We were up in the Okemo area from NYC and by virtue of the combined stupidity of my decision making and GPS I ended up on a small snow covered road. I will spare you the inconsequential details but I got stuck in a ditch. While the effort of Killing Auto was not discount, not one dollar of it was regrettable. Corey and Dana worked very hard and safely and meticulously to get my car out a) to my amazement and pleasure and b) without damaging a hair on the car or their equipment. They worked tirelessly in snow, in snow banks, in a brook and while largely being reassuring and. Not chastising me for one of the closest Michael Scott driving moments of my life. If you ever have the opportunity to test this theory, I strongly recommend you plow your car into a snow bank so you too might have the same positive experience of working with these fine folks when you have no other option and are 300 miles from your home and fronds!!! read more

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO TO THEM AT ALL!! They will try very hard to get as much money as they can from you and delay fixing your car as long as possible so you'll have to pay even more to rush for NO REASON! We decided to visit Vermont for a few days and on the way there, our car had issues on a Friday night, so we went to their shop Saturday morning and then Sheila the 'owner' of the garage who also said it wasn't an auto repair shop when it CLEARLY states it on their yelp page so Sheila you should update that before giving people the wrong idea. Anyways, we dropped off the car in the lot Saturday morning because Sheila told us to , so the mechanic can look at it 'if' they come to take a look and will update us. Later that day, they told us that the mechanic won't be in until Sunday. They examined it Sunday morning and apparently charge $95 an hour for labor but all they've done is a diagnostic which apparently took 2-3 hrs which is ridiculous! The diagnostic fee should be 1 flat rate and after speaking to Sheila on the phone, simply wanting to know some answers about the situation, Sheila rudely hung up before finishing answering my questions -- she was extremely unprofessional and rude! Even if you are annoyed , we only wanted answers & we were not being rude and just wanted to know the status and price, WHICH ANYONE WOULD DO, you cannot just hang up on a paying customer! Sunday afternoon, the mechanic called and told us that he will need to get the parts which is understandable since a couple others said the same thing BUT he wasn't going to get the parts until Monday morning! Also, the garage is very shady, Sheila starts telling me that they aren't an auto repair shop -- you have a big sign outside your garage that says Auto Repair, your business card says Auto Repair, you have a lot with cars and men working on cars...if you're not an auto repair shop then what are you?? On Monday morning, my friends and I physically went to the garage to see what's going on , the head mechanic said he found a ton of problems and would take at least a week to get fixed BUT knowing mechanics and since we weren't from Vermont , it would have been easy for them to cause problems or tack on more cash to leave it there to fix the car so we decided to just tow the car with a u haul truck back to NYC because the garage spent 3 days 'inspecting' and charged $300+ and didn't even fix it! They got the new parts and put them in for us but after we hauled it back to NYC, it wouldn't turn on! They bought the parts but didn't actually fix it! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RISK GOING HERE! I know it's hard because there aren't that many auto repair shops around but it's better to find a decent one that's further out than go here! They have low ratings for a reason! Do not trust them!! After a day of skiing I came back to my car to discover it would not start and the battery appeared to be dead. Fortunately I have a battery jumper in my trunk and was able to get it going, but I was nervous to turn it off again so when I saw the sign for Killington Auto on the access road I stopped in to see if they could take a look. The mechanic on duty (Dana) agreed to help after he was done with the car he was working on, in about 20 minutes. I was expecting to need a new battery, and would have paid for one without complaint. However, before going that route Dana checked my existing battery and said it was still good. He then cleaned off the terminals and reattached the cables and the car started as normal. I was very pleasantly surprised, and even more so when he said there would be no charge (I'm from New Jersey so naturally I gave him a tip)! If you have car trouble on the mountain, stop by for an honest opinion. Thanks guys! read more

These folks are amazing!!! Thank you all so much for your help. What a way to start a family vacation. Saturday evening driving to Killington and 30 minutes outside of destination car indicates that charging system needs to be checked. Not a good thing. Plans to leave for Maine (7 hrs away) in the morning were now in jeopardy until potentially Monday. Never mind trying to head home (9 hrs away). So once we reached our BnB a call was made to Killingtom Auto and they came over in 5 min. 20 min and several calls later they had a plan. Alternator was replaced before midnight. Family trip was back on without delay. Everyone was super helpful and friendly. You guys rock. Wish I had you back in DC. You would get all of my business. read more

I saw a few bad reviews from a couple of years ago but these guys are great. I was coming up from New York for President's Day weekend and my truck started running rough and losing power about 15 miles outside of Killington. I called their towing number on Sunday to see if there was a chance they would be open on Monday. I dropped my truck off at 9am and they took a look at it and determined I needed new ignition coils and spark plugs. They had the ignition coils shipped here from Rutland and had my truck ready by 1pm, all on a holiday which is unheard of when it comes to auto repair shops. We live part time in Killington. We had a wonderful experience with Killington Auto. Our SUV got a flat tire. We bought a replacement in Rutland. Killington Auto promptly came to our house, took the deflated tire off the SUV and took both tires to their shop where they mounted and balanced the new tire. They then returned to our house and put the new tire on the SUV. The charge for all of this was under $100 which was very reasonable. read more

On Sat afternoon this past w/e, my wife and 2 lady friends toured Thundering Brook road for a little sightseeing. Beautiful area, views south back to Killington across a frozen lake. Extremely windy day Sat, very overblown snow conditions on the road. When turning around our 2015 Ford Expedition, my wife the driver inadvertently had the front wheel and driver's side of the car caught up in snow, eventually coming to a 90 degree angle sideways to the road with no way out. Matt from Killington Auto arrived in about an hour, and painstakingly attempted two/three manuevers to pull the car out. He did so safely, professionally, and was a total gentleman. Quite proficient at what I thought was going to be disastrous. Price was more than reasonable. Highly recommend them to anyone for Towing Services up there. read more

The owner of this garage posed as a PRIVATE seller of a 1989 Volvo 240 DL on Craigslist, said it had brakes redone, and said it was in very good condition. I went down there to check out this "fabulous" deal, only to have his underling hand me the key to test drive it. The worker said he didn't know anything about the condition of the vehicle. It was quickly apparent that it had been in some kind of accident, as the drivers side headlight was taped on with strapping tape. There were multiple cars in the lot that had been in accidents. When I test drove the Volvo, I noticed immediately that the heater/AC Fan was inoperable= Broken, which is very expensive to replace. Then the mechanics of the steering seemed like it was damaged, a rubbing sound ensued. When I depressed the brakes, there was a metal sound, a grinding of sorts- a hard stop. Surely this vehicle was not roadworthy. My issues: 1. When I opted for the "Private owner" sales on Craigslist, it turned out to be a DEALER who never told me he owned a garage until I was two hours away from home. 2. The lying about the condition. 3. The lack of photo depicting the drivers side headlight damage. The underling said that the owner was selling the vehicle as a private owner- then why didn't he have me visit the vehicle at his personal residence? LIE! The underling said that the owner would lower the price since the heater didn't work, since he is a mechanic. I said that I don't buy BROKEN cars. I surely would NEVER have this garage work on my vehicle- even if I broke down in front of his shop. Can you say Hustler? read more

Locked my keys in the car... it took them like 2 minutes literally, to unlock the car!

Exhaust pipe split and had to be towed to nearest shop "thankfully" the nearest was Killington auto..After explaining that I have 2 jobs and needed my car back got a call saying my catylac converter was bad and it would cost 350 plus It wouldn't be able to get some til thurs...(this was Saturday night) So I asked if they could just patch it up and let me know what they could do..Called back Monday morning and spoke to a different person who told me my catylac converter was good...it was my resonator pipe that needed to be patched up and THAT part was gonna cost 250..plus labor etc...well after calling on my own and getting parts delivered I repeatedly called...1st time was told car would be next 2 hours later I was asked if "I thought I was getting my car back tonight?" Yeah! Called 2 hours ago and guy said it was next on the lift...wait til W ednsday morning..have the parts...called..next up....almost done....2pm..finally done and at 300..nothing was stated just swiped my card, gave me keys seeyalater bye!...Go to get car inspected..can't because of exhaust leaks ALL THROUGHOUT plus a hole in the muffler!..was told it would cost another 400$ from some place else...the question that was posed is "why did they just do this part instead of just the whole thing? It would've been easier than doing just this." When I told them how much I paid in all they were stunned that they (Killington auto) would've did that...which is bullshit...when I called and spoke to the "mechanic" and was told he wasn't there or else he would've told me, and that he just fixed what he was told to fix....so now I am out of a vehicle cause of more money I don't have that I COULD have paid earlier...thanks a lot guys....go somewhere else ladies and gentlemen,pay the extra tow read more

Good experiences over the years, but now new management and new mechanics leave a lot to be desired. First the good. They always answer the phone, even 9pm on a Sunday night. Everyone is courteous and friendly. Previous mechanics did work that was effective. Now the not so good. They mis-diagnosed the problem and spent $600 needlessly. In the process they replaced the fuel filter, which runs at 30 psi. They damaged one of the high pressure connectors, and instead of replacing the connector, they cobbled in a piece of regular hose to the nylon high pressure line with hose clamps. It took 2 weeks, the first mechanic leaving and the new mechanic to get this done. The whole time there was very poor communication keeping me informed, and lots of delay after delay. Once done, It failed in 10 miles. They came to get me, towed me back, and fixed it no charge. Come to find out it's still the cobbled hose clamps, because the second time it failed 3 weeks later, 40 miles away on a Sunday night. They said it wasn't going to be covered, would be $120 for the tow, and since they were booked it wouldn't be until at least Wednesday until they could look at it. In my book, screwing up a repair this bad gets you a free tow back to fix it correctly. The high pressure pushed out the line away and out from the hose since there was no fitting or hose barb used. When this happens, fuel gushes out dangerously, the engine stops, and you are dead on the side of the road. Twice. 3 weeks IS NOT an acceptable warranty period, and faulty workmanship should ALWAYS be promptly repaired. You should not go to the end of the line when you are stranded due to their faulty work. With the help of someone that was nearby and in 3 hours we got more hose clamps on it to hold until I got home and had it properly repaired with the proper high pressure lines and fittings. Another issue is the woman who answers the phone is not at the shop. She says the mechanic will return your call, but frequently he does not. Since the phone answerer isn't even on premises she can't talk to the mechanic or tell you anything about the status of your repair. Work hours are erratic. You are not given the mechanic's phone number. To sum up: Poor quality work Poor support after making repeated mistakes Poor communication Still high turnover of staff Cannot recommend this shop to others. read more
