Good food. Terrible service. Understaffed. Dirty. Ceiling in main space is caving in and water is leaking out of... well everywhere.

Almond chicken

Yuck. I came for the almond chicken. The veggies weren't bad, but the meat was inedible. As you can see from the photos, it was mealy and crumbling. It had the oddest texture and was not recognizable as chicken. The almonds were not sliced or blanched, but whole and dumped on top as an afterthought. The fried rice was hard and dry and I was served ice water in a styrofoam to-go soup container. This had the distinction of being the worst meal I have ever been served in any restaurant, ever.

Crab ragoons

I HAVE to give King Wok five stars because there is nothing but bad ones on here! It is probably more of a 4 1/2 stars. King Wok is the go-to delivery for when there is just nothing in the house to cook. My boyfriend and I get it twice a month or more if we are too lazy to go to the grocery store. (Our grocery trips take almost two hours!) I'll be sad when we move after our lease is up and we can't get it delivered. Moving on to the important stuff you are reading this review for! The orange chicken is incomparable! Really, I compare any orange chicken I get some place else to King Wok and nobody measures up. BIG portions. REAL egg rolls. Their chow mein does NOT have noodles in it? The lo mein does. Look up what chow mein is and you'll understand why this is offsetting. That's the only negative thing but that would not keep me from continuing to be a consistent customer. Crab ragoons are more flat than the traditional ragoon shape, however they are still stuffed with lots of cream cheese! And of course fuggin' fatteningly delicious . (I am getting a craving for King Wok just writing this review!) I've only had some of the wings once. I had lemon pepper bone-in. Good flavor; they were not awful but you have to take into consideration you are getting wings from a Chinese take-out restaurant. Another reviewer mentioned the person answering the phone cannot speak English very well. Hel-lo! You aren't ordering from a Dominos! Fortunately, after you have it delivered once your phone number is automatically linked to your address so you don't have to repeat it every time. That's a plus for an address you have to constantly spell out for people. Another plus, they typically say it will take 40-45 minutes and it usually comes before that. Give King Wok a chance!!

Supposed to be orange chicken. I'm not really sure what exactly this artificial red and flavorless junk is, though. Yuck.

Everything was completely lacking in flavor. My husband mentioned that this all tasted like dog food and was essentially inedible in comparison to Taste of Asia, even when Taste of Asia is having a bad day and our chicken is overcooked. (which I've already griped about in another review) The orange chicken that I ordered didn't remotely resemble or taste like any orange chicken that I've ever had in my life. I uploaded a picture of it already. It was an artificial red color, and had little to no flavor at all. They gave us fried rice on all the meals, and the fried rice was under cooked and still completely hard. The Schezwan chicken had no flavor at all either. We each took one bite of it and left it in the back of the fridge completely untouched. The shrimp in my combo fried rice wasn't fully de-veined, so to top it all off I got to eat some fish poop because I was too lazy to clean it out. All in all, we probably took about ten bites of each meal, except for the Schezwan chicken, and dumped it all in the trash. Luckily I only ordered the lunch portions of everything, so I only spent about $16, but I want my $16 back and I want a lunch/dinner do-over.

Best egg foo young I've had in the area, followed by New China then Hunan Wok. Love the authenticity, like being in Chinatown in NYC.

With that being said, I like to believe I have a good palate for Chinese food. If you're coming here expecting authentic Chinese food, you won't necessarily be disappointed but just know that your expectations also may not be met. However, if you're looking for upscale Chinese American food then Teddy Wongs is certainly the place to go. I came here on two different occasions - one for a friend's birthday and another for a date. In short, both were great. Both times did require reservations or at least strongly implied so. I did see one couple that seemed to have gotten turned away on a busy night, so just keep that in mind. Additionally, parking may be a bit of an issue as other reviews have noted. However, if you plan accordingly and park at a nearby lot where it's past hours and marked, then it's not an issue. That's at least how it was for me in both instances. Now, when you walk in, the space is more of a dimly lit environment. Perfect for celebrations or date nights (at least from my two visits). With reservations, we were quickly seated. I will say that we were seated quite close to another table during the date so for smaller parties, you may get to know your neighbors. Both servers in the visits were phenomenal - knowledgeable with the menu, friendly with interaction, and quick overall. Could not ask for better! Having been here twice, especially for the birthday, I'd say that I got to try a good amount of their most popular items. In terms of the dumplings, what stood out to me were the pork and crab soup dumplings, spicey wok-fired har gow, and the truffle pork soup dumplings. An appetizer that I will say was a standout was the cucumber salad. It has a good amount of spice that is well complimented by the cold temperature of the dish with a satisfying crunch. Perfect palate cleanser, especially before the dishes that come ahead. For mains, the spicy cilantro cod was a standout with just the right amount of heat. Of course, you have to get the peking duck. It comes in half or whole options. During both occasions, in parties of four and two, we got the half and it was enough. Sure, it wasn't necessarily the quality that you'd get in Beijing but it's certainly up there for a Chinese American restaurant. For dessert, we got the chocolate dumplings. It's exactly what you would imagine... melty rich chocolate contained within a dumpling wrapper. If you've ever had Din Tai Fung then it's more or less that. Lastly, in terms of drinks, I did get the Lucky Emperor at one visit. It's sweet, crisp, and tart. Great drink that I believe complimented the meal! Overall, I do recommend Teddy Wongs. The food is good but the atmosphere, vibes, and service are what really make this a worthwhile visit.

Going with "average" lunch here today…read more While we've been here a number of times, it's been nearly a year since the last visit. Some things stood out as different today: - It was desolate on a Thursday at noon, just 2 couples eating - The food is different - see below The good? Service was fast. There were 4 male workers hanging out, ready to serve us. So that was nice. Also, the app and meal came out fast. Today, two of us shared: - Fresh Spring Roll with Shrimp - Pad Key Mao with Beef There were two shrimp rolls in the order. Both were very fat - stuffed full of lettuce and cabbage mostly. Each roll had 1/2 a shrimp in it. For long rolls, I'm accustomed to two 1/2 shrimps in them. Being so fat, they were harder to eat as they sort of fell apart from the bulk of green in it. As we split our meal, they served each of the two rolls on their own plates, each with a dish of peanut sauce. So that was nice. The Pad Key Mao (Drunken Noodle) was meh. I'd rate it a 2.5 on its own. The presentation was nice but there just wasn't much flavor and the beef wasn't thin strips of sirloin. I think we'll pause Spice for a bit.
