Although the girl was quick (45 minutes in and out) my gel mani on 6 out of 10 fingers started peeling! The pedicure wasn't awesome wasn't bad so no comment. I'm trembling right now during my second visit because my pedicure girl is being so rough. I asked her not to cut my cuticles but she went ahead anyways and started hashing at my toes until one of them started bleeding. I came here recently to get a wax and pedicure. It was a bit busy but the woman at the desk made sure I got started on as soon as possible which I liked. They are pretty thorough, and kept checking to make sure there was no residual hairs. The downside: they double dipped and did not have numbing spray for sensitive areas. I also got a pedicure there by the same woman who did my wax. She was good so there was no complaint there. I would go here again if I was ever in an emergency for a mani pedi, but I will just stick to my usual spot if I can in the future. read more

A woman by the name of Sara gave me a gel manicure and regular pedicure. She cut my nails way too short for my pedicure. As for my gel manicure, some of my nails were filed crooked. She also had disgustingly dirty fingernails which she dug into my skin as she was doing my nails. Despite having a horrible experience and being unsatisfied with my nails, I gave her a tip and yet she demanded that I pay her 20%! Went to this place for a lip and chin wax. The women grabbed a stick and started to wax my lip, which of course the stick would need to graze my lip, the water proceeded to put the stick back into the wax instead of throwing it away. When I asked why isn't she using a new stick instead of double dipping, she said ok and grabbed a new stick. The issue is, if I didn't say anything she would've kept using the same used "dirty" stick and if she did it then, how many times have they done it before? When waxing, new items should be used each and every time for sanitary purposes. When I brought it to the receptionist attention as I was leaving (I did not complete the service after I stopped her and asked about the stick) the receptionist just said ok. This was my first time going to this salon. They provided a very average pedicure for my two friends and I. Unfortunately I will never go back. Upon paying I realized you are unable to tip on a credit card. After paying we went to run across the street to Chase for cash and the receptionist called us out in front of everyone. He raised his voice to ask why we weren't tipping and said we had to before leaving. When I explained we were going to the bank he said there was an ATM there that we had to use. At first I enjoyed going to Kim's Nail Salon - it's convenient to get to and very nice inside. However, my last visit was terrible. I was unaware that I couldn't tip on my credit card (I just so happen to always pay cash previously and always had more than enough to tip) and I couldn't take cash out via an atm with it. I was able to my credit card to pay for my services but I was unable to tip in cash. As a result, the lady who was doing my nails told the man who did my toe nails that I couldn't tip either of them - publicly embarrassing me. Afterwards, she quickly finished my manicure without cleaning under my nails. I haven't forgotten this ill experience and thought I'd share especially for the others in the area. I live in the neighborhood and only go to this salon when my regular nail place is closed. I hate to admit it, but I have gone here many times but just out of sheer convenience (its the only place in my neighborhood open late). First, the nail technicians are terrible if you want anything more than a basic mani or pedi. When I had acrylics they made me bleed because of filing too hard AND my nails were filed crooked! When I went to my regular nail place, they were appalled at the state of my nails and told me to go and demand my money back. Thinking back, if I had more time, I would have. The next time, I had a gel manicure. While I liked the selection of colors, she made the gels way too thick and my nails look fake and sloppy - I didn't know you could mess up gels, to be honest, but Kim's managed to do it and I can't remember the technicians name. Finally, and perhaps THE WORST, is that the owner is not only RUDE but a CROOK. I got a deep tissue massage there, the cost is $88 and is clearly listed as such on the huge price board behind the front desk. Mr. Kim (or whoever he is) charged my credit card $165!!! I almost signed the receipt until I looked and saw what he had done and immediately complained. He said the technician "told him the wrong thing"... yeah, right, they all look scared of him. Then, another time, I got just a pedicure, which is $22 and he charged me $23 and claimed it was tax, but the price board behind him says $22 - screw this CROOK! So, I thought, this is a great opportunity to experience a new nail salon & up my YELP game. Anyway, I'm a college student and I had a nail technician background. I came in for an acrylic fill-in & my nail shape is stiletto/ claws. I came in in a cheerful mood that my babies were gonna get taken care of. I wanted my claws shorter but still as sharp and ON POINT. I was very disappointed. The man that was doing my nails was a man with the age of 50 and I asked him politely for a stiletto nail. The way he was doing them was lengthy (time wise) and being completely bias, unprofessional and should not be handed a nail certificate if I was his teacher. My nails were butchered! They looked like bullets rather than cat claws. No hand massages (when this spa charges so much for spas and "special massages") He wanted to charge me $21. I did. But would I have told him no? ABSOLUTELY. FYI, we pay nail salons because of a job well done they do to our nails and the customer service provided. I was gonna leave him the moment how I saw my nails were filed a $2 bill. I'm appalled. I have never experienced this type of nail service before. Also, the way he was painted my nails...... LORD. Learn some 3 stripes, please!! And I have had acrylics before in my life, the intense filing and lack of care for my nail health was the culprit here. Also, your customers time is important. This business has improved a lot under the new management. They have a wide selection of beauty services and now a reward points program. Sunny gives great facials. Your face will look amazing and feel baby soft. Frida always does a nice job w/ my eyebrows and lip waxing. I think the prices are fair. I called this location at 9pm to see if the hours they put online were correct. The young man who answered the phone told me they close at 11pm. I am a college student who doesn't have a car so I have to take the bus. Before I got in the bus I called the store again to make sure they would service me if I arrived at 10:20pm. After being put on hold for 2 mins I was told yes. When I arrived at the establishment no one greeted me. I asked for a full set was told no. I explained that I called before coming and expected to serviced. There was 40 mins to perform the service and I was only missing 2 nails but was willing to pay for a full set. The owner came and called the police on me. Because she didn't want to make good on the commitment that an employee made on the phone. I literally went home in tears and wasted my whole night. When I first came to Queens, this was the only place a good friend and I would go. Although they are usually polite, and their services (I've gotten manicures, acrylic tips/fills, pedicures, and eyebrow threading) are pretty good, they are horribly over priced. They pretend like the 24$ mani/pedi on M-W is a special, but you can go nextdoor to a not as fancy place and get the same quality/possibly better quality mani/pedi for 15$ or go down to Francis Lewis Blvd for 13$ and my new fav nail place. I have gone in there when it is practically empty, with employees just sitting around and waited over an hour for just getting my eye brows threaded. Once I waited over an hour and then was told I would have to come back. I was extremely annoyed, but they didn't think it was at all a problem. I apologize in advance for this lengthy review. But, this must be reported. I understand that some people are complaining of the prices of this salon. Honestly, the prices were average and not overly pricey. I am the type of person that is willing to pay above average prices for good quality & beautiful work. However, that is NOT what I received when I came here. I am not from the area where the salon is. I was unable to travel to the area of my regular salon to get my acrylic refills done. I had an event the next morning, and wanted them done fresh. So, I decided to try this salon out. The place is beautifully decorated and looks welcoming. I was greeted kindly at the door. I asked if they offered nail designs. She said that they could paint whatever design I wanted. I was seated with a nail technician, who began to criticize the nail art that I had on my nails. It had a beautiful floral airbrush design that she said was not nice & "too busy" for her taste. (Why does she have to tell me her opinion about someone else's work that I loved?) She was very rough in her filing in doing my refill. She dug into the cuticles of half of my fingers to the point where a few of them were bleeding. She filed the edges of them crooked. I told her I wanted them to be squared. She kept saying that she liked them rounded. (I thought I was the customer? ) Then, I showed her a picture of how I wanted them painted, just a french paint design with nail art of a little daisy flower on top. She said that she wouldn't do it because she thought it would look "tacky" and believed that just a silver line above the white color looked prettier. If she didn't know how to do it, she should have just said so. Personally, I think she was just too lazy to do it. It's not like it was busy at that time. I was informed that they could do this. What is the problem? Then, she tells me that if she does do it, "it will be too expensive." What is considered too expensive for me to pay... is for me to decide not her. I came in with an airbrush design on each nail -- clearly I am accustomed to the fact that any nail art would cost extra. Isn't this a business? Shouldn't you try to give the customer what they want, especially if it is a service that you're supposed to be able to provide? That's the idea of "Up-selling." I am the customer, NOT HER! After deciding to only have the french design, no nail art, I left feeling completely dissatisfied with sore fingers from her filing. TWO whole days later the acrylic was already lifting! I tried adding nail glue to keep them from coming off until I could get to my regular salon. On day FOUR, a fungus had started to form under one of the nails. NEVER, NEVER have I had this happen to me in all of the years that I've been getting my nails done!!! I had to have to regular salon completely remove everything. Horrible customer service by the nail tech, poor work on my nails, cheap products, and who knows if her tools were actually clean = these are all enough to prevent me from ever going here again & to make me willing to talk anyone else out of going there either! I normally get a regular French manicure there. I had no idea my nails would turn out to be a mess the day I pulled off my tips myself and chose to get them done. They were unaware of this and rushed into doing my nails without first repairing them before doing a French. It usually takes half an hour, but it took nearly three hours this time. This is due to the fact that the person who did them was rushed and had to leave their shift, which meant that someone else had to come in and correct roughly 6 of my nails. The rest weren't even excellent, but I was trying to be nice. Even though they didn't deserve it, I offered the first worker a gratuity before they went. They should have checked to see if my nails were permissible before getting them done, and if they were, they should have done it professionally rather than hastily. This resulted in frequent issues and a dreadful outcome for my usual French manicure. It wasn't natural because it was bubbling, scaly, and uneven. $29 for a mani/pedi in Fresh Meadows? Are you kidding me? This isn't the city, it's QUEENS. The lady, Ellie, that worked on me did not know any English at all. I wanted to test out two different colors on my toes and pick out one color but she kept interpreting it as I wanted two different colors for each coat. She removed the polish but never bothered to reapply the base coat. Then there was a confusion with credit cards. The owner gave me another customer's credit card and vice versa, but my card was charged $29 (my bill) and $40.50 (someone else's bill). The receipt with my name with the $40.50 charge was given to the other customer to sign. I kept telling the owner that he mistakenly charged my card with someone else's bill and he wouldn't believe it. The other customer actually got up and showed him that he had made a mistake. Finally, I tipped Ellie $4 in singles right before she applied my nail polish. I was her last customer for the day so she rushed through everything. She COUNTED the tip right in front of my face. Then she asked for a 20% tip!!!! Now, I don't know about anyone else, but I find it extremely rude to count the tip in front of a customer then proceed to demand a higher tip. I don't have anymore singles and she offered to give me change. WOW....just WOW. Last time I checked tipping is up to the customer's discretion. NEVER, EVER will I come back to place. read more

I have been coming here for almost 10 years. This place is awesome. They remodeled the place about two years ago. Its so chic now. Peter is the best for massage, pedicure and manicure. Frida is great for threading. They have a great special for gel manicure for the time being. I am only giving them 4 stars because although I don't mind pay the prices because the service is good. This is not one of those cheap nail places if thats what you are looking for. They do have monday thru wednesday specials that makes the cost comparable to other lower priced salons. But their regular rates are a bit up there. The massage chairs are awesome! They give an excellent massage those chairs. Its included with your pedicure if you don't want to spend extra on a massage. It has a 10 minute cycle but they will turn it on for you again once its done if you like. If you make an appointment they are really good about taking you as soon as you walk in the door without a wait. There is a wait without appointment during peak times. But in general there isnt one off peak times since the place is huge. They offer everything from waxing to facials. The best thing about this place is that they are open late - 10pm during the week. They get two stars because all of the staff in there are disgustingly rude except for Maya. She takes her time while doing your nails and makes you feel comfortable whereas the other staff will finish your mani/pedi in 10 minutes leaving you with crooked nails that will without a doubt chip 5 minutes after you walk out the door. I love Maya! Like I said she takes her time with each of her clients and fills you in on the specials of the day. (Sun-Wed, mani/pedi are 28 bucks I think.) Place is nice to look at, most of the time its clean, I'm noticing they aren't sterilizing the tools like they use to before which is a little annoying but I can't find another nail lady like Maya =) read more

So I have a regular salon that I go to how ever they aren't open that late and I get off late from work . I was in desperate need of a fill in and while at work one of my tips came off .No way was I gonna be walking around with a missing nail on one hand waiting for my day off to get them done I found this salon which is open late 10pm The board behind the front desk says one price I believe $25 for a fill in which at my regular salon I pay $17 for a fill in $25 would be a fresh set . When they nail tech noticed I had gel nail polish she said it's $10 more to remove it the salon I go to never charged me to remove it so I'm already annoyed because how is it $10 to remove it but free if I get gel nail polish again . They didn't use any nail Drill to shape the nail she was there for an hour with one nail file filling off the damn polish . They used a different kind of powder dipping acrylic I told her my index finger looks like it doesn't have enough acrylic she says oh that's how it looks no worry and just continued to file . When she came to the finger that had a missing nail she said oh this is 5.00 more for the missing nail seriously $5.00 just to glue on a tip for one nail . For my fill in and gel nail polish came out to $53 I had never spent that much on my nails before my hair didn't even that much to get done . My nails have always been $20 at the places I go to and they last me 3 weeks no chipping and no lifting of the acrylic after paying $53 I was so upset after 1 week the index finger nail I told her about when she brought the receipt for me to sign she's ready to say this doesn't include tip you have to give too cash .
