King Chef provides a pretty average experience for mall Chinese food. I ordered fried rice with bourbon chicken and orange chicken. The bourbon chicken was delicious and had plenty of sauce. While the orange chicken was fine, it definitely could have been more crispy. The rice was alright and had a sparse amount of vegetables. The service here was pretty quick and the employee was very nice. King Chef has ample seating to grab a quick bite during a busy mall day. read more

It's a decent restaurant with fast service. Has a neat and clean kitchen with good and clean tables. One good part is it didn't feel like the kitchen is connected because it didn't smell at all. This is one of the few places that truly deserves to get a 5 star review but I don't want it to get a generic 1 or 5 star average. Been coming here for years growing up in the area. It is located in a mall where stores have and come and go very time especially during the pandemic, but this local shop has always been there. It hasn't been my favorite Chinese restaurant, but they've been affordable and reliable for the typical mall stroll. And I haven't been disappointed. I never tried them so I ordered a few different things just in case I didn't like something. So overall, it has everything you can ask for from a mall restaurant. If you ever visit Woodbridge Mall, you'll know that it does not have a food court. All eateries are scattered throughout the mall. It's lunch and I saw King Chef's ad at the center of the mall. My and I decided to give them a try. They are located on the 2nd floor at the corner of Macy's Dept store. We walked in and was greeted by one of the staff members. I decided to get the lunch special of orange chicken with brown rice. Yes, they have brown rice!!! The combo comes with a medium drink for $8 so it's reasonably priced for mall fast food. The portion size is good too. Although it's a takeout fast food, there's several tables at the fron and more tables in the back area if you want to eat there. My favorite dish I tried here was the general tso tofu. I love the taste, texture and aroma of this dish. It's a bit spicy just like the general tso chicken but oh so yummy! I used to come here often when I worked in the mall and recently ate hear today after about 4 years. I would always get their sushi because it was super cheap and good. This time I got the generals tso tofu with white rice and it was only $6. Their food always comes with a lot for a cheap price and I love it every time. It comes with a lot of sauce too which I love because most places where you get tofu that comes with sauce, it usually soaks up into the tofu. But they add so much so you ca enjoy it on your rice too which is super tasty. Woodbridge mall doesn't really offer a lot a good food besides fast food so I would 100% recommend this place. They do have a minimum on care of $8 so bring cash if you aren't spending a lot of money here. read more

While I am new to Yelp, I am not new to this restaurant and have been coming here for a number of years, including when a different Chinese store existed here. I decided to do a detailed review of this store because I do frequently visit. On 11/29/15, my boyfriend and I ordered chicken teriyaki and sesame chicken, respectively. Both came with a side of white rice. Food: -The food itself was cooked or served relatively fast. We received our order within minutes. The sesame chicken was cook great. It had the right amount of seasoning & sauce to chicken ratio. The chicken teriyaki was not great. While the sauce for the chicken teriyaki was good, parts of the chicken were too chewy or had some bones or tendons left in the chicken. While chicken may be fresh, it is not cut well enough to avoid this problems. The rice served on the side is too much, the store would save money and be better off with a scoop less of rice. Seating & Overall Layout -As soon as you walk in, you are able to see a giant menu on the wall. There is more than enough seating and has some child seats in the back. Even when it's crowded it seems spacious, which is a plus for me. Price -The food, depending on what you order, ranges from $5-$8 dollars per plate. Drinks were about $1.50-$2. Service -The service was quick, the people who work there weren't mean but weren't the most friendly either. It was okay. They do accommodate small changes or request in your food. This was also a plus. Overall: -At the end of the day, it's your average Chinese store at the mall. If you want quick food that will fill you up and at a decent price, this is it. I rarely give bad reviews but this place has neglected any attempt to provide reasonable quality food to their customers. As someone who grew up in NJ and been to lots of malls, this place has to be the worst restaurant to offer Eel over rice, tempura, chicken and shrimp teriyaki. The eel was so bad it requires a knife to cut through! If you ever had eel over rice, you would know it can be scooped with a spoon or fork so you can bite the fish and rice all together. Don't offer eel if you don't even try to learn how to cook it! The tempura uses the same dough as orange chicken, it's not the same texture or taste as traditional tempura! The dumplings were also horrible as I can't taste any meat but ginger. Ok, maybe the restaurant didn't focus on this dish since they sell chicken teriyaki? But that turned out to be horrible too! The rice was a mix of soft and extremely hard grains. A sign that the restaurant mixed leftover rice with new! The chicken and shrimp were so dry and hard to bite while the whole dish being too salty. I honestly don't know what to say about a such easy to make chicken stirfry dish. The restaurant should at least try to offer decent quality food to it's customers! Never coming back here again and urge others to avoid this place at all costs! read more

The food was pretty bad, and the woman taking the order was very rude. We got 2 plates one was orange chicken with lo mein... the flavors are not there. And second was the chicken and broccoli with fried rice. The rice was oily and the chicken was probably under cooked. The price was about 8 dollars per plate which is the going price for a plate of chinese food at a mall here in new jersey. The place was not very clean looking, looks like a shack that i would find in the hood. But this is the only chinese store i believe in this mall. For some reason woodbridge mall does not have a food court only a few food chains scattered around the mall. I will not eat here again. read more

The next time anyone visit Woodbridge Mall I don't recommend going to King Chef Chinese Restaurant on the top level near Macy's. This afternoon my husband and I went to order two dinners to go and we received horrible customer service .The skinny Chinese lady that served us was so nasty and rude to us because she assumed we were dining in. When we repeated it was a to go order she was annoyed and then with a nasty attitude put our food in the to go containers. We ordered tofu, fried rice and vegetables. The counter already had a little bit left for one serving but she split the last of that between the two of us. When I addressed it to her she said no you have vegetables. I said I will just order some more on the side and even when I paid for the second order of vegetables she was light handed then. I had to ask for more carrots. No thank you for coming or thank you was said from her. If you want to keep your customers coming back you need to learn how to be polite and respectful. In my opinion leaving one star was too much but I didn't have that option of leaving any. I've gone here a few times in the past but will never come back here again!! read more
