I subscribed to this paper for 90 Days (only) during one of their special offers. Folks at the Herald called a week or two after I began getting the paper and asked how I liked the paper. I said it was fine, though I wanted to make sure my subscription would end at 90 Days. The person calling said she would make sure the subscription would end at 90 Days. About two weeks later, someone from the Herald called to see if I'd like to subscribe to the paper! I mentioned that I already receive the paper on their 90 Day special offer, and that I want delivery to end at 90 Days from the date the 90 Day Special Offer began. This person assured me the deliveries would end at the prescribed date. Last week I received an invoice from the Herald billing me for the next month. -- Despite the agreement that my 90 Day Special Offer would end at 90 Days, which was early in November, it appears the Herald fails to honor Their Own commitment and would rather keep delivering the paper even though I don't want it.

It is even more disappointing when I am told it will be replaced that morning and it never comes. Yea today I got my paper on time and able to read it with my morning coffee. I am happy reading my paper and as I turn the page there is black tape across the print of a story I am not able to read. I was confused as to why, turns out the paper was torn and patched with dark black tape that cover the story print??? The newspaper had 2 other areas that were ripped and covered with brown tape.

Santa Barbara, La Jolla, San Francisco, Denver and I even lived in Kyoto, Japan for a couple years. No I really wasn't running away but the more I traveled the more I began to appreciate Monterey or the 831 region. A lot of beautiful nature, postcard picture-esque beaches, home to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and then some... But after reviewing the magazine I got a kick out of the clever advertisements, local models and had a chance to learn more about where I grew up. I still like to get away to party hard but I'll definately go out more in Monterey after reading 831 Magazine not necessarily out out but to tasting events, restaurants and maybe do a little shopping. Support the local economy if you will. I'm sending a copy or 2 out to friends who grew up here as they are fascinated about the idea of this magazine.

-as i walk in to work "can you do us a favor and take the resident to her dr's appointment?"…read more-my response "ugh!........ok sure....." lol -we get into the bus and trott along to the office, we check in and the dr asks me a few questions regarding the resident then shuts the door to be with her privately during their session -chillin in the wait area, i come across 831MAG...i was like wha? -sat my ass down and flipped thru the pages, interesting............. -all local ish! predominantly monterey....like whoa! and the quality is impeccable ala vouge -local stories, interviews with locals, local models for local shops/designers -they have a local's facebook face page also a myspace face page -and guess what? on the 831 review it's a YELP page! with reviews from the yelpers on local restaurants! as i text vicky t. "hey your review of casanova in carmel is in the 831 magazine" -they wrote "reviews are taken from a review website we love called yelp.com" aawwwwww -i'm bout to take a pic of the page when the receptionist gave me a the what the hell? look "i'm taking a pic of it" -she replies "oh, you can have that, i have 2 more around here" -IT MADE ME DAY

Patricia Hamilton charges $75 an hour and takes a cash/check payment retainer upfront. I paid her $260 retainer for my project based on her estimation of 6 hours. I met her 3 times totaling 2 hours & 25 minutes ($169). Unfortunately, only 1 hour and half was spent on design ($98), the rest of the time was spent discovering her inability to work with windows and her limited ability working with MacBook. Since she was unable to start the project, I collected my material and asked for partial reimbursement. To my surprise, she refused to pay and had the audacity to claim that she spent time to discover/learn how to use the proper font on MacBook. Before signing up with Park Place Publication (AKA: Patricia Hamilton) consider her lack of ethic and professionalism.
