CC Slaughters does not sleep!…read more Open from 2pm until 6am everyday of the week, this all day and all night party is the busiest bar + nightclub in Puerto Vallarta. The day is more mellow with food + drink specials with many people enjoying their outdoor set up with tables and chairs overlooking the street. Located across from Mr. Flamingo's they have incredible music that can be heard from both entrances, usually with a line forming out of the corner side as the night goes on. We passed through during the day, but attempted to pop in for a bit on a Friday night and the wait was just too wild... Slow moving line. The staff and security seem friendly, reasonable prices and fun decor. I've been to the CC Slaughters in Portland and was this years old when I realized they had a location in Zona Romantica - in similar fashion one side is more casual bar hang and the other is full blown nightclub with top 40 pop, latin favorites and lots of nostalgic dance throwbacks. If you're looking to dance until the sun comes up CC Slaughter - PV is the place to be. Dope DJs, drag galore, occasional go-gos, and great bartender pours. During huge event weeks like Beef Dip the party is just as much outside as it is on the end, but getting a beverage of choice might take a hot minute.

We just got a couple of beee from the bar and sat outside in the hitops table. It's also in the heart of the bar district so tons of foot traffics. Cheap beer and friendly people chatting away having a good time.

This club is so much fun and I've taken all my friends and recommended Code and everyone has had a great time. The setup is definitely more table based but it is pretty affordable. Once you walk up the main steps there is usually a small cover fee to come in and the bar is right in the back of the first floor. Up the massive mahogany stairs are the multitude of floor-to-ceiling doors that are all unisex bathrooms. I love the large mirror at the top of the stairs for a quick selfie and of course the bathroom attendants are super friendly. I've noticed a top floor but have yet to decipher if it is private event space of additional table seating (I will try to remember to ask next time). What makes Code stand out is the level of theatrics and lighting that are utilized throughout the night. From male and female go-go dancers, cascading light and disco ball drops that are synced to the music, pyrotechnics, and so much more -- this is one hell of a spot. Each night on different trips I've been on there has been a different theme for each night. You can tell they take great pride and plan out each theme accordingly. For those who opt for a table, they have some of the best service. From a dedicated server exclusive to your table for the entirety of the night to the frequent checks on what mixers or drinks you might need. You'll be squared away. Make it a point to add this to your trip itinerary and you will not be disappointed.

This is a most unusual club. There isn't a dance floor; instead it is a bunch of couches. We were…read moreapproached from the street which was cool, but then we walked in and there were at least 25 miserable looking workers trying so hard to get into party mode. They were basically zombie dancing, where you know they could hear the beat but were mentally checked out. One round of drinks was about 500 MXN for 2 simple tequila and sodas. The staff tried hard to sell us on those couch areas, and I believe the price was around 5,000 MXN for the base package. You are not allowed to sit unless you purchase. We actually might have bought this, but there is an Alfred Hitchcock-esque vibe here that cannot be explained on yelp. The theme of this place is a library plus the feeling you're being watched in your house. Also there are balloons. The crowd is very young; it was mostly 19ish looking people. Eventually, there was a performer who hung by her hair, which actually was really cool which is why this got an extra star. I was confused why they didn't advertise this during their crazy couch sales pitch. Overall we did have some fun dancing to the fun music but this is a hard pass. If you go, do pay cash and leave before they get extra weird.

The place wasn't quite packed yet, but it was certainly picking up steam. Zoo really leaned in on the Zoo theme especially with their animal decor and "real" gorillas, who were employees in gorilla suits. Poor guys must feel so hot in them! The women's bathroom was clean, which was a plus, but it felt small and cramped in there. My sister reserved a VIP booth and bottle service for my bachelorette party. There were 8 of us, and we sat comfortably at one end of a row of VIP booths. Our particular booth looked out to the big "ZOO" sign and a towering dance stage that you have to climb a ladder to get to. It was great for people watching, might I add. Even I ended up climbing up that stage to be a spectacle thanks to the encouragement of a gorilla. The gorilla guy was really fun and friendly, by the way. He helped me up and down the ladder to make sure I didn't fall. Between the two clubs where we got VIP bottle service, we unanimously agreed that Zoo had the better deal. We got 2 bottles of 1942 Don Julio, which were reasonably priced, and they were cheaper than the prices you would get for them back in the US. I felt like the DJ did not read the crowd as well. People were dancing to hip hop and reggaeton but simmered when dance music came on.

Get off your Clydesdale and realize you're traveling in someone else's country. It's not their responsibility to make sure you are pampered because you failed to research the location to which you traveled. UGH. Anyway, this bar is awesome! You go up a set of mildly janky wood stairs (don't worry, there is a railing!) up to the first floor of the bar. This is what I call the Video Bar section. They boast proudly that there isn't any WiFi so guess you better learn to socialize! There is a medium-sized bar to fill the area, bar stools on the outside railing overlooking the Malecon, and you can basically choose the music/videos you want to watch. Keep going up the stairs and you'll find yourself in the swankier live music, sofa, stripper pole section of the bar. Here is where you go to see the bands play while sitting in a somewhat comfortable sofa or on barstools, or if you prefer, take a twirl on the pole. Maybe you'll make enough pesos to go buy another insanely affordable cocktail. The owners make a point to greet you and make you feel welcome when they are at the bar, and you can't miss walking by with that cool mural on the roll-up door. Definitely go hang out here, chat with your friends, twirl the pole, and enjoy your night!

Bar La Playa is a MUST first-stop when visiting Zona Romantica…read more On our most recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, we wanted to spend a day in this part of the region. After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.
