We brought our two Maine Coon cats in for grooming yesterday and felt compelled to share our experience so others can make an informed decision, especially cat owners. For context, we typically only bring our cats in about once a year when their winter coats begin to shed. Because of this, it's especially important that the grooming is done thoroughly and by someone experienced. We had previously been loyal clients of Kim, who consistently handled our cats with efficiency and care. Grooming is very stressful for them, so finding someone capable and experienced was extremely important to us. With Kim, we could always count on a full, thorough service: bathing, drying, shaving where needed, knot removal, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and sanitary care. That level of care is why we were willing to travel and pay a premium. When we arrived this time, we were surprised to learn the business was under new ownership. We decided to give it a chance. We dropped our cats off at 9:00 AM as the first appointment of the day and were told the process would take approximately 3 hours, which we were completely fine with. Around 11:20 AM, we received a brief call asking if one of our cats should be shaved. We were told they would use their judgment, and that was the only communication we received. By 1:00 PM (now 4 hours later), we returned to check in. What we found was extremely concerning: * One cat had reportedly urinated out of stress and, according to staff, nothing beyond a basic cage bath had been done. * We were also told at that point by Donna that she was uncomfortable handling him and that he would need to be sedated for grooming in the future. This was alarming to hear, as this has never been an issue in the past, he was always successfully groomed by Kim without sedation. * The other cat was still in the process of drying after only being bathed. * Neither cat had received any of the grooming services we came in for (no haircut, no knot removal, no nail trimming, no ear cleaning, etc.). * One of our cats was left drying in a cage next to a continuously barking dog, despite other quieter, more isolated spaces being available. * Both cats were visibly terrified. There had been no proactive communication to inform us of any issues, delays, or inability to complete the grooming. After over four hours, essentially no meaningful grooming had been performed. While Donna was polite, it was clear that she was uncomfortable explaining the situation. Only after we arrived did they begin attempting to brush one of our cats, which raised concerns about whether anything would have been addressed had we not shown up when we did. We ultimately left with two cats who were still matted, unkempt, and significantly more distressed than when we dropped them off. Our main concern is not just that the grooming wasn't completed; it's the lack of communication and the apparent inability to handle cats in a setting that claims to offer those services. Based on this experience, the facility does not appear properly equipped or experienced in feline grooming. We were offered complimentary future services, but unfortunately, this experience has completely eroded our trust. No incentive would make us feel comfortable returning. If you are a cat owner, especially with breeds that require specialized grooming, I would strongly recommend asking detailed questions about experience and process before booking here. read more

I don't like to post bad reviews generally because they can sound petty. I feel that I have to in this case. We brought out 21yr old cat here to be shaved so she could wear a diaper and be cleaned more easily. She was cut. Old skin is very friable and I wasn't concerned at first because I was told that it was glued together and I wasn't informed that it was a deep or serious cut. Unfortunately, the glue just stuck together the blood and did not close the skin at all. It was a gaping wound the size of a nickel and it was obscured by the dried blood so it took a few days to realize what was there. I should have been informed to take her immediately to the vet. I thought it was a little scratch. On day 5 she saw the vet and it is infected. At her advanced age, she may die. In addition, my dog was groomed pretty badly. I asked for "not too short" and that was translated to the groomer as "extremely short". So now my dog looks ugly and my cat is probably dying. If it were just the dog, I wouldn't ever have said anything, but I feel that the lack of transparency in the severity of the injury to my cat shows bad judgment and I don't recommend anyone bring an elderly animal here. read more

It was absolutely the best grooming experience our pup has ever had! Better than any of the fancy (and pricy) pet spas we've been to in Manhattan. Kim saved my cat! My cat caught a nasty case of the fleas and I was shocked to learn that basically nobody can groom a cat around here, especially one with fleas. The groomers were pointing me to the vet, and the vet insisted a groomer would help. I even resorted to trying to flea-bathe kitten myself...to little avail, it was borderline traumatic for both kitten and myself. So I yelped for help - thank you fellow yelpers for recommending kimberly's , not only do they groom cats, but they do flea baths too. Total flea bath includes washing the body, head, ears nose and mouth, nails, and they make the cat look sexy in the end for $60. My cat was so infested w fleas that they were up her nose and in her ears, and Kim dug them all out and made sure there were no survivors. Kim and vinny are true animal lovers, you can tell, and that makes all the difference. I've never seen my cat so happy and relieved, and I can't thank Kim enough for helping me because I'm doubtful anyone else would have helped to that capacity! They even gave me flea solution recommendations and talked to me for a little bit, made me feel so much better about the entire situation. I can't thank kimberly's enough for helping my cat. To hear of a story that this individual wrote takes me back a little bit to when customers seem to think they own the business. Obviously it seems to me that she can't read when it says the business is closed, yet Kim seemed to go out of her way to say it was not a problem to take care of her cat. In addition, the review about cutting the dog's ear is quite farce. That was actually another Salon in another part of town which had nothing to do with her. That I know as a fact! This place is so awesome, and Kim has a magic touch. My pup, Bruno, is a recue that doesn't like dogs and doesn't like new people. I was equally worried about Kim's fingers as I was about Bruno. He was shaking, whining, and throwing up on the whole way there and once at the groomers, he was violent and barking at the other dogs and people. But not only was he gorgeous when we picked him up, he was SO CALM and at ease! Kim did a wonderful job all around. And as far as the rabies proof, we didn't even get that far because I had already decided I wasn't letting you touch my cat. You claim you've never received a negative review. Well let me refresh your memory. On 2/5/19, Brittany O stated you cut her dogs ears so terribly that he was bleeding. She advised people to not take their pets to you. On 10/3/17, Samantha P. was unsatisfied with the lopsided haircut you gave her dog and the fact you didn't tell her you close at 2PM on certain days. Then there was Syke K, who on 6/22/17 said 2 of her dog's nails bled into their fur. My favorite negative review about you and your establishment was from 9/10/13, where Jamie N. said she dropped her dog off at 11AM and by 6:35PM he still was not ready. Your reply was that you are not a dry cleaners. Jamie called out your lack of class and customer service and said you must be smoking more than cigarettes. We can go back and forth with this as long as you want, Kimberly, because the bottom line is you should not have told me I did not have an appointment in the nasty, unprofessional tone you did. Any smart business person would have apologized for the scheduling miscommunication.
