I wish I coud select no stars for this review. I sent my wife here to get her car checked. Kim said the car had no issues. After my wife left his shop the cars motor broke down a few miles down the road. He install an illegal catalytic converter in my car so I had to have another shop fix it to pass my smog check. The staff is not good with collision repairs either. My transmission had a shifting issue and Kim could not diagnose the issue. I took it to the dealer and the problem was the shifter cable was broken. He also did not do a good job on fix my suspension for another car. Buyer/Consumer beware!!! Find another shop for repairs and another dealer to purchase a used car. read more

Poor service, rude communication. He said he is open Saturday until 5:30. I ubered there to pick up my car at 2 and he was closed! Had brake job done there and they were squeeking after a day. I will never go there and will not recommend him to anyone. read more

Despite the name, this is actually an auto repair place that specializes in Hondas. I was driving to work a couple of months ago when my radiator tank blew. I was able to get to work, but I knew I was S.O.L. unless I could find someone local to repair it for me. A co-worker heard of this place, so I decided to call them up and give them a try since I was in a bit of an emergency, and no matter where I went, they'd have me by the short hairs. This place is on Rosemead Boulevard, just north of Rush Street, north of 60 Freeway. It's on the west side of the street, and at first glance, you might mistake it for a junk yard, because there were a number of wrecked cars in the front part of the lot. I half expected Mad Max to come barreling out of the menagerie of vehicles. Frankly, the whole place seemed to be in a state of disarray and it was a little disconcerting when I first got there. Don't be afraid. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable, and he will do you right. After all was said and done, the guy was able to replace my radiator, with a brand new unit, for about half of what I would have paid if I had gone to my usual mechanic. He gets an extra star for getting it done on a rush basis. I dropped it off at around 9 a.m. and I was able to pick it up right after lunch. I've had nothing but a great experience with Kim and his wife at Dr. Honda - I think they changed their named recently to Kim Se Auto or something like that - he expanded to do paint and body work...he sells used salvage cars as well (the lot is crowded with them). Anyway, getting back to Dr. Honda. Kim is a guy I can trust. He does what I need for my old Accord EX (92) and he does it for 40%-50% less than the dealer. He's kept my accord going all these years and I've been going to him for over ten years now. He even gave me a ride to my office when I used to be nearby. We all need honest, reliable and hard working mechanics and Kim is straight up, kind and trustworthy. His English isn't that good, but you basically get what he's talking about. He's a good man and my car is proof that he knows what he's doing. read more

I've taken all three of my Honda's to Kim, from my 1997 Civic (that needed a new engine eventually) to my 2006 Accord and now my 2010 Accord V6. They have always taken care of any issues I had in a timely manner and charged a fair price. They aren't fancy but if you want a good, honest mechanic that will take care of your car then this place is exactly that. Took car to Kim for some repair work and was charged over $2000. Right after his work, car cannot accelerate over 45mph. Took car back to him to check and he told us the transmission is bad and needs to replaced. He said a rebuilt transmission would cost $1800. When I took the car to another shop, the mechanic says my car had very little transmission oil left and surprised that the previous mechanic did not tell us about it. After they refilled the fluid, car drives smoothly. We Will never go back to Kim Se Auto again. read more

I first came to Dr. Honda (Kim Se) in 2010 when I had the dreaded Honda/Acura Transmission trouble in my 2002 TL. Hondas are known for their bad transmissions from that era of vehicles (Accord, Pilot, Odyssey, TL, CL, MDX). Dealer quoted $3,500 to repair it. Found Kim Se from Craigslist of all places...and he was able to fix it for less than half that amount. Fast forward 2 years later in 2012...wife's 08 Scion XB was having transmission problems as well just outta warranty (so much for Japanese reliability). First place I thought of was Dr. Honda...but wait is he also Dr. Toyota? Apparently he is as well since he was able to repair it for even less than he did my TL. He provided me with 2 years warranty on both 2 transmissions (only caveat being that I have take it to him within those two years to have him change out the transmission fluid). It's been 4 years now since the TL repair and 2 since the XB and haven't had any further problems with both transmissions (knock on wood!!) His rates for transmission maintenance is at about 50% less then the dealer as well. All and all a very honest mechanic who is very soft spoken and friendly....very glad I found him and although I would hate to see him again (which would mean I'm having car troubles) he is my go to mechanic now. read more

HEED MY ADVICE: NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I took my car here since (1) I drive a Honda Accord so I thought they would be experts with Hondas based on their name and (2) it's cheaper than going to the dealer. What a mistake! I ended up paying the difference in my time and gas since I had to take multiple trips back! Ok, so my first visit, I went there to change the timing belt and water pump for standard 90k mile maintenance. At the same time, I had them install my new HID bulbs with my old HID kit. When I got my car back, my bulb was not properly installed. It was working, but carelessly put back so that it was hanging off. I mean if my car shook from running over a bump, the bulb could have fallen out of the headlight unit. It was that bad! Anyways, I ended up putting it back in myself (easy job) but I was amazed at the poor workmanship. A day later my left bulb doesn't work, doesn't light up at all. I drive back and they blame it on my wiring, but they do end up fixing it for me. A month later, my driver side door won't open. I called the Honda dealer since I didn't want to deal with crap from a small shop again. Honda quoted me $350 to get my door open and fix it. Dr. Honda was $250. I thought since it's not engine work, why the heck not? Save $100! I'm so stupid; I should have learned from the first time. So I take it to Dr. Honda. A week after I get my car back, a new problem. When I pull the door handle, the door would lock instead of open (this happens 1 in every 30 tries or so). This little bug caused me to get locked out of my car once with the keys inside! I got so pissed. I took it back and told him about the problem but he didn't believe me since he tested the door handle and it worked every single time. Of course! He tested it about 5 times, told me everything is fine. I insisted there was a problem since it happened about 10-15 times before I took it back. He said he'd take a look so I left my car. The next day I come back and he tells me he tested it and everything was fine, so he didn't fix anything. I don't know how I can prove to him the bug is there since it worked fine when he tested it. Anyways, I decide to let it be since my car is old (and I'll probably get a new one soon) so I leave. When I get home, I find out my car door won't lock/unlock from the inside. Yay, another new problem. I took my car back AGAIN today and after I said one sentence to tell him the new problem, he yells at me "LOOK I FIXED THE DOOR, THE LOCK PROBLEM IS NOT MY FAULT" and at that point I got so pissed I yelled at him back at the top of my lungs. He caused me so much headache driving back and forth and he has the nerve to yell at me? After I yell at him, he walks over to my car, figures out it was his fault, fixes it (took 2 minutes). He just forgot to connect the power lock after the last visit. No apology for yelling at me. Nothing. Dr. Honda, the only doctor that makes your car MORE sick. They are very careless and do not take accountability for their own mistakes. Yelling at me was extremely poor customer service. TAKE YOUR CAR TO THE DEALER, OR FIND A DIFFERENT SMALL SHOP IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY. D O - N O T - G O - H E R E ! read more

Kim Se's Auto aka Doctor Honda is the best...We use to take our '2003 Pilot to Horizon Honda off Azusa Blvd. for years up until resently after I found out it was gonna need a variety of repairs done to it before the end of the year...However, when I priced out what the cost for the scheduled "Major Svc." job (including spark plugs) I saved $265.00 when compared to Horizon Honda...Hands down no more taking it anywhere else...I'm sold on Kim and his great prices and honest recommendations & quotes...Don't get me wrong, I still call Horizon for their quote so I can appreciate the savings I'll be getting at Kim Se's Auto...Just thought I would share this with one and all who want to save their money... read more

I have been a customer of Kim Sae for years! My car is a 1996 Honda and with his help I've kept my Accord in pretty good shape. Kim Sae is knowledgeable and I have always thought he is fair in pricing. I am giving Kim Sae a 5 for big car repairs but take away one star for minor issues. This is not the place to drop off your car for an oil change or to replace a bulb. They are always working on major repairs and really not a 20 minute turnaround type of place. They are however the best place to go to for those "oh crap" moments when you really need someone to fix your car and do it right. It's not the fanciest looking place but Kim Sae and his wife are awesome people and it's really been nice to see his business grow over the years. read more

He told me it would be one week before my transmission could be replaced on my Honda Civic Hybrid but he got it done in 3 days!. I compared several places who said between $3500-$5000 but he fixed it for only $2000! I appreciate his honesty and the attention he gave me. It's hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust. He is the man. I've always owned Hondas and go to the dealers for service. From now on I will only bring my cars to him. If you own a Honda do yourself a favor and pay him a visit. He is also very nice and humble. Thank you very much Doctor Honda! This morning I went back to him again. My power window stopped working. The dealer wanted $400 and he done it for $180. Kim is the MAN! We were purchasing a car in his area and didn't properly plan. We called him on our drive down and asked if he could squeeze us in, he did and charged us half of what the dealer wanted. I have been a customer for years but most recently the owners attitude has changed. At one point in time Kim the owner took pride in customer service. Today that is not the case. It seems that time is money is the phase he uses. No more smile or good service. Just busy. His rates have gone up and the quality has not.
