Cleveland Estate Liquidators

I have never experienced an Estate Sale where the company hired treated customers in such an ill…read moremanner. Only a few items were priced and waited in line for 40 minutes to be given prices that were ridiculously overpriced. The comments being "how long would you wait at Walmart". Witnessed the estate sale company being very rude, loud and insulting. They are not professional at all. Hiring them to run a sale for you from what I saw would not be in your favor. Many customers walked out the door saying how rude these ladies were.

We recently contracted Cleveland Estate Liquidators to help clear my mother's home after her move…read moreto an independent living facility. I was thoroughly disappointed with Jessica, the owner. I found her to be deceitful, dishonest and thoroughly disagreeable. Her approach appears to follow three basic steps: (a) assert that there is nothing in the house that will sell for much, (b) sell items for far more than she claims to have sold them for, and (c) provide a fictitious, understated accounting of what was sold. She grudgingly provided the accounting only after I pressed her for it, and even then it was incomplete and misleading. On the day following conclusion of the sale (which Jessica ended early so she could tend to her dog), my family and I began to donate the remaining items to local charities: Savers, the Cleveland Furniture Bank and a group of Syrian refuge families we had met day after the estate sale. When I asked questions about the amounts for which various items items had been sold, Jessica's response via text was "you're giving things away and you question the prices of items I sold?" Donating items to a worthy cause once the sale has contractually ended is my prerogative. Getting an honest and accurate accounting of all items Cleveland Estate Liquidators sold is my right. Further, Jessica removed small oriental rugs after the sale claiming that she had a client who might be interested in purchasing them. Days later, I realized that she had neither returned them nor confirmed their sale. When I inquired, she said she could possibly sell them for $20. It defies business logic that Jessica would go to the trouble of taking the rugs and selling them to a client in order to net roughly $7. More importantly, I have written confirmation that two large oriental rugs were sold for three times the amount she provided, and that a set of deck furniture sold for five times the price Jessica acknowledged. Based on my experience, this woman preys on families who are in the midst of major life upheavals. A death or change in the living situation of a loved one is often the reason for an estate sale or liquidation. It would be an extreme understatement to say that being dealt with in this manner, during a truly daunting family moment, is very hard to accept. My experience with Jessica entangled me with a person who, in my opinion, is simply mean-spirited, combative and untrustworthy. As my family and I consider our legal options, it is my hope that this review saves others from such an unsatisfactory experience

I have been a Kiko's Buyer for several years and decided to start consigning some things at the…read moreFriday auction barn. I took a lot of time to sort things and put them in attractive lots. I stayed around to see how things went. I found it makes a huge difference which auctioneer handles your stuff. Today was a sunny day with hundreds of bidders. Early on with the senior auctioneers, things sold at relatively high prices because they knew what they were selling and took time to describe the items, generating interest. My lot was right in the middle of everything and, by luck of the draw, didn't sell until nearly last when most people had left. Although I wasn't happy, I know that's how things work. My complaint is that I also drew a junior, somewhat arrogant, auctioneer who made no attempt to sell anything. He characterized a box of vintage maps as "a box of paper". It sold for a dollar. Several boxes of Fenton milk glass went for a couple of dollars because he made no attempt to describe the items or encourage bidding. For a box of vintage Mason jars, he actually said "a bunch of bottles. Get them out of here." He called a woman from some a distance away to tell her she could have them for 50 cents. For a box of collectible plates, he took a look and said pass, not even asking for bids. And I am quoting him exactly. I will never take the time to sell things with them again. I'd rather give my stuff to Goodwill. On a side note, the crowd is full of thieves. If you can't take all your stuff to the car immediately chances are good something will be stolen. I actually caught one man walking away with a train car I bought. He said someone sold it to him for $2 and refused to give it back. Luckily I was able to prove it was mine and got it back. Yesterday, A lot of 6 lawn chairs I was watching was down to 2 by the time the auctioneer came around. People complain all the time but Kiko does nothing. They need some kind of security or checkout system. UPDATE: one of the managing Kiko auctioneers called me and heard every word I had to say. He said he was already aware of the problem auctioneer and would take further corrective action. When I got my check, it was for the full selling amount with no deductions for auction fees. Although I really think I was shortchanged because of the auctioneer's incompetence, I think Kiko management made a good faith effort to make the situation right.

It was around 2PM on the last day of the sale that was ending at 4PM. I went to the basement and there was a sign in the basement that stated anything unmarked was $1.00, I [picked up a power cord to a laptop in a bin full of unmarked items. When I checked with a sales agent and showed him the power cord to a laptop he stated it would be 50% off and would cost 50 CENTS since the sale was ending in 2 hours. I took it to the checkout table and told the the person collecting the money that it was an UNMARKED ITEM from the basement - He then asked me for $10.00 I said that the sign in the basement stated $1 and that an associate had quoted me $1 and I asked him to honor that price. HE BECAME BELLIGERENT raising his voice hollering that he didn't have to sell it to me for a $1.00 as I was told. I then raised my voice to make sure everyone heard that he was charging me 10 TIME MORE then I was told. I am calling this Bait and Switch - Kimable Brown NEEDS TO TRAIN THEIR PEOPLE TO HONOR THEIR PRICING AS POSTED. The checkout person tried to charge me over 10 TIMES THE PRICE I WAS GIVEN AND THE PRICE THAT WAS POSTED. I was a good customer and I will NEVER step foot into another Kimble Brown TAG SALES.

They are always so kind, laid-back, and easy to get along with. Their sales feel more like sales did when I first started going. They are just relaxed and enjoyable. I don't feel like I am being followed from room to room by a sales associate trying to sell me on every item. The owner also has a dry sense of humor, just like me, so I feel very at home with her. She always makes me smile. Another thing I really appreciate is that this company doesn't grossly overprice everything. They actually move the merchandise for their clients and get things sold. I am so tired of going to sales where, on the last day, the house is still FULL of stuff because the estate company priced everything so high that nobody wanted to buy it. Then, in some cases, the company goes back to the family and offers them a lowball amount to haul everything away, only to turn around and sell those same items from their own showroom. I think that's a pretty lousy thing to do to people, especially when many of these families are already trying to navigate probate, get an estate settled, and figure everything out while they are grieving. This company is not one of the shady ones I have come across over the years. They genuinely seem to work to get things sold and get as much as possible for their clients. That goes a long way with me, and I am happy to give them my business.

We were unsure how a lot of the process worked and multiple staff members took their time explaining everything. On top of that, everyone who helped us load our items up were extremely knowledgeable on packing and disassembling certain items (like a clock). We will definitely be on the look out for more of this company's sales. Absolutely loved Doris, Danny, and all the others!! :) Random note, but I was at the sale for quite awhile and all the items, no matter how big or small, were only treated with love and care. If I was ever in a position that I needed to have an estate sale, Doris would be my first call.
