Amazing boom boom shrimp is to die for I love it a lot Recommend to eat at this place

We have dined at this location many times. The view of the Ohio River and the Louisville skyline is spectacular at this location. We had a party of 4 and we were greeted and seated promptly. The waitress arrived and started taking our drink orders and it became apparent that she was struggling to understand some very simple drink requests. She later confessed that she was new, and that's ok, but it appeared that she had absolutely zero knowledge of the menu. I have to question how much training she had received. The food came out fine and was prepared appropriately. So in summary, the visit overall was good. I would recommend improving the training of new staff members and confirming that they know the menu before having them work solo.

The food is great. It was way too cold to sit inside but they have a carry out that overlooks the river. Bonus: live music tonight on the patio. They young guy that waited on me was so friendly and helpful. This was a great decision and I'm glad I didn't settle for a chain restaurant! Portion size was great and so was the fish and coleslaw.

Our waiter was pleasant and very helpful with the menu. The catfish was delicious and hush puppies with butter, mouth watering. While talking, looking out at the Louisville Skyline and the Ohio River made for a calming atmosphere.

We drove up to the large restaurant, with a big patio on the river. There was free parking. I was thrilled to get a table facing the river behind walls of windows. The restaurant is between 2 Bridges, facing Louisville. Matt our waiter brought over menus with a basket of delicious hush puppies. We started with Rolled oysters that were wonderful oysters wrapped inside a big hush puppy with cocktail sauce, just wonderful! I ordered the broiled seafood platter with tilapia, shrimp, scallops, cod, cole slaw & onion rings & my husband the fish & chips basket. My husband's fries didn't do it, he enjoyed my onion rings. My dinner was enough for the two of us & everything was wonderful & very reasonably priced.

We were driving through and decided to give it a chance. The food was amazing! I had the citrus and pepper tilapia which was delicious. Others ordered wharf platter and fish po boy. Kids had grill cheese and chicken tenders. Those were the best dang tenders I've tasted. We sat outside and even with a light rain it was the best view! Our server, Whitney, was so sweet and had lots of menu suggestions-very helpful. She also checked on us frequently despite being busy. Awesome experience!

I wish I could give zero stars. SO many things throughout the night screamed at us to not go, or leave, but we ignored all of them. Yelp reviews? Yep, I looked. Still chose to go against my fellow yelpers. Funky smell when we walked in? Also, yes. But still powered through - we had a coupon!! (insert eye roll). Terrible service with dirty tables? Also, yes! Food didn't even look good when brought to the table. You guessed it - YES! WTH were we thinking?? We ordered fish, lobster tail, onion rings, soup (we never got this, probably for the better), frog legs - so many things, and all but the FREE hush puppies and the onion rings were absolutely TERRIBLE. When the lobster tail came out, it didn't even look good. And I'm not sure what they served with the lobster, but it was certainly not butter. It was almost orange in color and tasted AWFUL (I'm from Wisconsin, I LOVE all butter). Why we didn't just send it back and walk out then, still baffles me. The service wasn't even good! The place was about 1/3 full, we sat AT THE BAR when all the tables were dirty (bar was also sticky), and we STILL could not get a refill on beer or the water we ordered when we first sat down. How is this place still open?? Probably from fools like us. Such a shame since it's such a cool location.

This was the best experience and these two gentlemen made sure of it. The drinks Brian made for us were top notch and some of the best I've ever had. I had the Chamomile Fields Old Fashion and my husband had the Smoked Ok'd Fashion and the New York Sour. All of them outstanding! We felt at home, Brian and Teddy made the whole night special. There were many seats at the bar as well as couch and chair areas. They also have bathrooms down there. Service was outstanding. We had a bourbon flight and some cocktails. Our server even took group pics for us. He also provided menus so we could be prepared for dinner. When our table was ready, we reconciled our check and headed back upstairs. Upstairs, we had amazing service also. I ordered a cocktail that they had on the downstairs menu, and not the regular menu. It did not faze our server. He said he would figure it out- and he did! After a round of drinks, we stayed with appetizers: meatballs, fritto misto, piatto di frutti di mare and the crab cake. Everything was devoured. I loved the crab cake and the meatballs. The fried calamari was pretty standard and the cold seafood platter was fine- I had an oyster off of it. For dinner, I had the "Pappardelle" : short rib ragu alla bolognese, grano padano, and added two seared scallops. Wow. The pasta is homemade. It was phenomenal. My husband had the "Maiale" : 16oz pork chop, cauliflower puree, chard, stone fruit, bourbon glaze. It was a large portion and cooked perfectly. So good. Our friends had steaks and sides, so I was able to try the Mac and cheese- which did not get congealed! The corn was delicious and the mushrooms were a variety. Of course we had dessert. I asked for cannoli and they had it! They weee not soggy. I had three different favors. I love cannoli. These were really good. We also shared the millionaire's tart and some sort of apple crumble with ice cream. Yum. We had more round of drinks throughout including some fun ones - see the treasure chest video. I would recommend this place. They have a great menu. Drinks were awesome. Service topped everything. They went out of their way for us multiple times. Thanks so much. We can't wait to come back again.

"Doctor, doctor, give me the news I've got a bad case of…read morelovin' you" (Robert Palmer) Doc Crow's two locations (Indianapolis and Louisville) specialize in Southern cuisine, so you'll see pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, gumbo, pulled pork, brisket, ribs, okra, and jambalaya on the menu. Four of us had an excellent experience for our dinner in Louisville, and besides the food, a lot of that experience was due to our server, Julie. She was great, super friendly and professional, and expertly answered a ton of Bourbon-related questions from my Bourbon loving friend. My wife and I dove into the Southern theme and had a Pulled Pork Sandwich ($16), Southern Colada ($16), Fried Green Tomatoes ($10), and a Southern Gumbo ($10) for dinner. I ordered the Fried Gren Tomatoes to share with the table, and they were wonderful - "Five full moon green tomatoes fried in cornmeal and panko, topped with fresh chives and served with Doc's Remoulade". They were light as a feather, most definitely non-greasy and had a great crunch from the panko and cornmeal. My Southern Gumbo (A hearty stew filled with andouille sausage, chicken and vegetables in savory Cajun broth served over rice. Served with cornbread) was excellent. Great flavor, great spice, plenty of sausage and chicken, and excellent accompaniments in the rice and cornbread. And how could I not mention my Southern Colada, with Michter's US*1 Sour Mash, Pineapple Juice & Coconut. It was quite a bit stronger than any Colada I ever had, but I guess that can be expected when you use an 86-proof small batch Kentucky whiskey in your Colada. Of course, I loved it. This was our second visit to Doc Crow. We were there a few days ago as the first stop on our Louisville food tour and enjoyed a delicious bowl of shrimp and grits. The Doc sure treated us well. PRO TIP Be sure to check out the Doc's jaw dropping collection of bourbon bottles that seem to dominate the various rooms wherever you look.

The restaurant includes a long row of bar seating that extends to the other end of the restaurant, so there was no problem for me to find a seat on a busy day. I ordered the Mac n cheese and braised greens, and the Mac n cheese was really good and creamy. The braised greens were just okay, it wasn't the best greens I've had and it could use extra flavor. I don't know if this is a thing they do at Doc Crow's, but in my opinion the bartender excessively kept asking me what I wanted even while I was still looking at the menu. This definitely frustrated me since it was clear that I wasn't ready yet. I think she should have done a better job reading my cues to figure out when I am ready to order.

I ordered the shrimp and grits, and without exaggeration, they were the best I've ever had. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the balance of textures throughout the dish was incredible. Every bite had the perfect amount of crunch, flavor, and toppings. Nothing felt overwhelming or out of place. It was one of those meals where you find yourself slowing down just to enjoy every bite. Even the water deserves a mention. It was clean, crisp, and refreshing. If it came straight from the tap, I would have never known. It's a small detail, but it speaks to the overall dining experience when even something as simple as water stands out. The service was great, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It's easy to see why this restaurant has built such a strong reputation. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to accessibility. As a person with a disability, parking can make or break a dining experience. Unfortunately, there was no handicap parking available, and there were no nearby parking spots open when I arrived. I ultimately had to park in a hotel lot about a block away, which cost $25 for just two hours. Not only was the cost frustrating, but the additional distance was challenging given my mobility needs. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth trying, but I do hope accessibility becomes part of the conversation for future guests. For those without mobility concerns, this may not be an issue, but for disabled patrons, it's something important to consider before visiting.
