I've been coming to this Kilwin's location in St. Joe with my family for years. It never disappoints. The ice cream is absolutely delicious. We arrived about 25 minutes to close with a line out the door. Despite this, the staff was warm and welcoming. The inside is a fun vibe with sweet smells. I got the chocolate chip cookie dough flavor on a cake cone. The portions are nice too. Highly recommend! read more

Always have great experiences at this store! Even though they close at 10, they don't kick people out even when they get in line at 10. They are fast and efficient. I got the turtle sundae, which was so delicious. It came in a waffle cup, choose your ice cream flavor, chocolate and caramel sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry. Just wish I could get a smaller version of the sundae, because it was really filling! read more

Chocolate toasted coconut is 100/10. Service is amazing and great veteran discount. So many flavors and other fun treats inside!

Wonderful ice cream shop in the quaint downtown. Staff is super professional and friendly. I had the Traverse City Cherry and Peanut Butter Chocolate in a cup. Delicious! I went to pay and I was totally surprised when they said my ice cream was free because I was a Veteran and I had my ball cap on. I am humbled by this gift and recognition of my fellow veterans. Thank you Kilwin's. read more

We first discovered kilwins when we were on vacation traveling through the state of michigan a few years ago. The first store we encountered was in St. Joseph, Michigan. Thinking that these stores were only native to Michigan, we purchased some of their delicious fudge. Lo and behold shortly after we returned to Chicago, we found out that there are several in Illinois including 5 in Chicago. read more

The smell draws you in from the outside. It is too good not to try, so we did. Fudge is great and they have made in-house waffle cones. Lots of ice cream flavors but the ingredients do have red die and artificial chemicals. The people were knowledgeable to help find a non-chemical ice cream so that was good service. read more

I don't think I have ever been to a Kilwin's (IL, FL, MI) that it wasn't a fantastic experience. I love that no matter which location you visit, the quality and taste of their candy and ice cream will remain the same, always great! I tried the cashew turtles this visit, as the pecan are my favorite, but I wanted to try something else. read more

My last visit here was unfortunately very upsetting. I found the staff to be very disrespectful and unwelcoming. Was refused service before i could even try to order because of my outfit. I saw multiple girls with tube tops on and she considered me as dressed inappropriately because of "health concerns" because they are viewed as a restaurant. However, i had just ate at the buck and it was of no concern to any staff. very disappointed. read more

I didn't even realize this was a chain but even so it was a good dessert place. Came here because someone in my group and a desire for ice cream. There was a great selection of ice cream to choose from and they even allowed samples! Ended up getting the cherry and pumpkin flavors (in two separate dishes). Highly recommend both! Also, ended up getting some boxed chocolates for some friends which they both enjoyed and recommend. Service was friendly and swift. No complaints. Recommend visiting for a nice dessert option. read more

The service was okay, I have never had a malt before and asked about what the consistency was and asked if it was like a blizzard. I was met with passive aggressive attitude. The cashier was really sweet and kind however. Upon metting the halfway of her malt, my girlfriend found a small metal ball (pictured). I would say avoid the malt. read more

I was visiting St. Joseph today and really was looking for a nice sweet treat. Kilwin's hit the spot, they're ice cream was delicious! There was a little bit of a line outside because they are only allowing about 10 customers in the store at a time. However, the line went by very fast and I was only waiting about 5 minute! The nice thing is that even though we have to wear our masks inside they still allow tastings. I tried the apple pie one and HOLY CRAP this is amazing ice cream!!! It has real chunks of pie crust and apples. I immediately had to order it. The ice cream was tasty, creamy, and really tasted like apple pie. If you're looking for some ice cream in st. Joseph, then you have to stop here!! read more

I love Kilwins and have been coming here for over 2 decades. With an abundance of flavor choices for ice cream and all the other treats, there are lots of decisions to make. Not only is their a variety of flavors for each type of treats there are lots of different types of treats. Between ice cream, fudge, caramel apples and the variety of chocolate treats, it really is hard to choose. When I came in a few days ago my husband got a 2 scoop of their moose tracks and I got 1 scoop of mint chocolate chip and one scoop of peppermint. The employees were very nice and were patient with us deciding. I will continue to come here as long as I live in the area. read more

Kilwin's has ginormous cones of ice cream and delicious slices of fudge (if that tickles your fancy). We got lured in by the BUY 2 SLICES, GET 1 FREE sandwich board. Not proud to say that fudge REALLY tickled my fancy because I ate 1/3 of a slice in one sitting. #RealTalk read more

Kilwin's is a pretty and quaint little sweet shoppe near the lake in St. Joseph. Definitely touristy, but also popular with locals, Kilwin's is the nicest sweet shoppe I have been to. Locally made creamy ice cream, fresh waffle cones, fine chocolates (creams, nut filled and more) to die for, and the absolute bestest fudge I have ever had. I realize "bestest" is not a word, but "best" didn't seem quite enough. It's not cheap, but sooo worth it for a treat. I don't know what to compare them to; they're considerably better than Godiva in my humble opinion. But then I'm not the chocolate expert my wife and daughters are... So I brought some chocolates and fudge home for them. One of my daughters had been to Macinac Island and had raved on and on about the fudge she had there. She was a bit skeptical at first about what I had brought home, but once she tasted it she exclaimed, "this is the REAL fudge!" It all was a huge hit. I will never again be able to travel within 100 miles of St. Joseph without bringing home some Kilwin's fudge. read more

Its hard to mess up ice cream. This place is cute but limited indoor seating. The workers are pleasant as well but inattentive; would suggest skipping this place for those with food allergies and sensitivities. The employee gave me the completely wrong ice cream which had peanut butter in it. I'm glad I bit into my ice cream and noticed before I decided to share. read more

In Cincinnati, we have Greaters ice cream. Benton Harbor, a beachside resort, has several homemade ice cream shops. This place was outstanding. You know how every once in awhile you put something in your mouth and you have that, "Oh my God", moment? This was one of those experiences. Based on my indecision and a tie-breaking assist by two of the ice cream Associates, I went with the Toasted Coconut. Instantly the tears welled up in my eyes and my mouth was treated to an amazing experience. I'm pretty sure I may have been quietly, but happily, sobbing while I was eating my ice cream. The only negative about Kilwin's is that everything that they have is a MUST HAVE and is amazing. Making a choice of what to have here is almost painful. And just when you think you've pushed the patience of the employees and the people in line, behind you, to the brink of a beating, you make your choice. But that feeling washes away when you hear that same foot tapping person behind you do the exact same, "I'll have.... ummm... what do I want?... ummm... I don't know what I waaannnnttt...." song and dance that you just wrapped up thirty seconds earlier. I, myself, chose wisely. Very wisely. And as I walked out of the shop, proud of my choice of what I had convinced myself was the very best choice possible, I spent the entire trip to the door muttering, "I should have had fudge! Look at that sundae! They have candy?!!? I didn't see that candy on the way in!! Is that a three foot log of freshly made Chocolate Sea Salt CarmelFfudge? I didn't even think that was possible. Why are they even cutting that thing into slices? I'll just take it like that...." All the way to the door. And just for those of you that are familiar with Greaters ice cream: Greaters offers their Coconut Chip flavor, which is fantastic. The Toasted Coconut here blows Greaters Coconut Chip right out of the water. I've never actually "missed" ice cream before. But I will miss Kilwin's and remember our afternoon together fondly, for many years to come. read more

I came here with the boy while we were camping in nearby Coloma. Thought the atmosphere was cute. First time, I got a scoop of strawberry chunk which was really good. Second time, I got toasted coconut, which the boy likened it to a Girl Scout Samoa Cookie! Both times he got a soda of lemon sorbet and raspberry? The first time was great because it was thick like a milkshake. The second time (with a new staffer), it was very liquidy. Overall, I would probably come back. But I do admit I kind of got sticker shock because a single scoop of ice cream on a cone/cup costs $5! They have other options available like fudge, chocolate covered marshmallows, candied apples, etc. But be prepared to shell out some serious money. read more

Half a block away the smell of waffle cones hits your nose. It is like heaven. I'm allergic, so no ice cream for me, but I'm regretting not just buying a waffle cone to eat! On to the good stuff--we tried the truffles and you won't be disappointed. They are rich, balanced, and the perfect bite. They also have classics like chocolate covered pretzels or crispy treats, licorice, and chocolate or caramel covered Oreos. The store is set up well and if you come at the right time can watch them make candy. Grab a seat and enjoy your treat on the patio! read more

My significant other and I love Kilwin's! We go to the flagship location every year around Thanksgiving to stock up on our favorite chocolate treats and to grab some gifts for the holiday season and we were thrilled to see a location in St. Joseph. We grabbed a double scoop of ice cream each and some treats from the case to take home with us this time. I got my favorite chocolate covered marshmallow on a stick and my significant other got chocolate covered Oreo cookies. We also got some milk chocolate sea foam which is hands down my #1 favorite treat from Kilwin's. I've had other sea foam and it just can't hold a candle to Kilwin's! We love their buckeyes, too, but they were sold out so we will have to wait until Thanksgiving to get those! We enjoyed our bonus visit here in St. Joseph and will be counting down the days until our annual trip to Petoskey to get fudge and more! read more

The staff here is always super friendly and I have yet to find anything here I do not like. I am not one who usually buys chocolate fruit creams but they are actually pretty good here. Ice cream is amazing, but expensive to buy in the quarts. Fudge is awesome. I got a caramel apple and the apple was soft and not crisp so that wasn't great. I wasn't happy having to toss a $7 apple. I will return for other things though. read more

We go to one in Florida, so I had a hunch it would be good. Well, it was! The ice cream is great. I had a sundae. And so refreshing to see positive inspirational and religious messages throughout the store. The staff are exceptional. The staff are friendly, customer service focused and pleasant. One team member, Austin, really impressed me. A police officer, who had his bike helmet on, came to the store to buy some fudge.. this employee told the customer.."I see you are riding your bike..let me pack this order up so it is easier for you to transport.".
