Been going to King kullen in Valley Stream Was treated rudely today. Asked the cashier for bags. She did not get them. I had to get them. New bags are terrible. It's almost impossible to open them. I have Parkinson's so it was particularly difficult. The last time I went the cashier doubled them for The cashier today helped the woman before me, but not me. I tried some of the premade food. Chicken Parm - very little marinara sauce and no mozzarella cheese at all and why is it cut up into little pieces? Lobster Rigatoni- No Lobster, Horrible Sauce, overcooked pasta, no flavor at all Roast Beef Sandwich- Decent amount of roast beef but the bread is so chewy it makes this sandwich not worth it. I used to shop at this grocery store many times in the past. Recently I had a very bad experience - it was discriminatory. It happened on Sunday November 17, 2024. I picked up my required items and used self service counter to bill and pay. When I completed weighing all items from my cart, the guy at the counter walked up and examined my bag and cart. This was strange at this location. I never experiences such a rude behavior in the past. That guy didn't verify other's cart and inspected my cart only and looking for any unchecked item in my cart. Being an Senior African American you grow accustomed to visiting establishments that have a clear unwelcoming vibe.. the older employees at this particular unit have a distinct displeasure and deposition when they are required to speak and interact with customers of color especially in the customer service desk and the deli the strong disdain on some of the employees faces are quite evident and I have had brief chats with other customers who have noticed the same demeanor... the older females assisting with the state lottery in particular have a real unkindness and attitude towards customers of color.. realizing that the neighborhood is becoming more diverse management that knows these biases exist amongst its in employees should be aware and pro-active read more

I shop here quite often for someone who lives 25 minutes away. I like the variety, never been crazy about the circular but the food is always fresh. Anywho on a recent visit the young lady at the self check out with medium length curly black hair had THE absolute worst customer service and horrible attitude my last visit when I asked for help. It seems I interrupted the conversation she was having on her phone with EarPods in her ear while at work. She became more frustrated when I pointed out that she didn't have to be rude or nasty to me that I just needed help. My two teens were with me and got all wide eyed when the young cashier came over and started hitting the screen aggressively. I had a word with the manager prior to leaving but was super disappointed. My moms shops there like I don't want anyone talking to her like that, and I don't want to have to exercise keeping my cool because someone's head is all pumped up with their first summer job. Let's keep the communities calm and pleasant. On another note two young men went to the BACK to find some King Oyster mushrooms I was looking for there and I thought that was incredible. Even made some awesome fried chicken with it. But yeah absolutely whipped out all those starts by being mistreated in a King Kullen Self Check out by a very nasty young woman who couldn't even figure out how to ring up oyster mushrooms herself and needed assistance but had the nerve to be upset when I asked for help. Isn't that what she was there for? The manager was understanding and empathetic I don't think I ever did that before. My children were so proud that I didn't take matters into my own hands, I'm like it's a supermarket it's here to serve the public why would I (wink wink). read more

I use to enjoy coming to this supermarket, the selection is huge and it's clean. However this last experience with a cashier made me so disgusted that i won't be coming back. I wish i would have gotten her name, she was Caucasian with blonde hair and looked very old in the face despite her having long glittery fake nails and lashes that were huge with glitter on them. I watched her customer service with the older Caucasian couple before me, she was extremely friendly with them, even let them take their time packing up their groceries which was a lot and never rushed them or asked them to pay. I had a few items and waited patiently. But i could feel she didn't mind holding up the line because she saw it was me waiting. Once the couple finally paid she smiled and told them to have a wonderful day. When it was my time to go, she did not speak to me at all even though i said hello. Yup completely ignored. Wouldn't even tell me the price of my total. When i asked for the price she was seemingly annoyed and then told me. I paid in cash and she gave me my change in a rush and didn't respond to my thank you. In 2022 to experience this type of customer service because of the color of my skin is distasteful. This is the second time this occurred at this supermarket so i wanted to ensure that i made it known. To management please be aware of who you hire and how it represents you as a company. I will not be returning and i wanted to ensure that my experience was shared to help others. I went to a local supermarket after this and the customer service was outstanding. KK is pretty pricey in comparison to some of the other supermarkets I frequent in Valley Stream. However, when it comes to customer service they can't be beat! Many times when I cannot locate an item, whichever member of staff I ask ALWAYS go searching the aisles with me if they don'tknow off-hand. Always! Apparently they don't carry curry (hehehe at CarryCurry) or many other "exotic" spices, we're still to locate some. They're open round the clock except for a few hours Sunday into Monday when they take a break. Their weekly coupon BOOK is filled with great deals and if you didn't know that an item is on sale, the cashier always let's you know and gives you the option to go get more of the item, to secure the sale price. Wow! Such charming staff here. Totally gives me that village (community) feel I so enjoy. I like KK, one other K and that would have been something else eh! **mouth wide open**. The End. read more

Valley Stream store is amazing. Management is spectacular. Deli could use a little more custom service orientation when there's a long line they could take notice. Other than that everything in this store is clean food is always fresh. The Hewlett store is a different story I avoid it. It's dirty the people in the deli are gross. And most cashiers are not nice either. read more

When I'm not around Whole Foods I usually come here. It is a little more expensive then a key food or stop and shop, but they always have what you looking for and always fresh. The Seafood department is my favorite, they always have what I need and again I must say very fresh. Believe it or not they have really good sales you just have to look at the circular. I always went to the self pay kiosk so I never had an experience with an actual person in the store, but everyone seems friendly and helpful. I have been shopping at this location every week for a long time. Cashiers are always nice, but today I came across a young cashier named Chris.(made it a point to look at his name tag). As usual I forgot my reusable bags in the car so I had to bag myself. Chris was aware I was having trouble "bagging " and said please don't worry, I will help you. It might not seem like a big deal to some, but my order was a large one but it was just the way he approached it and spoke to me. He was extremely kind. I have been going to King Kullen since they opened up in Valley Stream. Recently I had began using a motorized cart. The employees were extremly helpful, caring and pleasant. Putting my groceries in the car and even wiping snow off my windows. It is such a pleasure to be able to shop for myself as opposed to just making a list. As a senior I have lost a lot but the pleasure of cooking and shopping for myself is the optimum in maintaining my independence. read more

I recently finished shopping and went to put my groceries into my trunk and my keys accidently fell into the trunk and were locked in.... I went inside and spoke to the customer service desk - mind you this was during the pandemic the employees were so nice - they actually tried to get someone to come out to the car and tried to get inside the car to release the trunk - when that didn't work one of the employees offered to take their break and drive me home so I could get spare keys.... they were truly a blessing that day.... Excellent service and good, fresh produce, bakery staff is so kind but the caring for customers in the store is so rare....GOOD JOB - I wish I could call the CEO of the company and let them know what a great job their people are doing. read more

King Kullen is pretty pricey, but at least I can say I end up finding exactly what I am looking for when I am in town visiting family. This location can be pretty crowded which you can expect anywhere in NY. Thanksgiving week was a bit crazy. I love how big of a selection they have for Entenmann's I was looking for a specific lemon coconut icing cake by this brand and found plenty without a problem. I wish VA had King Kullen stores. When I went this go round the lines were long and the store was having issues with their registers scanning produce. However, that didn't stop the cashier I went to from being friendly and pleasant compared to some of the workers. She tried to move the line swiftly while being friendly. I have been shopping at King Mullen for decades. I love the cleanliness of the store. Produce is always beautiful. Circular sales are always in stock. I also had the experience of the rude blond cashier with long nails. Exact same thing. Gushing over the customer ahead of me and being downright rude to me. It's pricey but clean and organized. They didn't have a product I was looking for and asked the front desk. They said they didn't carry it but would try to order it. A week later it was on the shelves. This is the newest King Kullen in the area and the largest. They offer a lot of variety and the premises is clean and well kept. I would say it is one of the pricier supermarkets in the area. In general, it's cheaper than foodtown but more expensive than Stop and Shop. They have an automated deli service if you want to get your deli meats and cheeses that way. They have a seafood section that usually looks pretty barren and devoid of the flavors of the sea (I guess no one is particularly fond of seafood around there). Their other meat section is usually bountiful and overflowing with your normal beef, chicken, and pork. They have a coinstar machine and lottery ticket machines. The only crappy thing is that they are not usually staffed with enough people for the checkout lines and that they are REALLY strict with selling their alcoholic beverages (beer or wine); one time they were trying to ID my entire shopping party (we are all in our mid to late 20s). PAPERS PLEASE! That's stupid. Don't buy your beverages here unless you like being hassled by their nazi-like management. I'd say this is the closest thing to their flagship store within a 10 mile radius. read more

I love that this is a clean nice supermarket that is opened 24 hrs. In the early morning hours you see the staff restocking shelves/produce making sure the place is presentable. Went to use the rest room. It was BEYOND disgusting. Wet floor, toilet seat wet with paper stuck to it and...wait for it...the only roll of toilet paper there was wet with who knows what! Came out and told the self check supervisor. Said she'd get it taken care of. I finished my grocery shopping and even put it all in my car. Came back in to try again 30 minutes later. Still the same. GROSS. went to the Courtesy Desk. She put an out of order sign on the door. Seriously? I'm a huge fan of this supermarket, it's conveniently located right next to my gym and my job. There is always plenty of parking and my favorited thing is shopper's card to get their discount price. They have the best seafood salad at the fresh fish area and the bread is always fresh. Their fruit and veggies section is pretty good too. The prices are decent, the meats are a bit pricey but you can find some deals. Also it's very clean. read more

Store is nice, but number of available selections could improve. Also, while I understand the safety precautions surrounding Covid, I have a problem with cashiers wearing gloves and handling all of your food, but will not touch your home bags or even attempt to assist you in packing your groceries. They are allowed to handle your food, but not your bags? The cashier stood there and waited for me to finish and looked annoyed as if I was holding her up. I have been to other KK stores, and other supermarkets, during the pandemic and this has not been the case. I worked in the supermarket business many years ago, starting as a cashier and moving up to a full charge office bookkeeper for one of the major chains, and I found the customer service experience to be nonexistent in this store. The cashier in my case was simply lazy. Or, if she has such a concern about working in such an environment, perhaps she should not work at all. And, to add insult to injury, she wasn't very friendly. I went to this supermarket as I always with my son with autism who is obsessed with playing cards he wanted to get all of them and when he couldn't get all we went out with them to the car, I told security to come with me so I can give him the extra ones back and take the ones I purchased. The manager and security were both outside with us. I explained the disability and was told not to come back because of his disabilty and the safety of the other shoppers. He also stated he didn't want to call the police I told him to go ahead I'm his mother, I'm with him, and the police understand. I paid for everything we had and also showed my receipts to the manger because he asked me if I paid for the groceries which really hurt as well. I do not teach my son that it's ok to take anything I can't afford. I felt so hurt and offended that the manager would think I would come to a supermarket to steal and clearly stated don't come back. Also, I have to teach my son how to behave in society by taking him shopping, it's called normalization. I refuse to lock him up in the house and throw away the key like some people want. read more

King Kullen is NOT the closest to my home (Key Food closer) or the least expensive (Food World). BUT, it is convenient, clean, well-stocked and they go out of their way to help the customer out, My biggest reason for shopping there? They have some great specials and coupons AND they have a bunch of (4) brand-new electric handicapped carts! A few weeks ago they were down to 1 or 2 working carts which made it tough for me to shop! I love supermarkets. I think they're fantastic. I love going inside them, having a wonderful shopping experience and raving about it afterwards. This is probably the only bad experience I've ever had in my life in regards to supermarkets. You see, it's very difficult for me to give an establishment more than a star.... IF YOU WON'T LET CUSTOMERS IN! One day, I had this urge to get some shopping done at 12:30am. I drove around and lo and behold, King Kullen! And there's a huge bright sign that says 24 hours in the front! All excited, I frantically skipped two lanes on the road and swerved right into the parking lot. I ran out of the car and ran to the door only to find it locked. All confused, I looked inside the supermarket only to see a rather behemoth African-American woman look at me and lip "We closed". Confused, I took four steps back and looked up at the 24 hour sign and back at the woman who kept shaking her hand facing her neck lipping "nuh uh we closed". Mr. Kullen- I'm assuming you have no idea how a clock works. But there are twenty four hours in a day. If you put up a sign advertising that you're open twenty four hours, then there are no reasons why you even need a lock on your doors. Those doors should be open at all times. read more
