The warm greetings, the smiling faces, and the delicious food that's generously portioned at a great pirice? It's a gigantic win! I had the lengua king torta and the amount of tender beef tongue I had in my mouth was incredible - in PDX you might get a pittance of some meat but not here. Four extra tacos later - fish, al pastor, more lengua, and fajita rounded the flavor satisfaction and hunger. Each taco had it's own distinct flavor and texture. All for $20. Love this place.

    King Torta at night.

Excellent food at low prices. I love the lengua burrito, and the Al Pastor burrito is to die for! The place isn't fancy - it looks like an old Tastee Freeze - and does a huge take-out business.

Excellent service from cute friendly staff. Food is good portion and delicious. Prices are unbeatable from miles around. Shredded beef and asada chimichangas are packed with flavor and fresh ingredients! Can't wait to try the rest of their menu.

Stopped in for lunch with My wife after a friend suggestion to try this place for the tacos. We each ordered three tacos -- chicken, steak and carnitas for my wife and I subbed the chicken for the fish on my order. Service was very pleasant and the place was full with locals. But to be honest...the meats could have used more flavor. The tacos were not bad by any means...but just sort of bland. Not sure if was lack of seasoning or sauces but the meal for both of us was just meh. but finding great Mexican food in Portland is not an easy task.

Chimichanga was packed full of rice and chicken-definitely two meals

Isn't the fanciest place but the food is delicious. Order yourself and pickup your order at the counter. No outside seating but a lot of indoor seating. No alcoholic beverages but a large selection of sodas. A quiet restaurant even when full of customers-everyone was busy eating.

Authentic Mexican food! Tonight I was a first timer with my wife. We order regular chicken tacos, fajita tacos and some tacos so good! The service was nice and quick. The lady who worked the register told us what to order which was super helpful. We will define back because my wife and I love some authentic Mexican food.

The asada. Great price for the portion size.

"This review is only for the food and service" The Best prices around even with inflation in full effect. Most places has raised their prices but this place still keeps it affordable. Service was friendly and welcoming. The lady running the cash register has such a humble heart and so accommodating. The Asada burrito had meat from top to bottom. The meat was not dry but tender and juicy. Every bite had the tender meat. Also, the deep fried jalapeño was free?!?! The homemade chips were great The kids loved the side of rice. The sauces were fresh and tasty. The only gripe I have about the place is that the building needs some TLC.

Super reasonably priced. Got the carne asada tacos and they loaded them up. The avocado salsa they put on them is also super tasty.

I am just not sure how to rate Casa Lola…read more.. My wife called at 10 to ask if they were open yesterday, (Sunday) as they were scheduled to serve brunch. She was told they open at noon?? Yet their website states the following: Sunday: 10:00 AM-9:00 PM I do see they have 4 stars overall. I gave it 5 stars a year and a half ago. It definitely doesn't warrant 5 stars. The scheduled hours in the front window area is missing half of the numbers. The threshold is filthy. The knife in my roll-up had something crusted on it. And we were told very nicely, by our server Johana, that she hoped the Chef would come back, as he had left earlier. Whew...he came in after we were there about 10 minutes. We arrived at 4:00. And the last irritant...the music sound level. I wanted to ask Johana to turn it down, but just put it off. We were told at 10:00 Casa Lola becomes a night club...fine, but at 4:00 on a Sunday. Johana was terrific and the food was good. My Al Pastor Tacos were okay. Not great, but not bad. Black beans and rice accompanied all of the dishes and they also were good...not great. My wife, being a vegetarian, had the Enchilada's stuffed with carrots and potatoes. She loved the sauce, even though it had queso fresco on top, as she had requested none be served. Again, Service 5 stars, Food 4 stars, Misc. 0 stars It will be interesting to see if the restaurant is open one year from now.

They send security to poke their head in but not a janitor to clean up? The whole dance floor was stained with piss. And all the men with piss on their hands passing drinks... We all had an amazing time. It's so good that local celebrities like Eric Miller (Timbers' #15) was there dining while we were enjoying our food. SERVICE Zoe's amazing service is worth calling out, first highlight of our dinner. She was happy, funny, sprinkled zesty remarks that made us laugh, brought food fast, recommended great dishes, clarified all of our questions - Precisely what one expects from the warm Mexican server. It would be unfair to not mention the rest of the staff, it's just that Zoe was the unapologetically the best. FOOD Just the highlights from everything we had: - Chilaquiles Tarascos ($18.99) + Egg ($4): Our measuring stick for Mexican food authenticity, so we ignored how pricey they were for chilaquiles. These are chips in salsa topped with meat and egg. The way they make this dish sets the bar high for all other Mexican restaurants! - Machete con Carne ($18): Delicious giant taco with hand-made corn tortilla, cheese and up to 2 meats of your choice This is what I ordered based on Zoe's recommendation. I'm a 6'2" 215 lbs. man and I felt that I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing, BUT I DID! - Horchata: ($6.2): You'll taste the rice and the cinnamon, like the one Abüelitas in Mexico make. - House Made Flan ($6.99): You'll taste the egg in this flan. I can hear the chef yelling to the cooks in the kitchen when they're making this: "¡Con huevos!" - Café de Olla: ($6.20): AUTHENTIC MEXICAN Coffee! This is not a novelty you find on Instagram where lattes are poured on pastries, no. This is THE REAL DEAL. AMBIANCE We sat outside, the weather calls for it. Simple wooden picnic tables to enjoy the weather, not much needed. It was a difficult decision because inside the decor is BEAUTIFUL. - Outside: About 6 picnic tables sitting 6 people each. - Inside: About 6 or 7 tables for 2, and 3 booths for 6 and 4 tables for 4 people. - Parking: On the street and a small parking lot for about 5 vehicles. CLOSING THOUGHTS This business is doing everything right by representing Mexican culture. They're not adding American cheese just for the sake of catering to a certain demographic. They're hiring people who can speak Spanish from Mexico to provide a great service and experience. You can see the LOVE that the owner(s) are pouring into this business, if you see their taco trucks (I saw 2 parked in their parking lot) or need catering, do yourself a favor and try them. I don't know how long this place has been here since it is a block off the main drag. I just happened to find it thanks to Yelp when i was out here looking for some place new for lunch. This is not your typical sports bar! And to be candid I am not wild about sports bars.. all those macho character living vicariously though the exploits of professional athletes. And not a single play can go by without raucous cheers and yelling. I HATE loud gin mills! This place is quieter and brighter than most sports bars.
