The King Arthur Carousel has been an attraction since the opening day of Disneyland and is one of the few opening-day rides that are still operating. It sits right behind the Sleeping Beauty Castle in the middle of the park. The carousel is just like any other carousel you would go on. The ride duration is two minutes and plays carousel organ music. It's a classic ride for kids and Disneyland fans.
King Arthur Carousel is a fun and classic attraction that works well for both children and adults. The wait time is usually short and the line moves quickly since the ride itself is only about three rotations. It is very mild overall and you probably will not get motion sickness. It is definitely less intense than the tea cups or Golden Zephyr, making it a great option if you want something simple and enjoyable. The carousel is located right in the center of Fantasyland which makes it easy to find and adds to the charm of the area. Everyone loves a novelty carousel and this one delivers exactly what you expect in a very nostalgic way.
I absolutely love carousel rides , so finally getting to ride King Arthur Carrousel at Disneyland Park was such a special moment for me! It was my first time riding it, and even though it's a short ride, it's full of nostalgia and charm. The carousel itself is absolutely beautiful and feels so classic and magical. I'm definitely a kid at heart, and it makes it even more fun when my kids want to enjoy rides like this with me. I love it!
Disney aficionados will (correctly) tell you that King Arthur Carrousel is so much more than "just another merry-go-round." This is one the Disneyland park's most iconic attractions, and it was one that was near and dear to Walt's heart. For that reason, I consider it one of the park's must-do attractions, no matter your age! This gorgeous carrousel features beautiful horses that are works of art! You can of course jockey for position to ride Walt's horse, but I've never been on this ride when someone wasn't sitting on it! There isn't a ton more to say about this ride, except that you need to do it if you are at Disneyland. Wait times rarely exceed 5 to 10 minutes, and it's even more magical at night when you are riding against a backdrop of Fantasyland's twinkling lights and in the glow of Sleeping Beauty's castle.
Hubby, baby and I sat on the chariot while our eldest rode one of the intricately carved hand-painted horses. We noticed hand-paintings of Sleeping Beauty scenes above the horses as well! A nice touch, since it was said to be Disney's best animated/artistic, expensive film of its time! I would recommend this must see in Fantasyland! Fun fact: Walt Disney got his vision for Disneyland after seeing his daughters ride the merry-go-round in Griffith Park LA. Since opening day in 1955, this ride has become a beloved classic!! We're definitely looking forward to returning to ride this lesirely ride, nice it's baby friendly too! SYOY! :-)
Disney Tip: Do not skip this attraction. Always worth the visit especially if you have children and even more so when Mary Poppins is riding. Guaranteed to being a smile to your child's face. My daughter requested to ride with a request to get on a white horse. All smiles during the duration of the ride. Memories - worth every cent.
Love Peter Pan or Mary Poppins? Love Merry Go Rounds in general ? We had a 10-20 minute wait for our next ride in Fantasy Land in Disneyland. To get out of the way of the the flow of the ever passing by crows we waited here. Another park goer told Doc he's been her for two days and if you hang around, Mary Poppins rides the carousel at 10 a.m. Just like Clockwork, she appeared on a horse just like magic. Interesting to watch the faces of the riders. Sheer joy to I'm not impressed surfaces on many faces. If going around n a circular motion to some upbeat music strikes your fancy, come along? Won't you?
This beautiful carrousel is located in the middle of Disneyland's Fantasyland behind the Sleeping Beauty castle. It is named after King Arthur from the "The Sword in the Stone" movie. Even though it is mostly for kids, anyone can ride the carrousel. I jump on it from time to time because the line usually isn't very long. Despite being refurbished on a couple of occasions, King Arthur Carrousel has been here since Disneyland opened. There used to be only one white horse before they painted all the horses white in the 70's. This was due to the popularity of everyone wanting to ride that one particular horse. All of the horses have names. The white horse with jingle bells hanging from its breast collar (named Jingles) was Walt's favorite horse. King Arthur Carrousel features organ music renditions of songs from many of the Disney films. Next to the carrousel is a stone with a sword in it that guests can try and pull out.
Such a beautiful carrousel to ride or just to watch. No matter your age, you should always take the time to ride a carrousel. You'll feel like a kid again and it'll bring a smile to your face.
The gold standard of traditional carousels. King Arthur's Carousel has been delighting young and old a like since Disneyland first opened. The carousel is actually older than Disneyland. Built in the 1920's, the carousel was refurbished to include scenes from Sleeping Beauty. During the refurbishment, the myriad of animals was changed to horses, and the ride was widened to allow the horses to stand four wide. Sure, from malls to zoos, carousels may be found everywhere. With limited time, why is this carousel a must experience? The hand carved horses are beautifully majestic. This is a 100 year old ride. Riding the carousel is a simple pleasure that has endured.
Loved this carrousel both as two adults and now with our baby! I'm insanely sensitive to rides that spin, but luckily can stomach this one just fine. It's beautiful in the day and night and rarely has a very long line. The music and moving lights held our 9 m/o's attention the whole time. I can't wait until he's big enough to get on one of the horses! For families with babies, there are a few benches you can ride on as a family while sitting instead of sitting on the horses.
What a carousel! I'm so glad to see this has such a high rating. I've never seen a more beautiful carousel! At night, all I want to do is stand here and admire. The beautiful lights, gorgeous colors, cute nostalgic characters, this Disneyland carousel has everything! Perfectly placed in the heart of Disneyland, you can't go wrong if you're looking for an excellent family adventure. I enjoy this ride so much... it's always exciting to pick out which character to ride. The music and atmosphere is nostalgic, romantic, happy and joyful. I love this ride when it's too crowded to ride other rides in Fantasyland. I went to Disneyland and it was raining and the carousel was absolutely stunning! Never pass up on the carousel, it will take you back to when you were a kid. A magical world of amusement!
King Arthur Carrousel is the OG spot in Fantasyland. To be honest, I cannot remember ever riding this ride. Now in the last 2 years, I rode this ride like 10 times. It is a kid favorite. You go round and round. Lines are usually short and moves fast.

One of the best parts of the carrousel is that, because it's so large, it accommodates massive amounts of people each go around so the wait for the ride is usually so minimal. My younger kids love this ride, often requesting multiple trips and, honestly, because of the minimal wait, I'm always happy to oblige. Not to mention it's always fun to go on one of the original rides of the park. It's fun to think about how many people over 70 years have gone around and around. The ornate decorations of the ride are absolutely stunning. There's so much to look at that I feel like I see something new every time I ride it. Finally, this is a great area to character watch. I've also seen so many of them ride the actual ride. Something that can't be accommodated on most rides. On my last trip we saw Peter Pan goofing off and riding much to the delight of kids (& let's be honest, their parents too). I often feel like a lot of people without little kids just pass right on through Fantasyland because there aren't any thrill rides. But, honestly, it's rides like this with its history and uniqueness that make it a near required ride for me on any Disneyland trip. read more

One of the best Carousel's that I have rode in! The King Arthur Carousel is located inside Fantasyland as the central attraction. You can see it from any of the rides inside Fantasyland, in particular, Snow White, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Casey's Train, and Dumbo. The Carousel in Fantasyland has been around for awhile now! It's a short-wait time, typically no more than 10-20 minutes. You can choose from a wide variety of horses at the Carousel. It's a great ride, if you ride it during the morning, or in the evening hours. If you ride it during the evening hours, while it's dark, you can enjoy the beautiful lights from the Carousel. This ride can be enjoyed by all ages. There is plenty of photo opportunities with King Arthur's Sword and Before/After the ride starts. The ride has several turns, about 6 turns. It does go by fast, but it's easy to ride multiple times since the wait time on the ride usually goes by quick. It's a great ride! read more

Nostalgic and awesome. Always a fun ride with great music and short line. Once in a while the line is slow but other than that it is my favorite carousel always. read more
The good ole carousel in Fantasyland one of the staple rides here growing up. As a little kid it was so fascinating being picked up by your dad and being placed on the horse and being buckled up and holding on to the pole as the ride starts and the horse going up and down. Ahh those were the days. This ride still brings back those childhood memories. read more
Although the King Triton Carousel over at Disney's California Adventure Park is one of my daughter's favorite rides, we always go on this carousel as well when visiting the Disneyland Park because of it's consistent short lines as well. Plus it's a carousel. All kids love carousels. No visit to Disneyland for a toddler is complete without a simple carousel ride (and a jalapeno cheese stuffed Mickey Mouse pretzel, of course!). My daughter loves carousel rides and the nice thing is that we are always able to fill this in between the other rides in Fantasyland that have much longer waits such as Peter Pan's Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Storybook Land's Canal Boats. That way she doesn't feel like we're constantly standing in line. Another quick filler in Fantasyland is doing the Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough self guided tour. There are a few flights of stairs in that one, but nothing in comparison to the ones at the Tarzan Treehouse walkthrough, which I previously reviewed. The longest I've seen the wait for the carousel during their peak seasons (Spring Break, Summer and Winter) has been approximately 15 minutes, otherwise it's normally about 5 to 10 minutes. The great thing about this ride is that they are all beautifully decorated WHITE horses. My daughter loves white horses. She has only recented selected ahead of time which color saddle or caped horse she wants to ride, otherwise just being on any white horse makes her happy. Much different from the King Triton Carousel where she ONLY wants to ride on one of the two sea otters. read more

WE LOVE THE CAROUSEL!!! for my daughter it is a must. we make sure to get the horse with the pink and light blue...just behind the bench...my son says he doesn't like it...but once he is on his chosen horse...he is grinning ear to ear! hubby...who gets motion sick playing "ring around the rosie's" waits on the sidelines and snaps the photos. love the music played on this ride...every round we wave to sleeping beauty's castle, then wave to daddy, then wave to dumbo etc.... i think we get the most photo's on this ride! i need to upload a bunch of em... read more
Hard to believe that as kids, my brother and I never rode the King Arthur Carousel (maybe because we thought we were too old for it). On our most recent visit, Kathy and I wanted to ride something we'd never been on... and also something kind of romantic. Hence, off to ride the horses! Quite honestly, this carousel is beautiful... all of the horses are white and gorgeously crafted. There's also a bench on the ride - but if you're on a carousel, what's the point of going on if you don't want to ride the horses (unless you're too heavy or can't reach the stirrups)? Plus, the calliope music that's playing is composed of classic Disney musical tunes - definitely worth a listen. And the wait is usually very minimal; about five minutes or so. Absolutely a good place to go if you want a relaxing ride in Fantasyland for the kids or the kid at heart. Of course, what trip to the King Arthur Carousel would be complete without trying to draw the Sword in the Stone? All these years, and I still can't draw it out... read more
One of the best original rides to Disneyland Park When you get on this ride it brings back nostalgia from your childhood and even better the music! Omg I love it, it is almost like a Jim Brickmam classically enhanced version of Disney classics mixed with the traditional tones of a merry go round! Lines usually move relatively fast here and I've never waited more than 15 minutes TOPS to ride this ride Definitely easy for my toddler to sit on her own with mommy riding right beside her read more
The King Arthur Carrousel is the center of Fantasyland...literary. It should probably get 5 stars just on that fact alone. There is nothing more basic at a theme park than a carrousel. You can find one just about anywhere you go...there is even one on a cruise ship now. Sure you an ride the one on the cruise ship but you will not be experiencing Disneyland at the same time. There are 68 horses in the circle...each one just a bit different from the last one. There is even a special horse by the name of Jingles that is adorned with jingle bells all over and if you look close enough you will find a hidden mickey made up of jewels on the hind legs of the horse. The line for the carrousel is never too horrible. I think the most I have ever waited was a little over 10 minutes. Going on this attraction is a great way to break up a day of roller coasters and floating boats that sail through lands with singing children. If you are a parent going on it with your child make sure and position your little one on the outside horse and grab the seat just inside from them. This way when the ride is in motion if you slow down your shutter speed you will get magical looking pictures where your child is in focus but the rest of the background is zooming by behind them. Plus if you get a seat at the right location and take a picture before you start your background will be an amazing view of the castle. :0) read more

What a fun ride! Perfect for reliving just a few moments of your childhood. All of the horses are exquisitely carved and like most attractions you'll find here, there isn't a paint chip in sight. Pro Tips: - Ride during your nighttime visit! - Take fun videos with the Boomerang app read more

Round and round you go. King Arthur's Carousel is your classic ride in the heart of Disneyland. My three boys enjoy this ride but they prefer something faster. If you are in the area jump on board for a spin. The line moves quick and you can get in and out in about 5 minutes. read more
