We have eaten here several times and each time it got worse. The last time we both got sick, my husband much worse than me......never again!! Spend your money elsewhere in Gallup read more

Man this food always disappoints me. It seems they take their food right of the freezer and throw it in the fryer. Super soggy!!! Anything that is breaded. The rice is a 2 out of 10. I ordered 3 items. Beef fried rice - very plain rice no additional ingredients very greasy. The breaded sweet n sour pork was very bad. Same with the orange chicken. I think they need a new chef or get their ingredients from a different vendor. Mikasa 2 in window rock is a lot better. California Chinese is also a little bit better. read more

While traveling for business in Gallup I had a craving for Chinese and my search of Yelp found this restaurant. Tired after a long week I ordered take out to return to my hotel to eat and was a bit disappointed. The food was okay but I had to wait 30 minutes for my order. read more

Came here today and wished we went to Wendy's instead, stuff was cold and soggy like pot stickers and egg roll plus both had unpleasant fish flavor, rice was dry, tarter sauce for fish had cream cheese flavor and texture which was gross, Chinese noodles were spaghetti noodles, shrimp and chicken was rubbery and cold, ribs were huge but 85% bone and uncooked fat....only the egg drop soup and fried wontons were worth going back to....it was worse than the Golden Corral here, disappointed and do not recommend the buffet..... read more

This place is amazing. Ordering from the menu is by far the best option, and Togo is great too. The staff has never been anything but super nice and very sweet. Ordering Togo they have noticed one of my entrees did not look good so they sent it back and wouldn't let me leave until the food looked good. read more

This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Ever. Ordered take out and thought the point of that would be for the staff to make my food fresh. Wrong. It was all shit from the buffet put into the styrofoam boxes. I tasted the hot and sour soup and it was so sour it tasted like rot. The fried rice was bland with nothing in it. My boyfriend says, "The sesame chicken sort of smelled like ass." It's uncouth to curse in reviews, but damnit, this was just so disgusting. The green beans were also frozen. Our dishes were sweet, soggy and simply a shame to anyone who has an inkling of Chinese ancestry. What a low-ball slice of dump. Super sad, too, since there's a lack of Asian restaurants, period, in town. Sigh. Avoid at all costs. Save your money. Run to the hills. You'll have more luck plucking a decent fried wonton from an animal's behind. Most of our take out lunch is finding a new home in the trash on the curb. read more

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars or even minus 10 stars I would. I would like to start out by saying that I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I called to place a take out order and they quoted 30 minutes. We figured with the strip tempura roll that it would take about 25 minutes because we have ate at Zen before. Needless to say we waited for 50 minutes and at this point we are hungry so we ask for an egg roll to hold us over. The owner Lisa then comes out and practically starts shouting at us for asking for such a thing, then she walks away laughing. At this point we are fuming because I have never encountered such a rude owner or have been spoken to in such a degrading manner. Finally, we get our shrimp tempura roll 60 minutes later and we ask to see her again, she refused to speak with us. I then call back to speak to the owner to explain that we are repeat customers and were looking forward to a steak dinner for our anniversary. I am very calm at this point and explain that my organization spends a lot of money with Zen and that you never know what business will walk through the door. During this time he literally starts screaming at me and then hung up on me. The only thing that they continued to repeat is that they quoted us 30 minutes or more, this was not the case they stated 30 minutes. Apparently 30 minutes in their eyes mean 60 minutes and that is standard for them. Again, I have never been treated so poorly in my entire life. I highly encourage everyone to spread the word about how horrifying these owners treat people they should not be allowed to be in business. I plan on spreading the word ASAP for their behavior is degrading and unacceptable. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would. The is either tasteless or awful. Fish sits in water. Lettuce is brown. It was $8.99 for buffet. I should have ordered from the menu. If you want good tasting food don't go here. We were intending on going to the Zeno steak and sushi but apparently it's closed on Sunday. We should have kept going. read more

I almost never leave Yelp reviews because I agree with the consensus of the previous reviews. In this case, I have to leave a review because I couldn't agree more. My Fat Tire beer was O L D, I can still taste the nasty spring rolls an hour later, and I'm trying not to throw the whole mess up. Nothing was hot, the egg drop soup tasted like bad water, the peppers were slimy, the sweet and sour sauce was congealed - the egg rolls and white rice were the only edible things. On top of this, an old bowl of sweet and sour sauce was left under my table, and the Exit sign was beeping the whole "meal." The server didn't do much of anything about either one. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Place I used to enjoy growing up as a kid. Now the service and food has totally gone down hill!!!

I am picky about Chinese food (especially when it comes to Hot and Sour soup) but this place was a pleasant surprise. For the price of the buffet ($18 for 2 people) I thought it was more than fair and the food was good. Let me back track, where I came from Chinese buffets ranged from $12 to $25 a person so the $8.50 price tag was a win in my book) I loved the hot and sour soup with extra crunches and even thought the egg drop soup was good too. The fried rice could use some veggies mixed in but that had a good flavor as well. Order off the menu if you want something made fresh and not in the buffet, but overall my family had a great experience and left full and happy. read more

Today ! In Gallup,Hungry .So, ate at King Dragon. Get Variety of food,Egg drop Soup ,Delicious! waitress kind.

The salad bar was good and reason for 1 star. Everything else was just not good. Flavorless, not heated well and poor quality food. I would look elsewhere. read more

bad service 'would not recommend .. ordered my food; came back in 20 mins, was told order was not submitted!! imagine my dismay!! waited another 20 mins!.. Not acceptable .. next time I will wait 30 mins in line down the road at Panda Express! #ilovechinesefood read more

Decided to give them another chance with the buffet. This was the last time I go there. Went up to get my plate but noticed that there was no general chow chicken and fried chicken wings. Spaces were empty. I asked a few employees about the missing items and most didn't know but one did say that they were making more and should be out in 10 minutes. I decided to wait until items were ready so rest of food wouldn't get cold. 10 minutes turned into 20 then 20 into 30. I complained to manager and all she said she was, "I'm sorry, we had all day yesterday". Don't know how that was suppose to explain the problem. Another waitress looked upset and said she didn't know "what was going on in the kitchen". Decided to leave even though they tried to charge me for the tea which I never touched. Avoid this place if you can. Used to be a good place in the past but just a big disappointment today. read more

This place was way over priced for what they offered. Came at 700 PM and the food looked like it had been on the buffet all day.

Love this place! Everytime I go back to visit my family I eat here like 5-10 times. The buffet has great choices and the food is always fresh. Oh, and don't forget about the fabulous sushi! Yummy read more

My husband and I went in and placed an order to go. The Terriyaki Chicken does not have Terriyaki sauce. It looked like Chicken Chop Suey full of veggies and no sauce at all. I called to let them know they gave me the wrong order and the person who answered told me she would get the manager. She held the phone while she explained to the manager and I heard I man yell that it was not there fault. Then the manager got on the phone and explained to me that the Terriyaki Chicken and Chicken Chop Suey are very similar. This is far from true. She said that if you want Terriyaki Chicken that you have to specify that and they will make it for you, I figured that if the menu item is Terriyaki Sizzling Chicken that I would not have to tell them how to make it. The egg drop soup had chicken and vegetables which is not how we have seen it prepared before. The egg rolls had to be rolled in paper towels to get the grease off. They were stuffed with nothing but cabbage. The crispy noodles were all crushed and greasy. I would never go there again. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy! I wish I could give them zero stars. read more

I ate here over the weekend with my family and it was so disappointing. The chow mein was nothing more than watery spaghetti noodles, the fried rice was plain white rice with soy sauce, no veggies, no eggs. The general tso chicken was soggy and tasted like warm ketchup. It was such a disappointment to waste our hard earned money on bad food. read more

Don't order from the menu either...I got mushy mushrooms that tasted vinegary...it was not fresh. On the upside the service and ambiance were awesome! I have heard the shrimp is good. read more

My family and I love eating here. The servers are nice, management are connected with their customers on a personal level. I come here for majority of our celebration to eat and be with people I love. read more

This place use to be nice a few years ago. We had lunch here this past Saturday. There were insects in their melons and the food did not taste good. Our server came once, did not introduce herself and the hostess was the one who served us our drinks. Another patron stated she had ants in her rice... Never again will we eat here again. read more

Food was old on the buffet--like crusted over from lunch!! They stop refilling buffet an hour before close--failed to tell us this when we arrived! Service was as bad as food! Definitely will not be visiting again! read more

I love this restaurant. I always order the buffet because I adore the steamed buns and the stuffed steamed buns(they change the flavor every now and then) and the string beans. Everything else is mediocre, not bad but not amazing either. The decor is nice and I like it. I've always had good experience with the customer service, my drinks are always full and wait staff always check up on us. The hot tea isn't as grand as I hope but they do have a variety of flavors. Plenty of parking space as well read more

Wow, is this food bad. It doesn't help that it's also cold. When I eat a piece of chicken and it doesn't taste right, I get nervous. If I have issues later tonight, I'll know the source. Yes, it's that bad. read more

This place is quantity over quality. I would have gladly traded half the portion for better food. The lemon chicken was served in a bath of congeeled yellow snots - DISGUSTING! The chow mein was aight for eight bucks, but the chicken, like most Chinese paces has you wondering if it's really chicken or something else. Rats? Pigeons? Cats? Who knows. This place really went downhill after the official owner died. read more

I've always liked the Chinese food, peach roll things, and iced tea here. Customer service is okay, but one of the Asian ladies can be rude. Sometimes the food takes forever to get to the table...but I just go for the food and iced tea... read more

Very authentic Chinese, inexpensive and selections plentiful, a pleasant surprise in a small town enroute from Santa Monica to Chicago on Route 66. Quality is comparable to California Bay Area. People are friendly too. Décor inside and outside are well done. Highly recommended for anyone passing by, and for that matter, locals too! Review pertains to buffet only. read more

Came for the buffet, it was only 9.50 for an adult which is a fantastic price for an all you can eat! But you get what you pay for. My mom took a look at the buffet and handed me her plate, and said she was ordering off the menu. I gave the buffet a shot. Wish I didn't. The sweet and sour pork was cold in the middle, hot on the outside, the sauces were bland and flavorless, it was just a bust. The only thing I actually enjoyed was the fried fish and that's not even Chinese. My mom ordered chicken and broccoli off the menu, and it was served on an extra large plate and she received just that. Chicken, broccoli and a bland sauce and an equally extra large plate of white rice with no type of sauce served with it. We have a "server" but she didn't come back to refill drinks, or even see if we were sticking with the buffet when my mom specifically said she wanted to just check it out first, and I had to walk over by their little server stand to get her attention so my mom could order. I would skip this place. If you're in the mood for mediocre Chinese, go down the street to Panda Express, you'll be less disappointed. read more

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews on yelp for this business. We always through Gallup on our way back home to AZ, and tend to lean towards eating at King Dragon. The owner is friendly, I believe she's the daughter of the original owner from what I've been told. Food isn't always fresh on the buffet. But it's a buffet!!! And the workers are always quick to refill when you ask them too. The menu is good!!! I recommend trying the buffet first, if you're not a fan, you def can't go wrong with the menu. read more

Consistently bad customer service. For reasons I cannot think of, the hostess there is still employed. Stopped by there about a year ago with my girlfriend and remembered the experience then as being a bad one due to the awful hostess. A year later as I'm passing through town, a friend invites me over for dinner. To my surprise and great misfortune, the awful wretch is still there as ungrateful, unappreciative, and disrespectful as ever! My friend and I walked out as soon as we were finally seated and he experienced for himself what I went through the year before. People, take your hard earned money and time elsewhere where it may be appreciated. Substandard dining, values, and hostess at this establishment. read more

Terrible service and disgusting food. The service is even bad when they are not busy. They get your orders wrong and the buffet is nothing but old fish, rock hard pork and bland soup. If you order from the menu they either bring you the wrong order or your chicken is raw. I ordered from the menu and i ended up waiting 20 mins...only to find out the server ordered the wrong dish. I told them I didn't want it n reported it to their "manager" only to be asked if I wanted the correct dish to-go and that I will have to payfor my drink before I left. I'll drive out of town 2hrs away for Chinese food before i am ever treated like that again. Stay far from this place. read more

I am Chinese and have to travel to work at many Indian Health Services (IHS) facilities in USA. When I work at Chinle (AZ), I go to King Dragon (yes, there is a King Dragon restaurant there). When I work at Fort Defiance, I go to King Dragon in Gallup. Since I am Chinese, I know most authentic Chinese foods can be found in big cities Chinatown (like San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc), but NOT in small cities (like Gallup, Chinle, etc.), and we have to pay more for the quality. I have been at Anchorare (AK), or Billings (MT), the Chinese foods there are more expensive and the food quality are average too. Some other small USA cities (like Lame Deer, MT), don't even have any Chinese restaurant. We need to look at things in life in relative terms. The food at King Dragon is relatively good for its price. read more
