Kilwins is definitely "vacation food" to me - They have them all over the state and I think the last one I went to was in Saugatuck. We found ourselves in Boyne City last night and bought some stuff from here, actually not even knowing that Petoskey is the OG location (going there today). I bought two half slices of fudge, a thing of pecan pralines covered in chocolate, and a dinosaur-shaped chocolate peanut butter concoction. Because I was buying fudge I was able to skip the line and purchase over on the side counter, and the lady who helped me was super nice. I haven't tried any of the chocolate yet but Kilwins is always really good. A little expensive, but good. This location also has a few tables and benches outside too to sit at and it's open until 11:00 p.m. on the weekends. read more

I'm having an affair. We meet a couple of days each week at the corner of Lake and Water streets in Boyne. My wife tags along pretty much every time. HUH???? It's not a person. It's Kilwins old fashioned candy shop. Home of chocolate decadence. Now if we can just keep it from Dr. Abdul. You might have thought it's the ladies at this location. It makes sense. They're adorable and fun to talk to. Nobody makes you feel more welcome in their store. But alas, I'm afraid it's the high quality chocolate. It's in the candies, the confections, the fudge and of course their homemade ice cream. What a fun place to "cheat" on one's diet! While I've never walked out of here with something non-chocolate, Mrs. E. does so every visit. Today it was coconut ice cream. Proof that it's much more than just top shelf chocolate. We got the cappuccino chocolate chip and strawberry burst ice cream flavors. The cappuccino chocolate chip was so good. My sister felt like it wasn't very "coffee-y," but it was a perfect balance between coffee and chocolate. read more

Wow- we came here after dinner down the street for a cone to enjoy while watching a beautiful sunset in the park across the street. What a delightful surprise: this must be the highest butterfat ice cream in the world, so it's the creamiest and tastiest! Both of us loved the sea salt caramel. But Kulwin's also sells candy that they've made in their own factory in Petosky, and it's also excellent. Be sure to sample EACH location! read more

Its location is in downtown boyne city... The shop s a nice cozy place Wher there s a huge variety of fudges, apples (caramel ,chocolate etc) . They have a huge variety of original ice cream recipe options... The salesperson was very friendly... Their single portions is hugeee the ice cream was fresh and very creamy .. It tasted yum.... Kilwin's is a chain shop with ice cream, fudge and other candies. I had a single cappuccino chocolate chip waffle cone that was big enough to share. It was delicious and enjoyed walking through downtown Boyne City and along the waterfront. Kilwin's is definitely worth a stop to satisfy your sweet tooth. read more

Yummy to my tummy. We had the sea salt and caramel fudge. When you walk in you smell waffles or chocolate. We went back for another slice after the first one was eaten and the nice lady at the counter told us we can buy one and have the second for free. My favorite word free...! What a treat. The fudge is sweat but not too sweat at the same time. We came here for vacation and we want to take some home (and by some I mean 4 pieces), not that it is going to last long. We had 8 people and the fudge disappeared in less than 15 minutes. This is the best fudge I have ever had!!!!!!!!! The hot chocolate that the sell there is amazing. It is not powder. It is chocolate shavings. You have to boil milk add the hot cocoa shavings. It is also really good just putting the chocolate straight into your mouth. I love this place soooooo much and I wish that the business was in different places or that it could be delivered. It is truly worth 5 stars. read more

bad service from blond kilwins coworker 15 min in line get to the counter instead of saying hi or anything she says party of 9 and laugh. Would have never got in line if I knew i had 30 people in front of me instead of 20 and other coworkers had backs turned. Also time before my kid drop ice cream on ground and had to buy a second one 5 min. later told coworker also no responce but one out of the three time had good service from gentlemen workers. also white choclate almond bark in boxes cream color one box white which one out dated? I came into the store to pick up a few pieces of candy for my 3 year old to have on our long ride back to Indiana. After picking out our candy, we got into the line behind a group of people ordering shakes. After they were all served and paid (about 5 minutes), my son and I were happily at the front of the line and placed our candies on the counter and waited to be checkout....and waited...and waited. Apparently all of the staff for had better things to do. One lady was making fudge (understandable), two were walking around behind the counter, and another was scooping ice cream on the other side of the counter. NOBODY acknowledged us. I looked at the clock (2:00 on the dot). I heard two of the ladies say that someone needed to ring me up, but nobody did. And nobody said anything to me, and they avoided all eye contact. In the mean time a few people got in line behind me. I waited longer.... I'm pretty patient, but this was getting ridiculous. At 2:05 I had enough and told my 3 year old he had to leave his candy behind because nobody was helping us. Now everyone can imagine how this turned out... he had a meltdown. I told him we couldn't stay because they have terrible customer service. At least with the meltdown the staff maybe realized that they should step up their customer service skills! I walked out and went to the other candy store down the street. My money went farther there anyway. Just for clarification, I understand that they were busy with making fudge and doing other things behind the counter, but just say HELLO to your customers! If they said it would be awhile, I would have understood and waited patiently. Being ignored is horrible. read more

Horrible Customer Service. We were there on August 8, 2017 and I have not ever witnessed more rude people behind a counter. One of the employees Drew was being so nasty that he destroyed my credit card while swiping it into the credit card machine. (Seriously swiping so hard that my credit card broke into pieces). Kathy also an employee was even nastier about the situation. I attempted to contact Gale (the owner) she called back once and we never connected, but did not attempt to resolve any of this. It is really great when these type of employees destroy your credit card when you are on vacation. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible stay away from these people. read more

Overpriced and tourist trap in a small town. We were there for the Fourth of July and stopped in for ice cream but the prices were off the charts for their nothing special stuff - you can find the same stuff at any Kilwins in the country. The next night we went down the street to the Alpine Chocolate Haus and were very impressed with their handmade products and very friendly staff. Kilwins was expensive and stuffy - this place was not. Sorry Kilwins but now we know why your line was so short and their line was wrapped around in their store and down the street. We have been loyal Kilwins customers for years but not any longer when in Boyne City - sorry. read more
