Do not recommend getting wood chips from Kings trees. It's full of misc garbage: 3 gloves, 1 food containers, shreds of pink and green plastic strips, shredded blue and green wires, 1 log, a few hundred u chipped branches. Tony is a great guy and if you get him at the site, then you'll get solid service and clean-up. If he sends one of his crews and he isn't there, which is happening more and more with his son running things, then expect some damage and low accountability. In this case, they had the opportunity to drop the limbs of a tree on the side where there is nothing in the way but in their haste, they just dropped them on the fence and on another property. They then jumped over the fence (even when receiving approval to enter the adjacent backyard via a gate, and because the fence was a little older, they snapped two posts by dropping several large limbs and jumping over the fence. When speaking with the neighbor just to try and repair the fence, not even placing accountability on the workers, the crew lead looked at me and said, "We didn't do that." Ouch on accountability since they certainly did do it. You can see from the photo that the branches they were dropping, took out section of fence drooping down and several post toppers were broken off. Anyway, I'll use King's only if Tony confirms he'll be there. If not, I'll use the several other quality tree services near me which I have on several occasions. read more

Our HOA hired them to trim a tree that overhung our property. They quit just a couple of feet away from 3 large dead branches. When questioned about their all too obvious stopping point they said they would continue for double the money. All attempts at resolving the situation went nowhere as all communication attempts were completely ignored. They took down a couple of dying fir trees over 100 feet tall near our house and outbuildings. They chipped up the branches, cut the logs into firewood lengths, and cleaned up the debris afterward. This company did not take any responsibility for the job they did on my neighbors home. They did not have the appropriate permits and didn't even realize what jurisdiction they were working in. They helped destroy habitat for the wildlife in the area and took so many trees out that they destroyed the privacy and property values. Their crew was unprofessional, using the 'F' word loudly and frequently and cheering every time they destroy the habitat living in the tree. Don't hire them unless you want to unset all your neighbors. read more

We had Kings trees remove a dead cascara tree (very sad) and prune the branches of our green trees around the power lines. They came earlier than expected, were very friendly, and were blazing fast. We wanted to keep the chips for mulch and of course they were happy to oblige. The pruning work they did was excellent. Pricing was reasonable. Worst Customer Experience Ever! Gave King Trees a one star for taking down a big difficult tree as the tree came down safely, however dealing with his crew (specifically Tony's son) was appalling. Overall, the crew was less property and clean up focused that other tree companies we've used but this critical review is the result of a rude, arrogant and dismissive interaction with someone who we later learned is the son of the owner. We made numerous calls to Tony to address the interaction and to discuss the mess left at our house. We learned he was on vacation - which everyone is entitled to take. Our expectation was to get a call or a text to acknowledge our issue and to set up a time to talk when he returned from holiday. Shocking to us that we got ZERO response for 10 days. Very surprising for a small business owner. Even more surprising was our conversation with the owner when he returned. Very unsatisfactory experience. read more

These are the guys to use! Its too bad I can only pick 5 stars, this company deserves 10 stars. I have had many problems with contractors coming out for a quote, or coming out late, or on the wrong day, or not at all!! But none of the above was the case with Kings Trees. Tony came out on the day he said he would and at the time he said. Perfect so far... He is busy, as the best guys out there are. We looked at the work to be done, he gave me a quote and a date when they would be out. A month later, holy mackerel!! Here they come! on the right date and right on time in the afternoon as promised!!! As if that wasn't refreshing enough in its own, his crew was made up of some very friendly and personable guys. He had a second crew come by later and they were like the first, great attitudes, a sure sign that Tony is a great guy to work for...or that he just gave them all a $1,000.00 bonus! They did the work, just like Tony and I talked about. Being an HVAC estimator by trade, I understand how hard it can be to keep schedules and properly relay to workers what to do on different jobs. Tony is a really friendly guy who knows his stuff. He came out on short notice and gave me a fair and honest quote. He helped narrow down what needed to be done, as well as offer some advise in other areas of our yard as well. My experience was anything but bad. I wish he had been a little easier to get ahold of, as there were some revisions to be made with our original game plan. He's a busy guy in the Duvall/Carnation area, so I'm not faulting him on that. Tony King and his team showed up on time and ready to go. I had a huge big leaf maple tree in my backyard and there were serious safety concerns with it. There wasn't much space to take it down, so Tony and his crew had to use a rope system to lower the upper canopy to the ground. Once they got to the trunk, they were able to cut rounds and drop them on the ground. The team of four workers moved efficiently and safely. The branches were put in the chipper and the rounds were placed near the street for someone to come take them away. Tony arranged to have the rounds picked up the next day. They left the yard looking better than it did before they started. I was impressed with their thoroughness and would recommend them to anyone needing large or small tree work done. read more

Tony is very knowledgeable and approachable. He came out the day after I called and gave me a fair quote. We had a very large number (20+) of smaller trees and shrubs (one at 40', the rest at 20' or shorter) that were overgrown, dead, or dying, and needed to be removed. Tony walked the property with me and named each tree as we went, letting me know if he thought it should be remomved, or if a cleaning would work. He wrote up the bid and gave me a great price. Realize, however, that he's a busy man. He came out to give me a quote the day after I called, but was booked for a full month before his crew could come remove the trees! His crew did a great job and were very efficient. They cleaned up the whole yard, ground stumps, etc... There was a lot of smoking but no butts left on my property (though there were a few empty energy drink cans I found later). The trees they trimmed but did not remove were cleaned up nicely and look beautiful and healthy now. The job site foreman would stop and ask me to confirm each of the trim jobs as he went along to make sure I was satisfied with how much was trimmed, and provide suggestions on what he could cut more if we wanted more trimmed. The only reason for 4/5 stars was because the actual crew had a hard time adapting from the original plan. Our original, quoted plan was to have a certain tree (amongst the 20) removed, but when they came I asked if they would leave that tree. They said that would be fine, but mid way through the job their second crew came in to help and were not updated on the new plan, and removed the tree before I could stop them. I can't really complain because they were just following the original, quoted plan, but it was a shame to see the nice tree go. If you have them come do your job, just realize it's probably in your best interest to take the day off work to watch them work and make sure they don't cut something down they shouldn't. I also wish Tony would have been a little more hands on. He really seemed to know his stuff but on the day of the work, he just showed up for a quick jobsite walk-through mid-day, waved hello, and left again. While I wasn't too concerned with the trees being removed, I would have liked to see him supervise the tree trimming operations a little more. All in all, they did a great job and were very fast, clean, and friendly, I will definitely recommend them. read more

Have had Tony out to my property several times over the last seven years or so to remove a couple of large trees and for maintenance pruning on a rather tall and long Leyland Cypress hedge! In every instance they were on time and worked quickly, efficiently and safely in accomplishing the task at hand! They also do a very good job in cleaning up after the job is complete! I'm sure all the other 5 star ratings are sincere, but I had a different experience. Tony (owner) bid a job for my neighbor to take down a Doug Fir that was well over 100 ft. I consented to allow them to use my property to get the limbs out & get them chipped as long as they didn't tear up my gravel path. He assured me the path would be cleaned up and look like they had not been there. They did a good job of making sure it looked as good as it did when they arrived. However, for these next reasons, I would not hire King's Trees:1. Careless approach to job/lack of common sense/communication -Nothing was mentioned to either my neighbor or myself how or where the tree would be felled. Tony did not communicate it to my neighbor during the bid process. However, the most grievous error was made by the lead guy on the crew. (Tony was not present at job) The lead guy apparently made the directional wedge cut without completely checking out the path the tree would fall. He did not bother to walk down to see that the blue tarp on my property that was potentially within reach of the tree was in fact covering an old classic car, not a wood pile as told me later he assumed. Luckily, he realized it was not a wood pile before he actually finished cutting the tree. However, he then attempted to get me to move the car (which could not be moved) and was not happy that I could not move the car. He did not want to have to climb back up to cut it off higher. I have had 3 different companies take down trees as big or bigger than the one King's Trees removed and ALL of them cut the tree down by small sections from the top down. None of them tried to fall it as an entire tree and ALL of them were careful to check out the area for hazards and ask me about drain fields etc. BEFORE they started to cut the tree. Both my neighbor (who hired them) and I were not happy with this careless approach and luckily my car was not hit. 2. Reliability- I wanted to be there when the job was going on (and I'm glad I was). My neighbor was told they would arrive first Monday, (they arrived at end of day Monday to tell him they would be back Tues) Tuesday, they just didn't show up or even call. After my neighbor called wondering what the story was (and finding out the owner was on vacation), he was told they would arrive Thursday, which they did...3 days later than originally planned. I'm sorry, but no number of good reviews will clean the bad taste out of my mouth on this company. read more

5 years ago my neighbor had Tony and crew remove several huge trees. I was a professional logger 40 years ago so I watched their process with interest. They very efficiently/safely chunked the trees.
