This place seems to be bustling at all hours of day. We waited for about 20 minutes on a Saturday for dinner. Tried a ramen, don, and fried chicken app. All were tasty and delivered quick. The ramen broth looks very clean and light but tastes quite rich and full of flavor. The don was cooked with the perfect combo of katsu to egg to rice. The fried chicken was both tender yet crispy. One recommendation for the restaurant is to not use so much sesame seeds in the ramen broth. By the end, literally had seeds swimming in the broth, looked like 1/4 of a cup was used. We sat at the bar and really got a nice show of the chefs at work in the kitchen. We were mesmerized by the seamless logistics and speed!

Had the chicken ramen. The broth was good, and the chicken was very tender. The kimchi was way too salty. Should be a 4 star. But the chopsticks were not very clean, I had to wash it with water and vinegar before I used it.

Great selection! Tasty dishes! Amazing service! Already been there twice! Will keep going back

Shio Ramen

We ordered a Shio Ramen and a Shoyu Ramen. All I can say is that we are disappointed... the broth of the ramen is weak. The shoyu tasted pure soy sauce. The chasu (marinated pork belly) from the ramen is good but the rest is just so-so. While eating, we noticed that people are ordering other type of foods: Fried rice, fried noodle, etc. You get what it means... Therefore, don't go there if you expect a good ramen

We are Ramen Lovers, we have tried ramen in many cities and many ramen brands have also opened franchise in US and Europe. It's like a trend. Even my Caucasian husband knows the difference between good and average ramen now. He said this place is lacking all 3. Soup stock, Noodle and chashu (pork). I had mapo ramen and it wasn't great at all. The flavor is lacking. My husband also commented that even my bone soup has a lot more flavor than this place.

The restaurant is setup like a giant cafeteria and they churn out food fast. They have a wide and reasonably priced menu so if you're craving Japanese food and looking for a short wait, this is the spot. Even if there's a line outside, it moves quickly. I had the mapo tofu ramen (first time I've seen that on a menu) and gyoza combo, and the black sesame pudding. Everything was fine, but not too memorable. Decent in a pinch.

Gyoza and yakisoba.

Very busy restaurant near Opera. Seems quite popular with the locals. We came around 9:30pm on a Thursday, and the tables were mostly full. There's a good variety on the menu. We tried a ramen with seaweed, gyoza, and yakisoba. The ramen noodles are al dente, but they taste different than typical ramen. I liked that it came out piping hot, but the broth was nothing special. Yakisoba is bland, and the noodles were a bit harder than they should be. Gyoza has decent fillings, but the skin was a bit tough. Overall, an ok place for a quick meal, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. There are many restaurant choices in the area, and I don't think I will go back again. I did notice that the locals tend to order the rice-don dishes so perhaps those were better.

Pork Kayatsu, we ordered chicken Kayatsu, and they still wanted me to pay for what we did not eat

I don't understand why they have a big following. We love our Asian food. We for there when they first opened only 4 or 5 couples were in, we sat down right away, didn't get our menus for about 5 minutes that should have been one of the red flags. Once we got our menus didn't get water and our drinks for another 5 minutes 2nd red flag still not busy at that moment, then the The waitress took our order we ordered our starters and Chicken kayatsu what we got was a cold starts and pork Kayatsu my wife doesn't eat pork she thought it was dark chicken for the first 4 bites, I was still eating my starter once I took a bite of the Kayatsu I noticed right away it was pork ugh I told my wife she was very upset at this time the restaurant was full of customers tried to get ahold of waitress she was running around and did not look up, we got ahold of a runner and told him what just happened he took my wife and my plate away then I think a manager came up and asked us what happened and we told him we don't eat pork and asked for Chicken Kayatsu, my wife left the restaurant and told me before going to stay and eat so when my order came back it was now Chicken. When I got the bill, I saw they charged me for 2 Chicken Kayatsu, so I walked up to the casher counter and asked them to fix the bill. I had to explain to him my wife left and did not eat at all, then explaining to him again that I am only paying for the food that was eaten. He realized after 5 minutes I was not playing around about this and would not pay what was not consumed by us, and I would have waited until the cop's would have shown up. If that had taken place, I would have become the big green American hulk. I am 6 foot 4, by the way, and I wouldn't have budgeted about this issue. I guess the cashier finally realized that and noticed the restaurant was full, and a line of people were waiting to be settled outside. he said, "ok." I didn't like that I had to become the bad American, and it made me upset for the first time in over 6 weeks of being here that it had to come to this. I work really hard to be nice, and I have to work really hard to keep my anger in check. It's too easy for me to let my anger become the best of me.

Loved it ! When me and my group went it was not full . As I've noticed other reviews they complain about how full it was . I tried the pork Ramen noodle and it was sooooo good trust me you will not regret it .

Kintaro is located a block from the famous Rue Saint Anne and steps away from the Opera in Pari's "Japan Town". We got there just before 8pm and were immediately seated, opting for a place at the bar. The menu was enormous but basically comes down to the japanese canteen basics - ramen, udon, curry and bento. I had a delicious nato bento box (a popular japanese vegetarian dish made from fermented soybeans) and was happy to find it! My boyfriend got the beef onion dish and insisted we come back again. And again. And again. Very reasonable prices - for just about 12 euro you are stuffed ! The food seemed fresh and the ambiance was jovial.

Good Japanese food. They had a long line but it went fast. Had gyoza and nabeyaki udon which were both good. Prices were average.

As good as any other Japanese restaurant I've had all over the US and probably close to others I've had in Japan. The karaage was light, crispy and not greasy. The agedashi tofu was excellent. The miso eggplant really grew on me. Never had anything quite like it before. Half an eggplant baked with miso glaze on it. You can get the soba hot or cold with various additions. The hot broth was clean but super flavorful. The mochi was solid. You only get 3 half pieces though. Matcha, black sesame, and one other flavor I couldn't quite place. The creme brulee was excellent. A hint of sesame. I love that they have no reservations. First come first serve. Service was excellent. Classic Japanese decor with dark aged wood look. The bathroom is decorated with a bunch of empty sake bottles. Great find!!

Because it was a cold, dipping soba, it was perfect for the warmer weather. The sauce and fresh wasabi was the perfect combo - simple flavors that were just delicious. 4. I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in Paris!

I was shocked when I read Takara is the oldest Japanese restaurant in Europe. I thought they were…read morecappin, but my rigorous 5 minute google research says this is true. It only opened in 1958, which sent me into an existential spiral. A city that is such a cultural melting pot like Paris, and Europe as a whole, got their first Japanese restaurant in 1958? The world has not been connected for very long. I don't know why, but this really put time into perspective for me. When we stepped off the Parisian streets and into Takara, it literally felt like we just entered a worm hole to Tokyo. They somehow bottled the energy in Japan and brought it to Paris. You could take a breath in here. There was just such a calming, respectful energy in here that I have only felt in Japan. When making a reservation, you are required to order either Shabu Shabu or Sukiyaki which honestly was kind of annoying. We just wanted to rip a bunch of sushi. 52 euro a head was the cheapest option, and we went with that because I'm a brokie. We sat down in the most authentic Japanese ambiance that I have ever set foot in outside of Japan. I was so damn inspired. One of the walls was lined with 70+ different types of beautifully crafted Japanese wallpaper, and I wanted to steal it and bring it back home to line the walls of my tiny NYC apartment. Along with our forced shabu shabu, we went with a mixed nigiri platter, 3 different cut rolls, and some fried chicken. My Chase Sapphire Preferred card was in hell. The nigiri and cut rolls went absolutely insane. The thing about writing food reviews is there are only so many positive adjectives in my repertoire. It was better than any nigiri I've had outside of Japan. Maybe the quality of fish has been the same in LA or NYC, but the vibe in here just took it up a notch... See, my words are futile to describe the feeling this fish gave me. I would honestly love to hate on the shabu shabu that we were held at gunpoint to try, but it was also PHENOMENAL. Maybe it's just a case of Stockholm syndrome, but it was magical. Thin cuts of beef with the most perfect marbling, paired with fresh vegetables to cook in a hot pot right in front of you? How could you not love it? The waitress came over and got us started, showing us how to operate the shabu shabu machine. All in all, this was my 2nd favorite meal we had in Paris only behind the Senegalese restaurant Waly Fay. However, Takara did HURT the pockets. I don't even know how much it ran, I just winced as I tapped my Chase card. I'm refusing to look at the statement as it's all just monopoly money on vacation, right? We saw Paris' first snow of the season as we planned a day to spend at Champs-Elysees and to see the Arc de Triomphe. As it began to snow heavily we got cold and decided to call it an early evening and headed back to the hotel to rest and warm up but we were also hungry so we walked down Rue des Abbesses to find something to eat. Now we love Parisian food. The breads, butters, all of that. However, we are Filipinos and we still miss eating rice so we opted for Asian cuisine and that is how we found this gem of a restaurant. The food was amazingly delicious! From their salad dressing to the perfectly seasoned miso soup. Then came our entrees...the sushi was so fresh that every bite was sweet and refreshing. The Yakitori is beyond delicious. Mouthwatering even as the more you eat, the more you want it. Their pork cutlets were thinly sliced and very lightly breaded. One of the best ones I've ever eaten. The place was so good we came back the next day to have a late lunch and ordered the same things we ate the night before! With the addition of their tempura mix since the night before they ran out. The place is small and not packed with a lot of people which is why I called it a hidden gem in the first place. I'm not gatekeeping this folks, highly recommended if you're ever in the Montmartre area in Paris. You won't be disappointed!

The food is mostly various Japanese Udon soup, but it is done so well we were blown away. We have had a lot of Japanese food in the US and countless trips to Japan and this is some of the best we have had outside of Japan. The owner is from Kochi, Japan and the food is authentic. We took the shrimp/vegetable tempura, katsu curry udon as well as the kunitora. All came out together and piping hot. The katsu curry udon was outstanding and definitely a do not miss dish. The katsu was so crispy and cooked to perfection. The dish itself was very interesting because there was a healthy portion of curry poured over the soup that the meat sits on top, then as you eat, the curry and soup mix more, and you get a rich delicious broth at the end with all the udon. The tempura was done well. We also had matcha ice cream which is texturized with various cereals on top and bottom of the ice cream as well as a tasty crispy wafer. The service is quick and effective, they speak English well and were so nice. The place is busy so be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes for a spot - it is well worth it. The atmosphere is a really nice open bistro with modern design and classic rock and pop 80s-90s music.
