Drove past this restaurant quite a few times on King West, the patio always seemed to be hopping !!! Dropped in for Sunday Lunch, we were the first ones, place has been tastefully put together, cozy seating, curtains add character and warmth . Menu has lots of options especially some unique dishes. The cocktail menu also has a good selection. We ordered a Beer and Fire & Ice cocktail which was delicious. For lunch , we got a Moroccan Lamb burger which was moist, perfectly cooked and brought the flavours of the region, along with that was a Crispy chicken Burger which was also delicious, done right and very flavourful !! Gord and I recently had supper at King Rustic. Tristan was our server.  He was friend and helpful and took good care of us.  Thanks, Tristan! We sat on the patio on the Strachan Avenue side and a couple of police officers on horseback went by heading south. Dark & Stormy cocktails were on special for $8 so we ordered one.  I'd never had one before and it was good. Gord ordered Chicken Ala Vodka Parm Sliders.  He said they were good and he'd get them again. I ordered the Herb Fried Chicken Dinner ... I'd had it before and like it.  It was delicious, especially when dipped in the accompanying honey mustard dip.  I'm not a big fan of salads but this was a really good salad.  It's a big meal so I can't imagine ordering an extra piece of chicken (for $6) unless you were splitting the meal with someone. read more

Ordered UberEats from here and was quite impressed! My main complaint is that the food took a while to arrive; my UberEats bike driver said he was waiting at the door for almost 20 minutes. I got the salmon with beet and sweet potato kale salad. The salad was lightly dressed with oil from the grilled salmon fillet, as were the small cubes of sweet potato and beet. There was a generous amount of kale, but the cubes were small and sparse. The fillet, however, was quite large! There were two crispy pieces that were quite meaty and delicious. Next time I'm feeling for a simple but filling meal, I'll definitely order from King Rustic. Be prepared to wait though - delivery does take a while. read more

More of a 3.5! Food was good, but a bit higher price point for a burger and fries. Got the lamb burger which came with a side of cajun fries. The pile of fries was huge, it was more like main of fries with side of burger! But hey, not complaining cause the cajun fries were really good. As for the burger, the flavours were nice. The lamb patty wasn't that thick and not very juicy. But overall I still enjoyed the burger. I like the concept of this restaurant though- eating fresh and local. Stopped by this awesome joint for lunch. The bf and i had the meatball hero and the turkey burger respectively. Both were frikking delicous! As for the dranks, I had a glass of the chardonnay (delish) and a few of the Dutch Cosmo (dangerously delicious). The bf had Honey Jack on ice and the King Street West (which is super good). We stayed for an extra hour chilling and drinking. We came just when they opened and were greeted warmly by the bartender. The bartender was also the waitress for the entire lunch period! Thoughtful food and drinks! I tried King Rustic's fries, penne a la vodka and pierogis. All three dishes were delicious. The fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and cajun-seasoned. Way better than Five Guys was our table's consensus and the perfect nibble to go with cocktails. The pierogis were handmade and nicely-sized. The potato filling was tasty, garlicky and generous. The filling wasn't perfectly smooth either and so the chunky texture gave the pierogis a hearty feel. The outer pastry was pan-fried so it had a very nice crisp to it. The penne's sauce was rich, fragrant, garlicky and just the right amount of tangy-sweet from the fire-roasted tomatoes. The noodles were cooked perfectly too. I might have liked the bowl... that's how good this dish was! While I enjoyed my King Street West cocktail very much, a subtly sweet and very tasty drink, I was bummed that King Rustic had run out of so many of their fun, house-infused alcohols. I love this place so much. I've had the Manchego Burger and fries which were SO good! One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I'm currently obsessing over their mashed potatoes. I've justbeen ordering mashed potatoes on uber eats 3 days in a row from this place because of how good it is. EDIT: I need to update on how AMAZING this place is. I still order mashed potatoes from King Rustic and tonight they sent me a free dessert and a beautiful thank you note! Customer service goes above and beyond, and the kitchen crew is clearly incredible because Ive never been even close to unhappy out of the about 10 times I have ordered from them, and the establishment as a whole is just really great. Came here for lunch. The burgers looked amazing but I felt like getting some lighter. So I went for the fish wrap. It was good but I felt the fish was a little dry which took away from the entire meal. I got it with tomato soup which was good for the first few spoonfuls but a little too rich to finish. We tried the servers suggestions; lamb sliders, chicken meatballs and the burger. A good selection of beers and cocktails. My favourite was the lamb sliders they were dressed perfectly. We came here for dinner after reading such great reviews. Sadly , very disappointing. Ambiance: very quiet and lighting is very dark and lit with candles at the tables. There is a patio where it looks like they provide blankets for patrons, which seemed cozy. But overall lacking any kind of liveliness. Food: We ordered the baked Brie and pine nuts with honey. In my opinion, it wasn't melted long enough and instead of the cheese being gooey, you still had to cut it. Also was fairly bland We also ordered the Brussel sprouts- a little undercooked and lacked that crispiness and browned edges that make baked Brussel sprouts good We then ordered 2 burgers A Lamb burger and the manchego burger. Both were a little over cooked and dry, as if they had been precooked and the re- heated to order. I had enquired about onions on the manchego burger (as it wasn't stated and on menu) and was told there were none. Once received, there were many tiny diced red onions which I had to pick out. Kind Rustic's new location doesn't have the same charm as the original establishment but its not for a lack of trying. While the owner's have done a great job to maintain the look and feel of the restaurant, the industrial architecture of the new building just doesn't blend well with the distressed wood theme....for this reason I wouldn't plan on coming here on a first date or anything. That aside, I would come here if you are looking for a quick bite with a variety of food options. If you are in the mood for some gluttony or are watching your waistline, I'd say there is something for everyone here. Specifically, I really liked the baked brie with honey, cajun chicken, and manchego burger . The only downside with the food is that they do tend to over season with salt IMO. I definitely plan on ordering from here again but it'll likely be via uber eats. read more

The southern chicken was dry and tasteless, the seasoned fries, even though I requested well done fries they where mostly limp and mushy. I'm not sure I'd give this place a second look, the only thing they got right was my drink but it's hard to screw that up. My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to eat not far from where we were staying after a long day of walking and a bike tour throughout downtown Toronto. During our search on yelp we found the Rustic King. After a quick look at the menu and the libations offered, we began our short walk over. When you walk in you are greeted with long wood tables in the center of the dinning area with smaller tables to the sides for small groups of people. After we were sat, we decided to choose three items from the menu to eat. The lamb sliders, a cheese board and the Cajun chicken. The lamb sliders are absolutely amazing, I did not know until after I ate one and a half of them that each slider had different toping, I was so mad with myself that I missed out on chimichuri slider. However, the tzatziki slider and the goat cheese slider were some of the best lamb burgers I've had. Grilled to a light char with the center still juicy. The toping just added to the flavor. I kept looking at the board for more to appear. If you are in the area, do your taste buds a favor and stop in. read more

I can't put into words how absolutely delicious King Rustic has been, each and every visit. I live quite close so there has been many occasions where I have gone in for lunch and dinner both by myself and with a group of friends. The atmosphere-from the dim lights and candles, to the music and rustic feel, has been completely enjoyable. The staff is very accommodating and the owners even go out of their way to ensure your experience has been everything you expected and more. I've ordered a variety of different dishes but some of my favourites include the meatballs, perogies, steak, manchego burger, turkey club, butternut squash soup and cobb salad. Each dish has been packed with flavour with exquisite presentations. A lot of the times it's hard to find a place downtown that's affordable and also a bang for your money, but King Rustic has very tasty foods for relatively good prices and not to mention great portion sizes. I normally wouldn't eat anywhere that has NO reviews but our friends swore by it and convinced us to join them Really, from start to finish, it was a fabulous meal: the service was great; the food was very tasty and well presented; and the drinks were boozy. King Rustic is one of the newest spots on King West, and I was super duper excited to check it out after drooling over the yummy looking fusion menu. I came here on a Thursday evening and this place was dead. I think maybe one or two other small parties the entire time we were there came in and out. However, even though there were not many customers, service was painfully slow. From refilling water, to getting dishes out, slow slow slow all around. Super friendly, though. The staff even gave us a free, and EXTREMELY delicious tiramisu to share (and I am quite picky when it comes to tiramisu!) Food was decent, but not outstanding. The prices are a bit weird. Apps are very similar in price to mains which can be a bit of a deterrent when considering an app. I did steal some of the brie app and it was quite tasty! Melty, gooey goodness, paired with their AMAZING bread (I think it's a grilled focaccia? Whatever it is, their bread is out of this world.) Outside of the brie, bread, and tiramisu, other items around the table were good, but nothing to write home about. I was a little underwhelmed in the end, but definitely wasn't a bad experience! I think with some service & menu tweaks, King Rustic would be a place I'd definitely return to. read more

Went to the King Rustic on Valentine's (it's right now) and had to rush to post this review. The staff there is amazing, my one server Veronica was absolutely wonderful. I was recommended the kale salad with salmon, which I don't remember the name, and it was absolutely incredible. It hit ever taste bud. They also had live jazz music that really set a beautiful tone. We were given chicken that was cold and like jelly. The potatoes and brussel sprouts were clearly also reheated. We handed back the chicken only for it to be reheated again and the same piece of chicken given back to us. Out of two full plates of food only the chips were edible. As we were leaving a mouse ran under our table and up my jacket. We were still asked to pay a substantial amount of the bill at the end. The worst meal we have ever had in our life even before the mouse. Between the 7 of us we ordered the perogies, the lamb sliders, the lasagna, the Cajun chicken, herbed chicken and steak. Everyone was very pleased with both the service and the meal. The sangria was also delicious. The menu has a nice selection of options - something for everyone. I personally would highly recommend the lamb sliders they were great! One of my favourite old fashioneds in the city. I got three with dinner. I got the burger but found it pretty dry. The service was pretty slow for a Saturday especially considering it wasn't very crowded. They had a live band so that made up for it. I've been here a few times, partially because it's about a block from where I live. The food has been consistently good every time I've been there. The first time I ordered the lamb chops, and I cleaned my plate at a frankly uncivilized speed, apparently to the amazement of the chef when it came back. The brussel sprouts were great for some reason. Brussel sprouts never taste that good when I cook them. I call black magic. Since then I've had the cajun style grilled chicken, the penne alla vodka and the rustic cobb salad, and they were all pretty top notch. Another reviewer complained about portion size, but the portions always seemed pretty good to me. Everything I have had here is excellent. And the menu says all the produce are organic.

On my last visit I found them to be very lacklustre, uninspired and dry. They were also not super nice people.

The perfect date spot. Great service, amazing cocktails and an overall pleasant atmosphere. Has a very comforting vibe to it. Music is always on point. Jazz nights are my favorite (Thursday nights). Live sax and upright bass, I had a great time. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing escape from the everyday craziness that is Toronto. read more
