Slow and poor service. Takes too long for small repairs and has poor phone service. Might as well go to Rutland is you can

Locked my keys in the car... it took them like 2 minutes literally, to unlock the car!

a lot better…read more. HOLMES ONE STOP AUTO SHOP - A REVIEW PART 1: WHAT HAPPENED? Driving north on Rte 93 from Boston to Woodstock, VT for a family wedding, I noticed that the temperature gauge on my car had suddenly leapt to Hot, and smoke was pouring out. I pulled over and called AAA. After looking it over, the driver said he couldn't repair it. We were 65 miles from Woodstock, and he towed it all the way. In Woodstock, he stopped at Holmes One Stop Auto Shop. And there we left my car with a note. The next day, I talked to Mike from Holmes, who said the car couldn't be fixed; I'd have to install a new engine which they could do, or I could just leave it there. I called Mike a couple of weeks later, to ask him to put in a new engine. He said okay, and that it it would take several weeks. The day it was to be ready, I traveled back to Woodstock, arriving at Holmes at the agreed upon time. But it wasn't ready. The owner, Jason, said to come back in 3 or 4 hours. "You'll have to stay the night and pick it up on Saturday," were Jason's first words when I got there. I was stunned. After all the weeks they'd had to do the work on my car, it wasn't ready and they were willing to leave their customer stuck with no car and nowhere to stay late on a Friday afternoon?? Then he added that the problem with my car wasn't serious. The part they were waiting for was just a "little $5.95 Ambient Temp Sensor with 3 (not 2) prongs" that would arrive the next day. He said I could have someone at home install it, and offered to take me for a drive to show me the problem and how to handle it. Driving up and down the country road in front of their shop, It didn't seem like a big problem. I decided to drive it home. As I paid them the $5700 for the new engine, I was pleased to see there was a warranty on parts and labor, too. Driving home was very different from the little back road ride with Jason. On a highway with higher speeds and a lot of other cars, i stayed in the right lane. My car would slow down, speed up, slow down, over and over; I tried to do as Jason had said,"stay at an even speed," but in the "slow" right lane cars behind me honked for me to speed up, and some just zoomed around me. It was a long and fraught trip back to Massachusetts. At home that night I dropped it off at our local filling/auto repair station, with a note to C and M, the mechanics, about the necessary part. PART 2: TROUBLE: The next day one of the two mechanics, M, called to tell me that he couldn't find a "3-pronged Ambient Temp Sensor" at any of their suppliers. I did a search, too, and called, or drove from dealer to dealer; no one had it. I saw one for $45.00 online and ordered it, specifying "3 pronged". It arrived with 2 prongs. I returned it. I called, texted and emailed Mike and Jason several times over the next week, to ask for the correct part number or to simply send me the My calls for help with the car part evolved into calls about the warranty. Mike answered one day to tell me that they, Holmes One Stop Auto Shop, had to do the repairs for repairs/parts to be covered under the warranty. I reminded him he'd sent me home in a car that wasn't completely repaired, and they'd told me my mechanic could do it. Did that invalidate my warranty? He said he'd call my mechanics the next day and I gave him the number. HE NEVER CALLED THEM. Jason was always busy--never took calls, from me, anyway, no matter how I tried to reach him. He had texted me several times with "sales promo messages" about things like, I should make an appointment to come in for an oil change, or to tell me how happy he was that my car was running smoothly. In sum, my calls to Holmes Auto shop were completely ignored. -REPAIRS HERE AT HOME: Finally, after $550 more repairs here at home, through the persistence of my two mechanics, C and M, my $5700 "new" old engine was running smoothly! PART 3: SHOULD I WRITE A REVIEW? Why am I writing a Review of Holmes One Stop Auto Shop in Woodstock, VT? A friend who owns an auto repair shop in another state tells me, "What Jason and Mike have been doing is commonplace in the field of auto repair. Happens all the time! You'll never hear from them. You just have to take your losses and let it go!" His wife added, "But write a review! They may respond when they see it". So, I wrote a review. Online Holmes One Stop Auto Shop seems to have a near-perfect stack of 5-star reviews praising them for their service, expertise, how they go above and beyond to help their customers who Do they ignore only non-locals, I wonder... If my friend, the auto repair shop owner, is right, Holmes must have enough compadres in New England also using this avoidance trick to know that it works, at least on people they don't know. Let my review be a warning: Think twice before you make a stop at Holmes One-Stop Auto Shop if you don't live in the area. Candy F.
