My daughter selected Kings Buffet after her softball game. The Buffett was well stocked and had a variety of options. Most everything was good. I did not like their hot and sour soup had a funny taste. Everything else was good. I did have to flag the waitress down to get our waters refilled. Otherwise everything was ok. Overall it was good. I really hesitated eating here at King buffet. The business only uses styrofoam plates and plastic forks and plastic spoons. I was very pleased with the authenticity of the food. It was amazing and authentic. I forgot to take pictures but I did take a picture of their homemade dumplings. They were the bomb. Thursday , February 1 and it's winter outside. A couple of minutes inside Kings Buffet and I realize that's it's extremely hot and humid inside. Like New Orleans in the summer time. Widows fogged up in the inside. This restaurant has a couple of firsts that I have never seen at an oriental restaurant. Hot tea with genuine Lipton tea bags, Hot Dogs Wrapped in bacon and deep fried. And chicken nuggets for sweet and sour chicken. The building is worn and in need of serious attention. Carpet seams split all over. vinyl seat covers torn and patched with tape. I should have turned around and left in retrospect. The food was mediocre to poor in many respects. Beef that appears to have been simmered for hours to make it slimy tender. Chicken that was rubbery and pork that was similar. The Hot sour soup was basically egg drop soup without egg but added tofu and cabbage shreds. I did try one of the shrimp dishes and after a couple of chews, was relegated to the nearest napkin. Guess it's vegetarian tonight. There were a couple pure vegetable dishes. Others the vegetables had to be picked out. The staff was extraordinarily quiet. Basically limited to How many? More Drink? and Done with Plate? A poor experience at best for a Thursday night price of $14. read more

I don't normally do reviews, but I felt this place deserved one - and a good one. I grew up on Hawaii so Chinese food is in my DNA. the problem is, finding a good place is tough. I also travel for work and the same issue exists... finding a good Chinese place. For a buffet, this place isn't half bad. The food was good and they have some things I haven't seen since living in Hawaii. Their dim sum was delicious, the chicken wasn't bad and the service was very prompt. We came at 8pm on a Thursday night, but several of the foods had been on the steam table way too long, Low or out of several others. Just don't get your hopes up. I'd give less than a star. There was not one thing that tasted good. The egg rolls tasted rotten meat, the crab rangoon tasted sour,the honey chicken seriously was over cooked, the chicken on a stick was super chewy, the lomain was just wrong. The brownies well I think they were very old even the sprinkles didn't do it justice. I don't recommend eating there. I will never again. read more

Not to bad for a buffet. Good selection. Most food was pretty fresh and it was almost 2. Generally I like to go early as possible for lunch so as get get it freshly made. Crab Rangoons were old and that was disappointing considering they are generally the best in town. Unlike Hunans Buffet, Kings actually marinates and seasons their food and the taste shows. We've all been to Chinese buffet restaurants. Some splurge on atmosphere. This place doesn't. But the food works. It's always good and flavorful. It's not gourmet by any standards, but as a Chinese food buffet, it works great. The best thing it has going is the carry-out specials. You can load up a 1-trip buffet box, have it weighed, and then skip back to work, and it's very reasonably priced. (It's also available for dinner take-out. It's more expensive, but still, it's like $5/pound for dinner or $3.50/lb for lunch. Where else can you get that kind of deal?) It also helps with portion control. Some rice, some General's Chicken, pepper chicken, egg roll-- it's all good. They also put out spring rolls as well, and actually have buffet dumplings. That's bad, by the way. Buffet dumplings. I could sit and eat them all day. Seriously. But anyway...The egg drop soup here is really good. WOW! I was never so happy to not eat steak. Actual Asian food in Nebraska!! The buffet had giant crab legs, dim sum, sushi type rolls, won ton soup, sweet and sour...all the Chinese food standards that I had come to take for granted living in LA. This food here is really not very good by any standard and would probably get one star but it gets an automatic two extra stars for the simple fact that this is the only place you can get sushi (albeit terrible sushi) within a 100 mile radius, as well as about 4/5 of the rest of the things on this buffet (which are slightly better). read more

Good was terrible and made me sick. It's not necessary to leave a tip at a buffet since you get your own food and refills but they added one on my credit card slip which is illegal. Don't go unless you want to get sick and have your money stolen. read more

The restaurant is a bit dated, but it is clean and comfortable. No loud music or games, and no tv's are a plus especially when dining with other people. They had a nice variety of foods. I don't eat pork and they had at least 8 different check dishes and 3 or 4 beef dishes. The food tasted good and was hot and didn't appear to have been sitting around for a long time. This food is unsafe. Nothing we tried was at legal safe temperatures. In fact, much of our food was cold. When we asked the manager for a thermometer he laughed at us. OMG. These people stopped making food because it was close to closing, but didn't bother to tell anyone as they were coming in. We got there at 8:30pm, walked through and noticed about 1/4 of the buffet was empty. Assuming they would continue to stock as people were still coming in, we decided to eat. What a mistake! We ate a couple plates of what was available, but they didn't stock anything while we were there. Just before we left, a group of kids and an adult came in. They cleaned off what was left. We decided to complain about the situation and refused to pay full price and were told that since it was past closing they hadn't cooked anything else, but now they would, we would just have to wait until they cooked more. Sorry, already been there an hour waiting for them and we weren't going to sit there anymore. The lady argued with us until a couple guys walked in, heard my wife discussing this situation, looked over the lack of food and walked out. 2 ladies walked in to get to go, were handed their boxes and they walked around the buffet, walked back to the register, dropped their boxes and left. This restaurant will never see us again. The food we got to try was OK, but nothing special. Definitely not worth wasting time to stop at. Many items looked... well, really sad. I ruled out maybe half the buffet on that criterion alone. But, the things I did get were good. I didn't eat in, so I can't comment on the service, but I can say that the buffet-to-go is a great value at only $4/lb. A pound of food is more than you think! read more

That may have been the worst food I have ever had. They don't even care that their food tastes disgusting, the sauces are watery, the wontons were thick hard and rubbery, etc... The alleged ice cream was not even close to ice cream. It wasn't even frozen milk, who knows what's in it. Not one thing I tasted was good enough for a second bight. Ugh. read more

I have had the chance to dine at both King's and Hunan in the past weeks. King's is by far the better choice. Way better selection and the food has better flavor. Hunan was bland and everything tasted the same, but King's had variety in items and flavor. Hands down better food. Yes the decor was not good, but it was not unsanitary as other reviews would have you believe. I eat a lot of Chinese food and this was some of the better stuff I've had. Don't be swayed by the negative reviews. read more
