This lovely nail salon is professional, polite, clean, responsive and friendly. They give you a drink menu to order from and promptly served it. The last time I went there, I asked for water with cucumber. It was recreshing and they refilled it with more ice and water - it was perfect. They also offer wine and other great cocktails like an espresso martini. I had a great pedicure that was nice & relaxing. Their massage pedicure chairs are great. My gel acrylic nails filled by Sony. She did an excellent job and added a floral design that was detailed and gorgeous. I received many compliments. I can't remember a time where I have been more pleased with my nails. Avoid, avoid, avoid! I got my nails done for a 10 day long trip and the SAME day they started bubbling up and then the bubbles peeled open in the shower. I left the next morning for the trip, so I couldn't get them fixed in time. I emailed them with pictures the next day, no response. I went back in today to explain what happened, and they offered to repair them but since I got them done for a trip that is now over I didn't really need them done anymore. I asked for a refund, which of course they do not give. After a lot of back-and-forth, they explained that this is industry standard for nail salons. Whether that is true, or not, I don't know maybe it is! However, the fact still remains that I paid for my nails to be done and they weren't done correctly and I wasn't able to come back to get them fixed before my trip. They couldn't make an exception for that which is their right, but I will never go back. They said they couldn't afford to give refunds, and I can't afford to pay for nails that aren't done right. Ivy, who I think is like an assistant manager or something was super rude about it. There was a guy manager that was way more chill but still didn't fix anything. Boo, this place! Every time I go, I receive quality manicures and pedicures from different manicurists. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had unique colors. I was looking for an almost iridescent shiny white, so I was so excited when I saw the "pearl" gel selections!! It was perfectly shiny and pearl-like, so I did not have to pay the extra fee to add iridescent powder to my nails. My only rife with Kim's nails is the cluttered inside. I saw sat along the wall of the right side of the salon, and there was a long shelf that extended along the wall, and it was very disorganized and cluttered. I was also nicked more than once, so I did not appreciate that. Besides that, they do a good job of shaping and painting nails at decent prices. read more

Went in to get my nails off and new paint.. honestly really disappointed with the manicure. I'd skip it if I were you. There's nothing special besides they cut your cuticle. No hand massage, no cream.. and the technician just seemed to not care. He left me with lop sided nails and made me pay halfway through the service. This place feels like Austin's best kept secret for nails. But I'm not here for gatekeeping so let me tell you about this little gem. First, the location is so convenient for all of us in South Austin. The Parking lot in this strip mall is somehow always packed though, they're currently working on a side lot but once that opens back up it should help. I usually see Mia, she's so skilled at design work and I love the quality of her work. I've brought in a few ideas I've seen on Pinterest and she not only does them, she makes them look better. I usually DM her on Instagram to make sure she has availability. Sometimes she's fully booked and it's my only available time so I've seen a few of the other techs and they've all been wonderful. Sony is so friendly and also very skilled! If you call they don't necessarily set appointments, they're more walk in set up. But if you find a tech you like they probably have a way to directly contact them and they will set time apart for you. I also get my eyebrows waxed her and they always look great. They offer free beverages that include water, soda, margaritas, and some wine. Occasionally I get a text offer with a discount because I've signed up for their rewards at checkout. read more

I've been going to Kim's again lately and I really thought they deserved a rerate. Amanda and Kenny are both wonderful nail techs. I've only ever done gel from here but the quality is there. It truly lasts for 3-4 weeks before chipping off. Likewise the service received from these two was really good! I also like Amanda for eyebrows (she's my go to). The dude up front managing the books is funny and nice! Kim is also super sweet. I think this is my go to nail shop now that I know some really good techs here! I wanted to avoid leaving this review, but after reaching out to the salon twice via email and receiving no response, I feel inclined to do so. I am very disappointed with the service I received. The nail tech was careless and disengaged. She removed my hands from the lamp before it was done drying almost every time. When she painted over my nails with topcoat she was negligent and overpainted so she got topcoat on my skin too, causing me to feel an uncomfortable burning sensation time and time again (not sure why...she may have cut my cuticles too much. Regardless, I felt physical pain). The finished product is uneven, has odd bubbles, gaps between the cuticle, and topcoat dried under my nails. I've attached pictures taken 1-2 days after my service. I know things happen and sometimes people have bad days, but I feel like I have the salon the opportunity to make it right, and I received no reply. I used to go Kim's frequently a few years back, I'd taken a step back from getting my nails done and after landing a new gig and starting a new chapter In my career I wanted to treat/reward myself to getting my nails done. of course, like everything else I wasn't too surprised that I would be charged $100 for a full set + a simple design (French tip with a dot at the base of my nail). I decided to just get a regular French bc jt would be $90 instead. The nail tech was nice as the beginning of the session, but as I pointed out flaws (uneven filing or unfilled color) she started getting rude and very off putting. she was honestly so rude!! like miss girl?!? I'm paying $100 for this set, I'm tryinh to relax and have a fun time and I felt so uneasy. I instantly felt unwelcomed and it was so uncomfortable. my bestie and I even stopped kekeing bc it was so awkward! anyways, I walked out super disappointed. my french tips are uneven, unpainted, and I had to remove so much left nail polish around my nails and fingers. cuticle cutting was an extra $10 and they didn't even push back my cuticles and cut them so fast and carlessly. honestly super disappointing and rly uncomfortable experience. You'd think the moral and environmental would be more welcoming/open given its a salon that people go to to treat themselves. read more

The good--I love that they accept walk ins because sometimes I am in a rush or things come up and this is my go to spot. They have a points system which is great and the serve complimentary beverages like wine, sprite, margaritas and mimosas which is awesome!! It's also right next to mh favorite pizza joint Aviators so you can't miss with that! :) The bad-- I've come here twice and I hate being up sold, the nail tech kept asking me if I wanted gel for my pedicure and if I wanted to get SNS nails ... I said no the first time. I've walked out of places due to this ugly behavior. It makes me uncomfortable and makes the experience feel very cheap! Both times I've been here and gotten and over priced fill-in why is it $47-$50 for a fill???? you're literally just changing my color. There's no shape change or anything... they definitely overcharge which makes me NOT want to lose a generous tip for sleazy behavior like this. I have been going here since I moved here last year. The service and quality has been going down. Today I went in for a pedicure and came out bleeding and limping. The young lady that was doing my pedicure cut my toe with the foot callus scrapper, and no I don't have any calluses. As she ignored it, my foot began to burn. The frustration started to kick in because there was no apology or acknowledgment until I said something. When Kim came over to remove my ingrowns she looked at my foot like what the heck. After multiple techs came over to see my foot. By this time I have tears in my eyes and my toe is throbbing with pain. I still paid for my service, but I will never be back here. UPDATE: They have you sit down with someone to start you off then make you wait for someone else to do your design. In my case, both times were French. The last time I went it was for a refill that cost me $68 without a tip. I tipped out the man who did my full, who was really aggressive with his tools. He used a sharper and textured tool to shave down my acrylics and that left my natural nails really thin and broken. He was doing it at a high speed and it hurt my nails. I kept tugging them away and he kept pulling them trying to make me relax but how could I if it was burning/ hurting me. A week in a half free getting my refill my nails started to lift. I was loyal to my other salon "Bobcat Nail and Spa" in San Marcos for 7 years, so after moving to Austin and having some poor experiences I was hesitant to try a new salon. I walked in at the beginning of July without an appointment, didn't have to wait at all and was sat with Tim. He made sure to ask exactly what I wanted, and had follow up questions so he could provide the best service possible (purple nail set in pics). My nails weren't quite long enough so we did tips and dip powder. Honestly, it was a really great experience: the salon reminds me of my old salon, but a little bigger. It was relatively quiet without loud music, it was busy and still the customers were on the quiet side so it was relaxing, and the space was super clean. Yesterday I called ahead to see if Tim was available, and again I was seated very quickly! He did another amazing job (shorter nail set in photos). I've been wanting to grow my nails out so we just dip powder without tips and they look stunning. He was gentle and made sure not to file my nails down too much so they would still be strong. Also, I don't trust very many people with my eyebrows; I'm a Lebanese girl and the only way you can really tell is if my eyebrows aren't plucked super thin. I didn't catch her name, but I told her I just wanted my eyebrows to look symmetrical and I wanted to keep my eyebrows big, and she did a very good job. I have a nail tech that I typically frequent but come here when I cannot get in last minute. The location is convenient, the prices are ok, and I can get a decent mani/pedi. I always refer friends here if they need something quick and always tip 30-35%. I talk about this place so often that a friend gifted me a gift card that I came here to use today. Unfortunately, my experience today was far from decent. My friend and I arrived at the same time and requested a deluxe pedicure. I requested the same colors that were on my toes previously and wrote down the polish numbers in the correct order on a notepad. The TALL FEMALE TECH in her 50s with SHORT GREY HAIR hastily told me to give her the notepad back, and then began showing her coworkers the different colors I wanted. She began huffing and complaining that I wanted a different colors on each nail. The pedicure water was also lukewarm and she would not communicate with me on where to put my foot. She began hitting my foot and getting mad when I didn't know where she wanted me to place it. Kind verbal direction would have been nice. Funny enough, the nails that I had previously were also from here and the tech could not stop telling me how she loved that I chose different colors and was so nice about my selection. My friends tech asked her if she wanted wax so my friend asked if I was going to get wax on my feet and I said yeah sure! My tech quickly said she could not do it for me bc my skin was very very dry and it wouldn't work because I'm getting gel. Refusing an upgrade is something I have never even heard of. My friend then explained that she was getting gel as well and questioned her decision and the tech just stated that they all do things differently. My tech began my nails and stated that I wrote down the wrong number for a specific color and I apologized and said oh I can look up the right one if you hand me the samples. She rolled her eyes, gave me the samples and spoke under her breath to the woman next to her. She then blamed me for a mistake her coworker made by picking the wrong color and kept saying it is your fault. At this point it was clear she had a problem doing my nails so I asked her if I needed to grab someone else to finish. She quickly tried to change her attitude and act as if she was friendly the whole time. I could tell the tech next to her was uncomfortable by her actions. I will never come here again. Save your money and go to golden nails down the road or dope culture for an incredible experience. I loved this nail salon due its affordable prices and the decent mani-pedi I received during my first few visits. however, as time went on, I started to notice a gradual increase in the prices without a corresponding improvement in the quality of service or the outcome of my nails.
