I came on a Thursday afternoon there were a few others coming and going as it was a super hot day. The service was quick and there's umbrella tables for you to enjoy your ice cream. I ordered a small pistachio caramel twist, two different and interesting flavors of soft serve that I haven't had before. I'm amazed at how they have such a perfect consistency that keeps the swirl to go up to high. I would absolutely stop here again as they have weekly rotating flavors. You know I went back and forth in deciding to write this. I'm trying not to be so negative. I've passed by King Kone numerous times when I am here on business. With this awesome heat wave hitting i thought yesterday was the perfect time to check them out. Soft serve ice cream reminded me of the days when Mr. Softy would come around And holy cow the amount of ice cream they pile on is insane. I'm truly glad there were pictograms taped to the window because I would have had no idea that a small was so huge. And they have sprinkles! Yay! Long line, but the employees were so efficient. And friendly. So Mark, "Why only one star, then?" I'm sure you're thinking. Well let me tell you: Credit Card Surcharge. Processing fees for credit cards are just part of doing business. I'm not paying your fees. And I'm certainly not paying a $.40 surcharge on a $5.95 cone. That's a 6.7% fee. First of all companies are not allowed to charge more than their processing fees. If you're paying 7% you're getting robbed. But you're not going to rob me in return. Secondly, credit card surcharges aren't allowed in debit cards. Ever. I informed the girl I was using a debit card. She said it didn't matter. If you don't want to pay your fees then become a cash only business. It's that simple. There are a myriad of reasons businesses choose to accept credit cards. I'm sure you can Google them. But one fact is accepting credit cards increases business which brings in more revenue. This in of itself means more profits. And the extra sales far outweighs the cost of transaction fees. So sadly you get a 1 and a chargeback because I am that petty. I will contact my bank, let them know you charged me a credit card fee on my debit card, and dispute the charges. And the more chargebacks you have the higher your fee will be. One of my friends recommended this place when I mentioned we were visiting NH & ME. It wasn't exactly on the way to anything but we had fun incorporating it into our route. We both tried the orange mango flavor of the day. I added crunch which was great. The hot taco reminded me of something we might have for a weeknight dinner growing up. My wife and i drove to King Kone on Friday July 5th, 2024 after visiting the Outlet Mall in Dunham, NH. I ordered a sundae with chocolate Ice Cream, hot fudge and nuts and whipped cream and my wife had coffee ice cream .Let me tell you order the small or less and the amount of ice cream given is huge!! You order from a window off a 2 lane highway and the staff is very hospitable, pricing is very reasonable. Seating is limited and thee is parking. The staff is mostly college and HS aged students working the summer months. There are quite a few flavors to choose from and the location was very busy. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area and we will return if we are visiting family in the area in the future. read more

I still would choose King Kone over Hayward's any day (although Hayward's is still great)! A "kiddie" size is a reasonable size for any person to enjoy....a "small" is a large.....a "medium" is huge....and a "large" is so ridiculously gigantic that it cannot fit through the window. People order large cones as a joke or a dare; no reasonable person would order a large cone regularly. They only serve soft serve ice cream, and it's absolutely delicious. They always have vanilla, chocolate, and twist; they have four or so other flavors that change week by week. Sometimes, they have really unique flavors! Even if your fave isn't there, you will still end up going lol. Hands down PB & Chocolate Jimmies is the best in my book, don't bother getting the pb/chocolate twist as the chocolate will overpower the light pb ice cream flavor and get lost, which is utterly saddening to be honest. They only take cash, so hit the atm up or scrounge up that pocket change in the cupholders. Extremely cost effective, affordable and as another reviewer has said "Best soft serve in the wold" lol.
