Dirty Poor service Thought I might want to eat there but changed my mind due to the service and questionable cleanliness.

I accidentally posted this under my old profile but Tiny's Coffee Bar is so good it deserves to be…read morereviewed twice! My bridal shower at Tiny's. It was suggest by a friend but I had never been. The experience was wonderful! The entire staff was attentive to our party and there were other large parties there. I had the salmon salad and 2 espresso martinis, both were delicious. The food was so good we all sampled each others' - apple French toast, chicken biscuit with cheese grits, fries and the grilled PB&J. I should have ordered one of those to go. The coffee bar is quite large on the inside with two sides and a nice size bar. Matt, the owner, communicated with my friends to make sure everything para perfect for the shower. We got to meet his mom who was lovely as well. Tiny's is clearly a gathering spot for the community. It's worth the trip to Gary.

Very cute place, and the waitress was very attentive and gave us recommendations, came back often to check on us and refill our drinks. Lots of drink options, including cocktails, wine, beer, cider. I got a grapefruit radler which I don't see too often. Several yummy looking things in the menu, and vegetarian and gluten free options. I went with the recommendation of vegetarian fried rice, topped with a fried egg. My friend got the chips and guac and pork belly side. We both liked the food quite a bit! A great find! Lots of people were there, and there was live music which was a bit loud, but definitely recommend this spot.

The Copper Room is a moderately upscale, soul food dining experience. They also have an event…read morespace. It's a little hard to find because it's attached to another business and the parking lot is next to the adjacent building. It's not too far, but there is a little walk to get to the front door. I mention this because both my mother and I have disabilities. The dining room is cozy with mood lighting. The lights could stand to be a bit brighter. Us older folks might have trouble reading the menu in the dark. As for our visit, we went on a Sunday afternoon around 1ish. When we got there no one was there, but when we left the room was almost at capacity. The menu is decent (see pic). My mom and I both opted for the soul platters with half a roasted chicken. We also ordered their maple bourbon Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. I didn't want the brussel sprouts because I felt like it would be too much food. Let me tell you...GET THE BRUSSEL SPROUTS!!! 10/10!!! Imagine a caramel corn glaze with candied pecans as the base of the sauce. I took one bite and it was a wrap. We ate an ENTIRE heap of those things before our food came out. Couldn't stop eating them. Just trust me and get them! We expected to have leftovers but that didn't work out. Best glazed brussel sprouts I've ever had. For the entree we had roasted chicken, sweet potatoes, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. The roasted chicken was delicious, but inconsistent. My chicken had a deep browned and heavily seasoned skin. I think it was smoked or grilled because it had a smoky flavor and smell. My mom's chicken looked a bit under seasoned and not as brown, but the flavor was excellent. Hers was juicier and more tender. I'd give it an 8/10. The greens were fine but salty. Also, a little on the mushy side. 6/10. We were divided on the mac and cheese. My mom enjoyed it. Me? Not so much. The dish was dry and overly seasoned (not in a good way). There was no cheesy texture at all. The flavor might have been better if there was a creamier, cheesier texture. I give it a 4/10. Next were the yams. Again, my mom and I disagreed on them. I fairly enjoyed them. My mom wasn't as impressed. Our differences? She prefers her yams SWEET! These were not overly sweet which is exactly why I liked them. I would have been fine were they just a little sweeter, but I thought they were sweet enough. Where the dish could have improved was that the potatoes were a tad undercooked. Another 8-10 minutes would have made a decent dish better. I give the yams a 6/10. Finally, the cornbread. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be cornbread or corn pudding. It was very moist (wet). It was tasty, but I wasn't sure about the texture. I'd give it a 6/10. The flavor was decent but the texture was off. One big oops on their part was that after we'd already ordered I recalled seeing Facebook ads for weekend brunch. I had forgotten about it and not only did they not mention that they had brunch specials but they didn't even provide a brunch menu. I asked the waitress if they still had brunch specials and she said yes until 3. It was only a few minutes after 1. Had they offered, I would have ordered from the brunch menu. All in all I enjoyed the experience enough that I would give them another try. They are still relatively new (only been open about 4 months or so), and I'm sure they are still working out the kinks, so I will give them some grace. I encourage you to try them. They have some winners that are worth the visit and there are other dishes I want to try. The dishes that I rated moderately might have just been off today. The service was excellent for the record.

Won't do a full review until trying again but the meal was very good, atmosphere was nice different…read morefrom a traditional fine dining experience, and service was good as well.
