I was able to get a table with no wait during the week but it filled up very quickly so I think I got lucky. The service was good and the drinks were great. Food was also delicious I really enjoyed the skewers and the roe noodles. The steamed egg was 15 mins but was pretty good and worth it especially if still drinking.

Went for a weekday dinner and was very packed inside! the decor was very fitting for a Japanese izakaya and felt cozy inside.

TL;DR: you won't regret dining here. I'm already planning my next visit. 5/5 Came here on Saturday at 1.30pm (group of four), no reservation, were seated immediately. Promptly brought a wet towelette for our hands and water. Service overall was excellent, from start to finish. Ended up ordering the following: - Bottle of strawberry nigori sake (could have gotten one per person but we were already hitting a bar afterwards) - Yakitori combo appetizer (two skewers of each of the following: chicken+scallion, chicken meatball, and scallops): all of the skewers were delicious. I could have easily eaten three orders by myself. Succulent, juicy scallops, perfectly cooked chicken and scallions, and the chicken meatballs were perfectly moist and delicious. - Shrimp tempura appetizer: I love for shrimp so this one was all for me. Excellent tempura batter and nice-sized shrimp. - Trico roll: shared by the three others in my party and they all said they'd get it again. - Beef Yakiniku Don: probably my favorite. My GF got this and shared some with me. Amazing flavor and perfectly cooked. After a few bites I decided I would get this next time I come back for lunch. 7/5. - Pork Belly Nabe: my friend said it was delicious but I can't give it a rating myself. - Yakitori Don: my other friend got this and it looked as good as the chicken skewers we had as an appetizer. Again, can't give it a rating based on taste, but on looks a 5/5. - Yaki Udon: I got this. I was originally going to get sukiyaki but since two people had to order and no one else did, I ended up ordering this (my alternate was the Beef Yakiniku Don but my GF had already ordered so I got a different dish). Only complaint was that it could have had a little bit more beef but overall, perfectly sheet udon noodles, sauce, and beef. Would still get it again. 4.5/5. $180 for all (pre-tip). Well worth the price. Next time I return it'll be for sukiyaki, though, and I'll make sure whoever I go with is going to get it, too. 5/5, will be back.

Hotpot is what they're known for! I really enjoyed the collagen nabe. Tried their kiss of fire roll. It was nothing extraordinary. Also, tried their skewer combo (scallop, salmon and chicken/scallion). These were ok too. I would come back for the hotpot for sure

Had a great time celebrating a coworkers birthday here at Kimura. Was a large group so got to get a ton of things to try. First thing we got may have been my fav, conveniently called Addictive Cabbage it really was addictive like wow I just couldnt stop it was so good. I also looooved the meatballs the marinade was super flavorful. Other appetizer options were pretty tasty as well, the takoyaki was soft and sweet, gyoza were large, and chicken skewers were delish. Split a shabu shabu hot pot which was pretty good, all the meat and toppings were nice but I wasnt really tasting much of the broth! Loved the sauces that came with it. Also don't sleep on the yuzu hot sauce thats on the tables that stuff was fire.

Such a warm and toasty option on a single digit degree day! I've been before years ago and managed to get seated at that same exact table by chance haha. We started with the chawanmushi, which they say takes 20 min to make, and the agedashi tofu. Both were pretty good and satisfying - I wouldn't say extremely flavorful but subtle as they should be. For some reason both nabes too EXTREMELY long to come lol a table was seated and got theirs long before us and we had finished our appetizers for a while. They came by and said sorry so they must have forgot? And then 10 minutes later the nabes came. They are really decent portions but I don't know if I just got full already from waiting for so long. I love the collagen nabe, the broth was really collagen packed and after reheating my leftovers, was still so good! Overall it's really bustling and cozy, and so good in the winter!

If you're looking for a slightly upscale hot pot cozy vibe, Kimura is IT. Kimura has been on my list for awhile, but I haven't been able to try it until recently. It was a cold day, making it perfect for this meal. My friend and I ordered the shabu shabu pot for 2. I'm used to cooking everything myself, but was so pleasantly surprised when they brought our bowl out, overflowing with veggies and meat, and said to leave it and that they'd be back to cook it in 10 minutes. As the self assigned 'cooker' in hot pot dinners, it was so nice to just be able to catch up with my friend knowing that I wouldn't have to do any of the actual cooking in the pot. They also make two sauces for you to eat with the food. After our waiter came back to mix everything together, it created a delicious and lovely soup. Cannot emphasize enough how great it was in comparison to the insanely cold weather we've been having. My only qualm with the soup is that toward the end, it gets really really salty. Could be unavoidable, but it was just disappointing because I wanted to drink some soup. What brings this to 5 stars was actually the dessert. We got a matcha almond jelly tart, and oh my god I've been dreaming about her. It's mostly a jello texture, but then in the center there's this creamy pudding that is everything and more. I could eat 10 of them.

I stopped into this restaurant to get some lunch! When I arrived I found parking close by. I walked into a small restaurant. I ordered with the wonderful owner the: Kubota Koju Sake Old Fashioned Scallop Skewers Karaoke & Wings Kimchi Beef Fried Rice Shabu Shabu with ramen The sake was great and I also loved their version of the hot pot with the ramen! It was a good experience!

Food is gassss here - the hotpots are an absolute must. We got the pork belly nabe with miso flavoring which tasted so clean and flavorful. Broth is hearty and while there's not a ton of meat, it is really good. The yaki don was also really flavorful and made for a good contrast from the hotpot. Loved the way they cooked their mushrooms in this dish.

Kimura might just be my favorite restaurant on the St. Marks Place strip now. They are known for their heartwarming hot pots, but they also have sushi, apps, rice and noodles! I ordered the below: Karaage & Wing Combo Yakitori Combo (Chicken Meatballs, Shrimp, Scallop) + Salmon Mentai Mushroom Trio Udon (Stir-Fried Noodle) Porkbelly Nabe Shabu Shabu (U.S. Wagyu beef) The yakitori had so much flavor and was grilled perfectly! My personal fav was the chicken meatball. The noodles also had a lot of mentaiko in them and different mushrooms. The nabe however blew me away. You can pick your broth and we went with their classic standard option which was perfect. The nabe is portioned for 1, but you can ask for a portion for 2 or more people if you have a bigger party. Same goes for the Shabu Shabu, which does have a 2 person minimum. It was seriously what I needed during this weather and the service was 10/10. The workers cook the hot pots for you and pour it into individuals bowls. I also recommend getting white rice on the side to eat it with!

St. marks have always attracted a good crowd and Kimura has been here for a long long time! When you walk in, you can already smell deliciousness and it shows with almost every table with a burner and a pot of food to share. Kimura is known for their nabes and sukiyakis, where they vary in proteins and flavor profiles. But all contain a warm, hearty bowl of meat and veggies in a savory broth. So of course, we had to order the pork belly nabe! So I'm going to describe it just in case anyone else have the same questions we did. For the pork belly nabe, you are able to order it for yourself, however if you order for 2 or 3 people to share, the size of the hotpot changes. That's why you'll see different size pots on different tables. The size of the pot is proportional to how many servings you pay for. In my picture, it shows a serving size for 3 (both wider and taller pot than for a serving of 1 or 2). For the large pot, it does take about 20 minutes to boil in front of you before you can start eating. The staff do monitor it closely and will mix it for you in between those 20 minutes to make sure everything is thoroughly cooked. When it's ready, they bring small bowls and serve you the first time, then it's up to you and your party to self serve. They bring an extra pair of wooden chopsticks and wooden ladle for serving. In terms of taste, it's pretty homey- if that makes sense. Like pork bones simmered for a while. They also come in the side with a sesame oil - garlic sauce, soy sauce, yuzu sauce, and chili oil. Loved the chili oil! You mix the sauces yourself to create a dipping sauce so create a mix that matches your preferred flavor profile! Collectively the only gripe we had is that there wasn't enough meat and tofu, and there was an abundance of cabbage. If we had to guess, half the pot was cabbage. So we didn't end up finishing it all. Overall though, we enjoyed the service and our dinner!

We were craving some hot Japanese hotpot on a fairly cold day, so we decided to come to Kimura. We sat in the covered outdoor area in the back, and it was definitely a vibe-- it almost felt like we were in an izakaya in Japan! Service was fast and very friendly. - Pork belly nabe: 8/10 (yummy but definitely on the salty side) - Nigiri: 8/10 (decent nigiri-- not omakase-level, but still very fresh) - Sake: 10/10 Overall, Kimura is definitely a good option if you're craving some hotpot on a cold day. I think I slightly prefer Hakata Tonton in midtown, but Kimura was still very good!

Niku and gyunan were divine. In the niku, they somehow managed to make the tripe and beef tendon immensely flavorful and tender without being heavy-handed. The bonito base soup was somehow savory and full-bodied while also being sweet and light, so even though I was about to burst it didn't feel icky. Nothing to note in appetizer land besides the fact that I finally tried monkfish liver and it literally tasted like a salmon-flavored paté. Both surprised and relieved it tasted so normal. But at last, as I searched on DoorDash I stumbled upon this glorious restaurant they call Izakaya Fuku. I was drawn to the adorable names for their sushi roll dishes like "Strawberry Fields" and their Italian Japanese fusion pasta dishes, "Creamy Mentaiko Bacon Pasta" with creamy mayonnaise, spicy cod roe and bacon like are you kidding me? It's a bummer I wasn't more hunger or that I didn't have more bucks in my wallet because I wanted all these dishes. And the Chirashi Don, god it looks so beautiful the way that it's arranged in the photos online. I finally decided on the carbonara. And I was drawn to the fact that it was udon based. Now, I've just been living in hawaii these past years so that Japanese twist on an Italian dish that I just love oh so much really brought me back to missing the islands and the Asian spins they had on cuisines. Now my food may have not come in a jiffy but for after midnight cravings I'd say it was well worth the wait. And my oh my the portion was huge!!!! I slurped that big boy up. It was SOOO delicious and savory. I love comfort food and this had me in carbonara heaven. I loved indulging into every single last bite. By the looks of the picture the restaurant looks lovely, I'd love to stop there and try it in person. Thank you. Thank you! My belly and my heart are very much satisfied.

It would've been very easy to miss unless you're specifically looking for this place. Upon entering you're greeted by the numerous Michelin guides lol, front desk seated me pretty shortly after ensuring my seat was set, I was sat at the bar where they have a scan menu. Server immediately was attentive and filled my glass with some water. I was originally going to get the Dashi ramen but after I shared I'm allergic to shrimp the server felt it was a bit risky he was very careful so I appreciated that. I got the Tokyo ramen instead and a side of shishito peppers (he also omitted the Dashi JIC). It was happy hour so the appetizer was $7 I/o $8 and I also got an Asahi draft for $8. Ramen was $22. I was very surprised the server even asked about the oil the pork and peppers are fried in JIC of cross contamination - he shared that they use the same batch of oil as frying tempura (but I was ok with that but just watch out if you're like super super sensitive). Ramen: 7/10, decent bowl but not the best I've had. Feels a bit more Americanized and I prefer authentic Japanese ramen. Soup was rich, flavor but again it's one you can find at many other ramen shops in nyc. Noodle was a bit lackluster it was a bit soggy, not springy like freshly made ramen. The pork slices are flavorful but felt it's bit thin, I prefer a good cut...but personal preference. There's 2 thicker slices of marinated bamboo and half a jammy egg topped with scallions. Decent bowl but don't think it's worth $22. Shishito peppers: nicely fried. Well seasoned. 9/10 Overall - good spot for a decent bowl of ramen in the area. Environment: clean, nothing that caught my attention with design but just minimalist style, with black hard

We had no problem with that and was seated right away. The servers came over immediately and asked us what we wanted to order for food and we put in a good sized list. The food came so quickly after ordering, except for the meat (beef and pork). We decided to give it some time because this has happened in the past, but by 10:30, we were starting to get full and we wanted to ask the waitress. She said she would ask and walked away. Then a waiter came by at 10:40 explaining last call and asked what we wanted to order and I repeated that we still have not gotten our meat and we might as well order more meat. He uses his headset to try and find out what's happening and I see him come out with trays of meat and he brings them to other tables, including tables that arrived after us and doesn't bring us anything. At this point, a third waitress asked if we want last call and we reiterate to her that we still have not gotten our meat yet other tables had. Finally, the last waitress was able to bring us our meat and even some additional dishes that we didn't order. We have had something similar happen in the past where they bring the meat last, maybe because it's the most expensive and they hope we get full off everything else and order less meat? (This is my personal opinion but when it happens more than once, I start to speculate) This experience was heightened by the timing of closing but was, regardless, extremely frustrating. The last waitress was extremely kind and attentive afterwards, to likely diffuse the situation.
