The room has that warm lounge feel--low lights, comfortable seating, bottles glowing behind the bar, and just enough quiet to let conversations happen naturally. Jen was behind the bar and did exactly what a great bartender should do. Attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing conversation, and she keeps the room moving with an easy confidence. You can tell she knows the rhythm of the place. Within a short time I had two completely different conversations with people sitting nearby--one about life and money, the other about a dice game played with six dice and house rules for ones and fours. That's the kind of bar environment that happens when a place feels comfortable and real. Sometimes the best bars aren't about being loud or flashy.
