago David Arquette came to Santa Cruz and did a segment on community TV and less than a month ago Darryl Hannah was on talking about the environment. And let's not forget Wayne's World. The staff at community TV are friendly and inviting, and are filled with advice, patience, and willingness to make your ideas come to life. If you have any creative passion, or have a message or story you'd like to promote, I suggest going to Community TV and making your dreams a reality,
