I first called Adam Gurley after being served with divorce papers on Valentine's Day, which I can…read moreonly assume was my ex's idea of a parting gift. From that first conversation, Adam was steady, sharp, and reassuring, and he has been ever since. If you're looking for a family law attorney in San Francisco, he's the call to make. What stands out most is his integrity. Adam tells you the truth and gives you advice you can actually trust. He leaves you feeling looked after rather than worked over. He also knows this world cold. He's seasoned and genuinely fluent in the local courts, the process, and the people in it, and it shows. Even when the other side gets aggressive, Adam stays calm and clear-eyed, translating all the legalese into plain, practical guidance you can act on. He's responsive, reachable, and steady exactly when you need someone steady, which, in a divorce, is roughly always. Just as important, he's consistent. His guidance never wavered, and he followed through, start to finish. He treats clients like people, not case numbers, or billable hours, and he clearly cares about how things turn out. I always trusted that his advice was in my genuine interest. I can't recommend Adam highly enough. If you want someone exceptionally competent, ethical, reasonable, and genuinely on your side, call him. Preferably or hopefully not on Valentine's Day.

Time went by and my divorce never got finalized, my ex husband is scamming me, using my soc sec number. I call Adam and all the dude lawyer did was insult me, telling me, (oh it's only a few thousand let it go) when all i really needed was help with the rest of my divorce. Im sorry but this dude is an @$$hole and then he tells me, oh it's going to be difficult to get a divorce now. Mind you im just a woman (human being) try ing to get help for myself to divorce my husband and all this jerk did was insult me and say bye. What kind of person acts like that? He couldn't even remember me. I dont care how many people think he's so great, as far as im concerned he in asshole in my eyes. And I dont care if he like my saying so or not. Screw him, never will I ever recommend this man for anything. He's a prick lawyer who thinks his $#!t doesnt stink. Pompous creep

She is personable, professional, calm, knowable and realistic. She does not make any promises but ensured you are taking the best steps to win the case. There are lots of attorneys in the Bay Area. However Ellen is definitely the most experienced and knowable dealing with county and city government. I would definitely hired her again.

Ms. Mendelson returned my call, but the conversation lasted only a few minutes and did not feel like a meaningful conversation. This was the first employment lawyer I contacted after dealing with the underlying work situation for years. I was hoping for clarity and an outside perspective after feeling that I had experienced a great deal of unfairness. Instead, I left the call feeling that I was met with more unkindness from someone outside of the situation. I was trying to explain that my matter involved several connected concerns and required context. Before many questions were asked or the details could be fully explained, I felt the conversation moved quickly toward a conclusion that my employer had broad authority to direct the work. I understand that attorneys may need documents and additional information before offering legal advice. However, I had hoped for a more curious and balanced initial conversation, with questions asked before conclusions were reached. I did not feel heard or that there was enough space to explain the relevant facts. This may not have been the right fit for my situation, but I hope future prospective clients seeking an initial consultation receive more time to explain their concerns and a clearer sense of whether the office is able to help. And for anyone who has a similarly discouraging first experience, I hope you do not let it stop you from continuing to seek the clarity, support, and fair hearing you deserve. Please see photos for further information and response after Ellen's response to my review above. Thank you. **P.S.** Ellen, I never asked you to work for free. I contacted you seeking a **paid consultation** to determine whether you were the right attorney for my matter. Characterizing that as me asking for free legal work is simply inaccurate and malicious behaviour.

My sister, who works in the Civil…read moreSection of the Sheriff's Office, spoke highly of Attorney Bornstein and his team's high volume of successful eviction cases. Unfortunately, I let the negative reviews in here influence my decision and hired another attorney instead and it cost us valuable time. What immediately stood out to us was Bornstein Law's transparency. Their terms and fees are clearly listed on their website. That was a big relief after the other attorney was trying to get us to sign with their firm and start an eviction over a small issue (Bornstein Law's fees are more affordable vs the other attorney we talked to). During our consultation, we didn't have to spend a long time explaining every detail of our situation and Attorney Bornstein had already identified the issue and presented several options to resolve our tenant issue. He was direct, practical, and didn't sugarcoat anything. I can see how some people might interpret that as feeling unheard, but in our case, we appreciated his efficiency. He was also considerate enough to recommend options that would cost us less because our matter was not an eviction case. After the call, I realized why some reviews mention communication issues. At the end of our consultation, he accidentally placed us on hold, apparently thinking the call had already ended. Should we be upset about it? Maybe. But compared to finally having a clear path forward for our tenant issue, it felt like a minor mistake. We left the consultation relieved and confident about our next steps.

They are prompt in responding to questions and concerns with both phone and email correspondences. The staff know their legal material so well that Allison caught a discrepancy immediately from the documentation we provided with our case. Heck, I've observed them advocating for so many causes that affect the Asian and Pacific Islander population here in the SF Bay Area. I don't know how else to thank this organization. I was charged with major bodily harm, this was the lowest moment of my life. Mrs. Feigelson took my case, she dove into my history of alcoholism after leaving Afghanistan. She got to know me and strategized a legal defense that connected my service-related PTSD to the legal trouble I found myself in. Mrs. Feigelson fought for me to be transferred into Veterans Court. Her knowledge of the court system and thorough understanding of programs that are uniquely tailored to her clients let me have another chance at life. Without her help, I would have gotten that felony, I would have lost my future. She stood by me for over 2 years making court appearances on my behalf. She is more than a lawyer, she's someone who you can trust will do everything in her power to get you the best outcome. I can not describe the amount of esteem and admiration I have for her. I graduated from Veterans court; my entire DUI was taken off my criminal record and dismissed. Life will happen, and sometimes you end up somewhere you don't want to be. If you have a criminal case, especially a DUI Mrs. Feigelson is the lawyer you need. If I ever have any issues in the future she is the only lawyer I would consider hiring 10/10.
