Terrible. No accurate descriptions for online only auctions. Broken items are sold. They demand you sign for items before picking them up.

I almost hesitate to write this review for fear I will spoil this special place . If you drive 2…read morehours north to Amish Country where Mt. Hope Auction is located, you will have seemingly arrived on another planet, in another time. If you want to avoid the typical tourist traps and experience something like from the movie "Witness", this is a trip you must make. The auction is HELD ONLY ON WEDNESDAY. That probably is a good thing, to avoid being overrun by, what is known to the Amish, as the English (that would be me). This is the place where Amish families come to buy, sell and trade their goods. I have been a few times now and find it utterly fascinating (I think they find me fascinating too) to hear the language, see the dress, horses and buggies.....just the tradition of the auction. Livestock, flowers, vegetables, clothing, kitchenware, tools, weapons, etc.etc. are available for purchase. Lots of things are literally auctioned off, but also you can just buy whatever. You can negotiate anything. The best time to buy food from the local gardens is in late summer or fall, otherwise most of it comes from the grocer. Still, it is cheaper and way much better than you would find at Giant Eagle and Krogers. Bringing a cooler sometimes is a good idea. BTW, it can be really dusty, so don't dress up. Along the way, you can stop in Charm, Ohio and visit both Miller's bakery and Hershburger's Farm. Both good places to buy bake goods. Hershburgers has more options of tasty bites such as popcorn, jams, noodles, honey, syrup, relishes, sausage, cheese, eggs, chocolates and whatever else I can't think of at the moment. There is an animal petting area for the kiddies which includes Big Ben, the biggest darn horse this city girl has ever seen. For real, BIG. Along the winding way, other sites include the longest covered bridge and Killbuck Marsh, wetlands. Oh and if you can't resist, there is always the traditional tourist trap in Berlin. I feel like I must say this......please be respectful of the Amish. They do not like to have their picture taken. Maybe a buggy shot would work instead.

I highly recommend Whipple Auction. My sister and I weren't sure what route to take with our dad's…read moreestate but looked into different options. Whipple Auctions was quick and polite with their responses. With the info they provided, we decided to use their services to auction the house and contents. It went smoothly from start to finish and I truly can't believe how much money we got out of both the house and the contents. It was more than double what I expected. If you have a home to sell, I would recommend using an auction and I would highly recommend using Whipple Auction. They know how to keep a crowd of bidders going and they also know how to sort through and separate or group house contents to get a good amount of money for those things too.

They are big enough to handle all of your needs but small enough to care. Whipple has a great reputation as a company that cares AND gets the job done. They have been around for 40 years and have a 3rd generation of family members who are really taking the company into the future but doing it with the integrity that was started by the first 2 generations of professionals. This real estate firm really makes you feel like you are a part of the family. Their real estate, auction, and title services are all first rate. Would not hesitate recommending anyone to use Whipple!

I had dimmerling do an estate auction at my deceased parents home. The day of the auction was…read morehorrible. Their opening bids were fair but after a few seconds of no response they would immediately drop the bid to next to nothing. They gave the buyers permission to come back and claim their purchases whenever the buyer felt like it. I still had strangers coming to my property two days after the auction to claim their stuff. They would still be coming had I not put a stop to it 48 + hours after the auction. These people didn't even bother to knock on my door and announce their presence. They just drove their vehicles through my lawn like they owned the place. Much damage to my lawn. They allowed the buyers to throw trash all over the property. One buyer came to claim his purchases two days after the auction. No one asked me if it was okay. I didn't know the man was coming. Building was locked. Dimmerling told the man to cut the lock. Can you say trespassing or even worse breaking and entering. Summit county sheriffs office responded. Police report available. The only reason dimmerling didn't leave in hand cuffs was because he didn't actually cut the lock himself. I allowed the buyer to leave without pressing charges. He made a stupid mistake but dimmerling was the true criminal. Items seemed to go missing days before the auction. When I inquired about them they would magically reappear the following day. You can draw your own conclusion. I had items clearly marked not to be sold. Dimmerling ignored this. Some things he threw out. Others I believe were sold. His buyers bought large quantities of items. They would them proceed to pick the best things from their purchase and just left the rest me me to deal with. The dump fee is going to cost me well over the few measly dollars I made. I feel I let the fox in the hen house. Was forced to watch the slaughter and then I got stuck cleaning up the mess. Terrible people. Horrible service. All for next to nothing. I now am forced to stay here and guard my property from trespassers and other criminal activity from dimmerling and his auction schills / groupies. I meant to say buyers. Careful what you wish for. You might just end up with a knife in your back. My advise would be to stay away from Dimmerling Auctioneers and Realty Company.
