This review and rating pertain exclusively to Dr. Charles Kwak. I strongly advise against…read morescheduling an appointment with this particular doctor. I visited Dr. Kwak on July 13, 2024, at the Fordham location. I am aware that Dr. Kwak also works out of the Queens Elmhurst location. So this is to warn other patients who may be scheduling with him at this location. When Dr. Kwak entered the room, he immediately began discussing my previous visit and medications with his assistant, without first addressing the reason for my current visit. It was evident that he had not reviewed the notes taken by the assistant upon my arrival, as my current visit was unrelated to my previous one. I had to tell Dr. Kwak three times that I was there for a new, unrelated issue. Despite this, he quickly and dismissively asked to see my skin and began prescribing medications without investigating the cause of my skin reaction or considering my recent allergic reaction and complex medical history, which the assistant had carefully documented. As he rushed out, I remembered that he had not examined my face, where I had another issue, because I was wearing a mask. The assistants tried to inform him, but I heard him dismiss them in the hallway, falsely claiming he had seen my face. When I confronted him, he attempted to gaslight me, insisting I had pulled my mask down, which I had not. He once again, started suggesting a face wash without any further investigation or questions. The stressed and exasperated looks on the staff's faces reflected my own frustration with this doctor. While I sat in the room, I could hear Dr. Kwak loudly speaking to other patients, prescribing medications without listening to their concerns and cutting them off mid-sentence, just as he had done with me and the staff. The staff at this location have been wonderful, and my experience with Dr. Curtis Chen was excellent. However, my encounter with Dr. Kwak was a stark contrast. Despite his impressive credentials and advocacy claims on the website, his behavior was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. If he cannot provide compassionate and attentive care to the underserved population, he should consider retirement. The people of the Bronx deserve better than the neglect and harm caused by doctors like him. He also has several other negative one star reviews stating they had a similar experience to mine here: https://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-charles-kwak-29hnm

But they never got the approval for it and then never followed up with me or with an appeal; so that left me a negative experience. It seems they're less competent than their flushing main office. 2ndly, I give my medications and what I stopped taking wasn't removed so the doctor had to do the job all over again. 3rdly, I was told that what I wouldn't be able to remember would be written down and for me not to worry. But what I did get was a couple of business cards with the name of the rx creams. The explanation and caution that was verbally communicated was not written nor provided like I was assured by Stacy Li. This was my biggest dismay. I have a lot of prescriptions and some require a two part mixture and others can't be used long term. All of that information I needed was not given to me in writing as promised. Competence and following through has been their biggest issue in my experiences.

Really great experience at this SPA; me and my spouse came for a treatment that we are in couple…read moreroom. The whole place is vey clean and bright. Everyone is super friendly. There was the consultation out front to explain the treatment and what's recommended based on our needs, also help us to understand the difference between treatments. This place is more focus on the slimming and weight management. Mix with Chinese traditional medicine and technic with high tech machine to help loose weight the healthy weight. They have been open for 10 years the physicians are very experienced. I picked the whole body lymph node drainage which starts with massage the lymph node behind the ear to the neck. And then move to focus on the lymph node on the neck, then move onto armpit(if you are ticklish maybe choose the only neck option) at the meantime they placed a herbal pot on the belly. After finish the front there's a little massage on the back with moving cupping method. After the treatment I felt rejuvenated and feel very good. Not to mention this place is very affordable, there are treatment packages you can purchase as well: They didn't do any upsell during the treatment, I'm sure they are very confident of their service. At least I will definitely come back for more

It's located inside a building that seems to have other businesses residing there. You need to ring the bell for them to let you in. After taking the elevator (or the stairs), and step out, it will be to your left. Upon entering, I was offered hand sanitizer and changed into a pair slippers. After confirming what I booked my appointment for, which was for a Meridian Facial, I was taken into a room where I changed my top into a towel-like cover up. Just from cleansing my face, I was shown just how much dead skin and dirt came out out my face. I honestly thought I was doing a good job with washing and cleansing my face at home but I guess not! The staff also used a Gua Sha to help increase circulation and drain the lymph nodes on my face, and a lot of time was spent on massaging my face. After, they put a mesh-like gauze on my face and then put a moisturizing facial pack on top of it. I had to wait about 10 or 15 minutes until it solidified enough. Once the staff peeled it off my face, my skin felt super smooth. At the end of the facial, there was also a head/scalp massage. One advice regarding the scalp massage would be to not time it on a day of an important event. Since it distributes the oils on your scalp, you probably know what I'm getting at. The whole experience was positive and relaxing. I did glance at the service menu that they offered and they seem to have a broad range of different things you can try (ie: facials, lymphatic drainage, herbal weight loss treatments, body treatments, and more). With the location being so convenient and the various options you have to choose from, I think it's worth a visit!

I was with you when you started at the bottom in that office in Great Neck,To the nicer one on the top floor of a building on 63rd drive. Now, we're here, at a hidden gem off of Yellowstone Blvd. You have your own office suite, and you have doctors working under YOU. ...and I'm still here boo. I've personally recommended countless people to his office. His staff is great, and polite. He has shown me with my own two eyes, conditions on skin that several doctors could not treat or figure out, in a matter of minutes. just by staring and poking at it. He really takes care of you, and touches you.....not in a creepy Bill Cosby way, but in a concerned doctor way .....ummm Allow me to explain myself. I have gone to dermatologists and doctors that won't touch you at all, let alone go near you. if you say; "doctor, I have this thing that started growing...." They just look at you and get skeeved out. This doctor does not. He gives a crap, he is always concerned about your health and well being. As a doctor should be. I mean for crying out loud, after a year of going to see him, my skin, hair and nails improved dramatically. I have seen him do miraculous things. Aside of being a product of his own work by fooling me into thinking he is just shy of 30, when he could be my grandfather! My jaw dropped. They do everything here you can think of. I am one happy patient. They just get very , very busy. so as much as I believe they accept walk-ins, if you do not have an appointment, depending on the day, you could be waiting a while.

The doctor didnt even look like he wanted to be there and bother with me. I work in healthcare, i work directly with patients. I would never treat them this way. The price isnt even the actual issue, it's the service received. You dont treat patients like this. Fuck this place. Never coming back. Went to another derm and got charged only $15. Staff was so nice & efficient. Doctor didnt rush me and was happy to answer my questions.

Extremely Disappointed After 2+ Years of Loyalty -- Very Money-Hungry Business That Doesn't Value…read moreCustomers My sister and I have been loyal, consistent clients at this salon for over two years. Sadly, our recent experience has shown that they care more about money than treating their customers with basic respect and professionalism. I sent a deposit to secure an appointment, clearly expecting it to go toward the booking. At no point did I say it was a tip. The owner had previously canceled on me last minute, and I was understanding. Instead of asking for a refund, I chose to reschedule. When rescheduling, I was told a time with no clarification of AM or PM. Since I asked for the earliest slot, I assumed AM. I traveled from Brooklyn to Queens early in the morning and waited 45 minutes without a single response to my texts or calls. Hours later, I was finally told to come back. Frustrated but still loyal, I canceled other plans and returned--only to be offered a free manicure to make up for the mix-up. That day, my Uber costs alone were over $100--more than the cost of the service. Given all the inconvenience, I chose not to leave a tip, which is well within my rights as tipping is optional. I usually always tip, but not after that experience. Later, I was refused service completely--because I wanted to apply the deposit I had already sent toward a new appointment rather than let them keep it as a tip. Denying a loyal customer over something so small and unjustified is beyond unprofessional. This business lost two long-time clients over a situation that could've been resolved with basic communication and decency. If you value your time, money, and being treated with respect--go elsewhere And I'm happy you responded the way you did because you only proved my point more of how viewed your customers as optional and I wasn't valued as a customer after 2 years of loyalty and consistent tipping !

I can't stop looking at my nails!…read more I've never done my nails outside before, so I was excited when my friend suggested doing our nails here. The spa is located on the second floor. Make sure to call to secure a spot, as they can easily get booked! The place is cash only, with tax if you Venmo/Zelle. The place was very chill, with the nail techs chatting with each other throughout my experience while they casually work their magic. I got the Gel Manicure ($40). They started off asking me to pick a color from a selection of books. Then the nail tech asked what shape I wanted, and began filing, shaping, and trimming my cuticles. Note to self and other nail newbies that nails need to grow out super long if you want square gel nails, to prevent the gel from touching your skin. The process was overall very relaxing, and fascinating for me to see the amount of care the lady puts into perfecting my nails. The process took around 1 hour 30 minutes, and even with my first time nails, the lady was chill and accommodated with patience, tips, and skill in making the gel manicure work on my short nails. Both my friend and I were very satisfied. My friend had the Regular Manicure ($15) and she noted how they added a finishing nail enamel spray, which other places don't do. Consider Arete for your next girls self care day!
