Afterwards, we wanted a place to open up our gifts and hang out some more. What do two people who grew up in the Beaches go? We hit the closest beach, which was Lakeview Park Beach. This beach doesn't take long to get to. It's basically off highway 401 and straight south for a few minutes. It has a large park, a lovely beach, and is next door to Oshawa Museum. There are a few parking lots here. We went into the farthest one and had no problem nabbing a couple of spots. Parking is free. My car straddled a speed bump. It was a first for me! It was fairly busy when we got there before 6 pm. We managed to find a cute area with wooden benches. There were folks taking professional photos, kids going into the water for a swim, and more. We opened up our presents with a sandy beach with ripples in the water as our backdrop. Pretty good! I felt relaxed and happy, as I typically am at a beach, but even more with a good friend. We chatted and watched more kids go into the water to swim. There is some sort of incineration facility by the pier. It's not exactly horrific, but it did look odd at a beach. At around 6:30 pm, a woman on a megaphone indicated that there was no lifeguard on duty. We still saw kids go into the water. The pier has a lighthouse. It looked cute. We didn't walk down there, but we want to when we're not hauling gifts. The splash pad is amazing. It looks new. There's a huge, clear container that slowly tips thanks to gravity, dumps the water out, hits a large plate, and water splashes on everyone around it. It was so fun to watch that we both stood there watching the whole thing a few times, vowing to return one evening at 10 pm to partake in this fun. Adult splash pad? Yes, please! We walked along the cement path for a bit to check out everything. The path is no boardwalk, but it was pleasant and sure beats walking on sand for the entire duration. We both didn't know that this park existed until my friend did a search. The trees have huge trunks diameter-wise, so they've been around and it was lovely see see them. I am grateful for the find. It was lovely chatting in-person with her after a year of physically distancing ourselves during a pandemic. Miracles happen and yesterday felt like one at this wonderful gem of a beach. (253)

We came here mainly for a walk and managed to finish a section of a trail which spans about 4km both ways. Trail is decent but not as nice as the one in Rouge Valley. Trail is also a bit narrow and not many pretty sights or well maintained grasses along the way. Beach sand has lots of pebbles so not the greatest for barefoot adventures. You do get to approach a long dock with a lighthouse at the end of the path which gives you a nice open view of boats docked and sailed. Overall not much wow factor here asides from a little walk and some lakefront views. Unless you live in the neighborhood not worth the trip.

That could be hard on some peoples feet. I didn't go swimming as I wasn't sure about the water quality. But I did see several people swimming. There is one handicap washroom at the gift shop & some picnic benches outside of the gift shop. The washroom near the beach was okay for a pubic park washroom. It was super hot in there though. All the windows were closed so all the heat stayed trapped inside. Not sure if I would come back here. They need shower facilities near the beach but there weren't any in the area I visited.

When our respective regions hit phase 2 of reopening businesses, we felt that it was safe to meet and celebrate our birthdays at a restaurant patio. It was a success. We chose to not open up our presents on the patio, in case this action made customers uneasy. Okay, what alternatives did we have? We stood outside Winners and searched for a park. We found Green Park that was within driving range. I can get by figuring out where things are in this town, but I haven't been to Bowmanville for nearly three years! My inclination was correct with where this park was. My friend followed me as I led us over to Green Park. Green Park has a parking lot. And, no, it's not Green P... haha! It's free. It also has disability parking that was clearly marked. There were a grand total of five cars, including ours. There were a couple of benches by the tennis courts where people can sit and relax. There were a few folks playing tennis. The two people who were on the bench decided to leave. We weren't feeling going over to the bench. My friend surprised me by saying that she had foldable chairs in her car's trunk. Wow! We grabbed them and our gifts, and headed over to a grassy area to sit down and chat. It worked well. We were on the soccer field, but on a corner. Being in a pandemic, we didn't anticipate a soccer match happening that would run us over. Folks were obeying social distancing. The exception was a mutt who came over to say hi to us. My friend was worried that this dog viewed her gift to me as a fire hydrant for him to relieve himself, but it all worked out. His human asked him to join him and he did. It was a nice evening. The humidity was nonexistent and it was partly sunny. We chatted, laughed, and opened our presents. The grass on the soccer field had lots of dandelions and wasn't really green like its park name implies. However, it was green in other areas. It was all good to us. We liked this park. It suited our needs and it was nice to catch up. We have plans to do a picnic here soon. It was a cool find and is a nice park in Bowmanville. (199)

So much fun, very organized and the space is huge! Although the space is broken up into a few sections (basketball, balance beam, foam pit, etc), the main trampoline area is open with no mesh barriers. This allows you to have a perfect view of your little ones from the perimeter. Parents are welcome to join as the this park is open to all ages but it's also nice to let the kids exert their energy while you conserve your own from a far :) . You are required to wear grip socks when jumping and they are available for purchase. They host several birthday parties daily but somehow it never feels overly crowded. There's always enough room to allow for a safe and fun experience. The staff are enthusiastic and I have seen them calmly address some minor injuries, quickly arriving to the scene with some ice. They recently made a change if you haven't visited the place in a while. They removed one of the two inflatable jumping areas and replaced it with something similar to the new Upla nets at Tree Top Trekking Parks. Lots of fun! Come once and you will definitely return.

At entrance, you MUST sign the computer waivers (to the LEFT)before paying at the front counter. You are also supposed to watch the safety video, which no one checks if you really have. This is a bit dangerous since I witnessed many people crossing trampoline squares while someone is bouncing. We bring our own non slip socks from taekwondo or other jump places and have never encountered a problem. I will remark Flying Squirrel socks are much nicer for grip pattern, style(army pink) and are longer to half up the calf muscle. The space is really large and so many neat areas to play. There are attendants at stations where there are height restrictions. Signs are posted everywhere but who reads these? Attendants also rotate stations which is smart, just like lifeguards. They all seemed nice when we have gone. They do not police strictly as many kids are doing gymnastics(flips, layouts, backhand springs) and little kids can run in the way. Lots of seating for parents, paid lockers at the front but most just drag around water bottles and backpacks. There's a small arcade at the front, 25 cents for ticket with some games requiring 9 tickets. Really like how they offer toddler pricing (up to 6 yr old) since these kiddos cannot do all the jumping stations. 90 mins is a good amount of time to sweat out their craziness.
