Cheese board, orange wine
Andrea L.

This place was absolutely beautiful! It was great seeing they carried multiple orange wines! The charcuterie board was delicious. The sliders were my favorite and the shrimp was juicy! I think everything was a bit over priced, but it is definitely a place I'll be coming back to in SCV!

We were in the area for the night and decided on Kindred Spirits for dinner. Really pretty place with tables inside and on a patio. We like sharing small plates, and enjoyed the wine selection.

New, non-chain, places in Santa Clarita to eat and drink delicious things? Yes, please. We made a reservation at Kindred Spirits Wine Bar as soon as we learned it existed, any place that has a cheeseboard is a place that I want to go to and eat the cheese at. That doesn't mean that it's going to be good, but in this case it was really good. It still has that new restaurant vibe. Everything is clean, the staff is really attentive. There are lots of seating options, including tables and seats at the spacious bar, and a separate room as well. My wife and I sat at a table near the bar, the place wasn't packed on a Thursday night so we probably didn't need a reservation, but never a bad idea to have one. We had a flight of red wines, our favorite... And they were especially accommodating, giving us tastes of some of them before the flight came out so we could make the best possible choice. That was very generous of them, considering that the wine-tasting glasses are about the same size as the flight glasses. There are great and unique vegetarian options on their food menu, including the Podi Fries - perfectly cooked skin-on french fries coated with Indian seasoning. These were delicious we would come back just to eat these again. My wife and I also shared truffle Arancini, coded fried rice balls on a marinara sauce... A classic Italian dish, again delicious. And we had the Grilled Romaine with Avocado and Cotija cheese - Nice looking dish with little tortilla strips on top... Not my wife's favorite iteration of this kind of dish, but we both generally liked it. There are a slew of other vegetarian offerings, including Shuka, soups, and salads, flatbreads, and other small plates, such as brussels sprouts and a creamy Barada dish. The kindred lasagna looks pretty good too, so there are lots of opportunities, as vegetarians to come back try something different and have more of their quite extensive wine collection. We love this kind of place and are so happy that they've opened up here in Santa Clarita.

Gambas al Ajillo succulent shrimp sautéed in garlic infused olive oil

Recently stopped in a few times to this VERY CUTE wine bar. I first stopped in two-ish weeks ago to meet a friend really quick. It happened to be Tapas Tuesdays. We tried the Pequillo Rellenos (pequillo peppers stuffed with manchego and chorizo) and the Gambas al Ajillo (succulent shrimp sautéed in garlic infused olive oil) both were fantastic! The bartender was very attentive and helped us pick wines that would go with our appetizers. Their happy hour menu looks fantastic, and we can't wait to come back for a full dinner.

Loved the ambiance of this restaurant! Although the food was not the best, very salty and hard to enjoy. My husband and I ordered a soup, pizza and pasta. Overall the soup was the best everything else just salty. The service was good. Wine very delicious. Would definitely go back again for maybe an appetizer and some wine but not somewhere to enjoy good quality food.

Honey Bubbles wine and Chocolate Salted Caramel Pots de Crème dessert --perfect ending to the night!

Kindred is my new favorite spot for wine in the SCV. Wine was great--I really enjoy the flight option. We have had the charcuterie twice now and enjoyed the cheese choices. The best part--they have gluten free flat bread and crackers! The prosciutto and fig flatbread was excellent. The servers are all knowledgeable about the wine and are very attentive. The owner is so sweet, too. I also love the overall ambience. Very inviting and cozy. They even have blankets in case you are chilly. Indoor and outdoor seating (sit by the fire on cold nights!) Check them out!

Went here to have brunch with my girlfriends. We have no expectations about this place but it didn't disappoint. The food we ordered were very tasty and good portion size. The wine we got is pretty good. Thee time we spent there was not a lot of people, so the service was great. I like the setting and decor inside - cozy and warm. I'd go back to try their dinner menu next time.

I was incredibly disappointed by my drink as it tasted completely watered down. Although the grilled cheese was the star of the show for us last time, all of us couldn't have been more disappointed by this time. Great presentation but zero flavor. To be completely honest if you're charging $20 for a grilled cheese sandwich it should taste amazing. Sad to say six cocktails and three grilled cheeses later, with an over $200 bill, we left incredibly disappointed. I've had far better dining experiences for much less. (And maybe not again.) The first time was a lot less busy and we had no problems. This second time was different, unfortunately. It was a Friday night and, being the day before Valentine's day, it was busy. No excuses though....if you are going to offer gluten free options you MUST be able to handle that accurately when it's busy. Our server was WONDERFUL and did exactly what she should have done with all of this. I had many questions about the gluten free options and she was able to answer them, or went back to the kitchen to double check. She did not make me feel like a bother or inconvenient at all. I ordered chicken alfredo with gluten free pasta. When my meal came out, it had fettuccine noodles. I had a twinge in my stomach because this did not seem right, and from last time, I did not remember those being the gf noodles. I asked the guy that brought my meal if this was the gluten free pasta, I think there may have been a language barrier because his accent was thick and his response was, 'is this what you ordered?' I said yes and he walked away. I waited for our server to come before I took a bite by so I could TRIPLE check with her and she noticed IMMEDIATELY the dish was not right. She said, 'oh no! This is not the gluten free pasta. It should be the penne noodles!' She took the dish away. I was interested to find that the correct dish with gf penne noodles came out within 5-7 mins. The only gf pasta that I know of that cooks that quick is fresh gf pasta (8mins). And this pasta you serve is not refrigerated fresh pasta, lol. Was the wrong dish sent to the wrong table by accident? But why did the person that brought my dish not know what he was bringing? There was also very little sauce to be found on the dish. I am not a sauce person so for me to say there was no sauce....it was almost non existent. Now....price. I don't remember the original price of the dish I got, but you up charge SIX?!?!?!?!!! Dollars for the gluten free substitution pasta (most I've seen is $3-4)? And adding chicken is another $8?! My dish came out to be $32. And I will be honest, it was NOT worth that. No manager came out to make sure everything was better. Nothing was taken off the bill for a HUGE mistake, that could have cost me my health or a trip to the hospital. Not happy with this experience. Not happy paying $136 for this experience. Train yourselves with more accuracy please. Thank you.

Lovely spot for drinks and dinner in Santa Clarita…read more I was in the area running errands and decided to grab dinner nearby on a Thusday evening around 6:30 pm. I found this place on Yelp and dropped by for dinner. My party of 2 was seated immediately. Personally I thought the menus were hard to read. The gray lines in the background were quite dark and clashed with the actual menu items. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to reprint the menus with lighter background. They have an extensive cocktail menu with a lot of gin-based drinks. They also have good selection of wine and NA drinks as well, including some mocktails. I got the I'm Driving mocktail ($13), which I really liked. It had good passion fruit flavor without being too sour. Felt like a really nice tropical juice. My friend really liked his drink Bramblin' Man ($17), which had strong notes of bourbon and blackberry. I wasn't super hungry, but the braised short rib looked amazing so I got that for $43. It was very tender, but I personally found it bland especially on the inside. I asked for additional sauce so I could drench each bite in the sauce. My favorite part of the plate was surprisingly the potato croquette, which was perfectly crispy and well flavored. My friend got the chicken club ($23), which he enjoyed. I stole a bunch of his seasoned fries since they were so good. I would've loved to get dessert but was too stuffed. Next time!

A few years ago I wrote a review when Piccola Osteria first opened. At the time it felt like a…read morewelcome clone of Piccola Trattoria dropped into the most suburban location imaginable, a strip mall across from Del Taco and a grocery store. It was good news for those of us in the neighborhood who wanted something better than chain Italian without driving across town. Four-plus years later, the real test is simple: do you keep coming back? We do. Regularly. That says more than any early review ever could. Piccola Osteria has quietly become our neighborhood standby. It's the place we go when cooking feels like a chore but we still want a proper meal, not takeout that tastes like it came from a food factory. Over the years we've worked our way through most of the menu, often more than once, and the consistency is what keeps us returning. The appetizers remain strong. The polpette are exactly what they should be: simple, flavorful meatballs in a good marinara. The carpaccio is fresh and bright with arugula and lemon. Prosciutto with burrata is hard to mess up if the ingredients are good, and here they usually are. The arancini with braised short rib are still one of the better starters on the menu. The pastas continue to carry the kitchen. The gnocchi Sorrentina are reliably soft and comforting. The fettuccine Bolognese tastes like a sauce that has had time to develop. The tortelloni di brasato and the pumpkin tortelloni are richer options that never disappoint. And when we're in a seafood mood, the linguine vongole or spaghetti pescatora usually hit the mark. The secondi are solid as well. The osso buco is consistently good, and the branzino is fresh and often filleted tableside, which still feels like a small luxury in a neighborhood restaurant. Service has also held up well. In all the years we've been coming here, we've only had one off night where the service felt disorganized. Otherwise it's been friendly and attentive. Another subtle but encouraging sign: some of the staff speak Italian, and you can actually exchange a few words in Italian if you're inclined. That's usually a decent signal you're not in a completely Americanized version of the cuisine. The menu still leans broadly "Italian" rather than regional Italian. There are a couple of concessions to American expectations, like spaghetti and meatballs or a Caesar salad, neither of which you'd typically see in Italy. But restaurants in suburban California have to meet their customers where they are, and those dishes clearly keep the tables full. If I still had a wish list after all these years, it would be the same gentle nudge: it would be great to see the kitchen rotate in a few seasonal or regional additions. Something like pici with wild boar ragù, trofie with pesto, or a few rustic polenta dishes would be fantastic. Italian cuisine has endless regional depth, and even a few rotating specials would add another dimension. The wine list remains reasonably priced, which is refreshing. Markups aren't outrageous, and the cocktails are well made. The White Negroni in particular is worth ordering. At the end of the day, Piccola Osteria has proven something more valuable than novelty: reliability. In a neighborhood where most dining options lean toward chains and fast casual, having a small place that consistently delivers honest Italian food is something worth appreciating. Not bad for a little osteria hiding in a strip mall across from Del Taco. Sometimes the most dependable neighborhood restaurants are the ones you almost overlook.

A great Italian spot!…read more Despite a busy night, the service was warm and welcoming. Our main server was great, but it's always a great sign when other servers come to check in on you too. The space is quite large, but a bit cramped. We were seated in a a patio-like space towards the back of the restaurant. We ordered the calamari, Mezzelune di Crostacei, and Tortelloni di Brasato. The calamari is highly recommended. It was fresh, lightly fried, and paired well with the sauce. The Mezzelune di Crostecei was amazing. The ravioli was perfectly cooked and the juices from the shrimp and scallop made it a perfect bite. The only disappointment was the Tortelloni di Brasato. The herb cream sauce was delicious and the pasta was perfectly cooked. However, the short rib filling was akin to a beef puree and several of the tortellonis had very little filling. Overall, I had a great experience and looking forward to try other menu items!
