I haven't been here in a long time. When we went on a hotter day (90s) there was no AC but a bunch of fans. So, that was a bit concerning because I wanted to eat sushi but became hesitant. I'm sure the fridges were fine but still... Anyways, we got an okonomiyaki to share and it was a bit disappointing in my opinion. It was quite dense, way more flour than cabbage and it was on the drier side, even with the sauce on top. I always liked the tonkatsu don but this time, the egg was so salty and the tonkatsu didn't seem like it was seasoned at all. The tonkatsu was nice and thick and cooked nicely but very bland. The rice was alright but it's just the balance of the saltiness of the foods were uneven. It's too bad...

I loved the cute homely vibe this place has. Hand painted boards , small signs everywhere -just something about it made me feel very cozy. The food was delicious but took a very long time to come despite us being the only other party in the restaurant .The robot is a cute touch ,perhaps they should use it to help make the food instead of serving it. Seriously ! The Ramen was amazing as was the sushi but I think I miscalculated and ordered a little less , however the wait times deterred me from ordering more . I couldn't bear to wait that long again and leaving slightly hungry seemed easier. The staff was sweet .

We were able to get a table for two on a Wednesday evening very easily. The decor was nice inside. They had robots bring us food and drinks. The sushi was great and tasted fresh. Their rainbow roll is $22 -- it had real crab inside, I just can't fathom the price still. The ramen was decent but could've been more flavourful. Great, kind and attentive service overall!

The food came out fairly quickly for a Saturday night, and it ended up being delicious. The ramen was perfect!

Went to this place for their ramen. Service was nice, I was seated immediately. The thing that irked me a little was the taste of the water, not sure if maybe it wasn't a clean cup, but still wanted to give the ramen a chance. I tried the garlic tonkotsu ramen, and it was great! I think if I went back, I'd tried the spicy version, but overall just the right amount of savory and salt. Ambiance was chill, reminded me of a normal trendy ramen shop. Perhaps the drink experience was a one off, but glad they addressed it when I mentioned it!

Love coming to this place for the chicken katsu curry but been exploring more of their menu and it's all so good and bursting with flavor, we appreciate the staff and robot as well!

The Karaage Don! In my opinion, their most consistent, most delicious, bang-for-your-buck meal set.

We recently moved to Hillsboro from the Bay Area and one of the things we've been craving is a solid spot for a sit down meal. We were pleasantly surprised with Kigaru sushi - don't let the name fool you, sushi isn't all they have here. Their offerings include various rice bowls, ramen in all the traditional styles, yakitori skewers, and precisely made sushi rolls. My favorite item has to be the Karaage Don. Since discovering this place this has been my go-to item. Each bite is perfectly crunchy and juicy, with a really robust and sweet sauce coating the perfect amount of chicken cutlet. It's the best bang-for-your-buck item in my humble opinion, and it comes with some delicious, fresh miso soup to wash it all down. The service staff is at the top of their game. Watching them go is so satisfying while savoring your meal. They're a well-oiled machine, and they really take care of you here. Speaking of machines, if you're lucky you also can get served by their little robot that brings dishes out to you. Super cute and the kids will love it. Overall, from the decor and beautiful wall art, to the professionalism of the service staff, to the delicious food, Kigaru has become my favorite all-things-Japanese spot in the local Beaverton-Hillsboro area. 10/10 on all fronts! We'll be back often - and very soon.

I hate to write 3 star (or lower) reviews, but I just can't give it a 4. This little restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a strip of Asian businesses, so I had high hopes. We were seated quickly and the service overall was attentive, polite, quick, no complaints. But the food...some was good and some was not so much. I ordered the house cocktail and it was delicious and although not traditional, very colorful and beautiful to look at. The gyoza were small, but tasty, nice thin wrapper and the tuna poke was small but also had a good flavor. The rest of the sushi rolls and chicken karage were just ok, there is nothing special about them and I've had much better. The item that pushed me over the star edge was the scallop yakatori. You order the yakatori from a separate menu by the skewer so I was hoping for something really fresh, but the scallops were inedible. We rarely ever leave food at a restaurant, but I couldn't have eaten these if I tried. They were dry, chewy and had a strong fish smell and flavor. The muscle was still attached to the scallop and was so hard to chew, it was like chewing a rubber band. Our bill was about $60 for dinner, so unfortunately we won't be back. There are too many other places to get average sushi for $60.

The spicy tuna hand rolls were fabulous!

This is about my takeout experience yesterday. On my birthday no less! To let you know how good their sushi is, I woke up this morning and within a few minutes said outloud at 4 am, "Damn, that was some good sushi!" Said with feeling and without care for any neighbors who might have believed that I was having "an episode" at that time. It WAS that good, y'all! I had a "Salmon Lovers Roll," a "Kigaru Roll," two spicy tuna hand rolls, and some Nigiri salmon. Each excellent, with the Kigaru Roll and the Salmon Lovers Roll as epic standouts. You will love the jalapeños on top of each of the former's pieces. I will be back, you should go there too! Kigaru is the truth and one of two superb sushi places in little old Beaverton Oregon!

We stopped here this past weekend for an early dinner. To be honest, we were disappointed as we heard the food here was great. We ordered the Veggie Croquette, Salmon Lovers Roll, Dragon Roll and Tontkotsu Ramen. The veggie croquette was tasty. But the Salmon Lovers roll was a little disappointing and just lacked flavor, we expected more for $14... the dragon roll a little better. I've had much better salmon rolls. The tonkotsu ramen had a tasty broth, chewy noodles but only came with 3 tiny pieces of pork. It's possible we didn't order the right sushi. Unfortunately we probably won't be back anytime soon. Service was good but the inside was a little warm as we also sat next to the front where the windows were. There is a small parking lot here and we came later ~4pm so we didn't have trouble parking.

We came for Easter lunch and we're seated right away at a pretty big table which was nice because we had our baby boy with us. Service came pretty quick but they told us we weren't allowed to eat the cake that we brought in unless we paid a 2.50 per person charge for cutting the cake. The robot that brought our food spilled our tempura sauce on the way to the table. We asked for some sauce plates for the sushi, which surprisingly didn't come with a Sushi, nor was there anything on the table laid out. We also had to ask for some extra utensils to eat the curry because we were only given chopsticks. The Japanese music and decor was nice but it was pretty quiet and kind overall there. The pieces of sushi were pretty small and didn't taste anything special for the ~$12/roll; not much fish in the pieces. The okonomiyaki was really small and was mostly batter. It was only $8ish but I expected a bit more. Overall wasn't too pleased with the overall experience. We only came here because most other places were closed.

This place is super fun! The artwork is epic and they play Japanese pop music! It's a vibe!

This place has become a regular spot when the sushi craving hits. It is always fresh and delicious. Vegas roll is my favorite, but the ragin' roll isn't far behind. Garlic edamame is always delicious! I really love the Japanese pop music and the fun art on the walls. Also: robots will often bring your food to you, which is a fun parlor trick. Floors are a little sticky for my taste, but it won't keep me from returning.

The front of house staff was excellent! The tables were fairly clean but it was giving a low budget Vegas vibe with the robots that deliver the drinks... it almost felt like if the people who brought you Chuck-E Cheese came up with a sushi concept... ... it was a big No to the food. The crunchy roll was what I liked most but even that was not great. It seems like they add "Japanese Mayo" to almost every plate and on every roll in some way. The wasabi was super sus. The ginger looked like it was in a little trash disposal box and just sat on the table for guest after guest... gross... who knows what could have happened to it! Just way too much mayo... did I mention that yet?!? The wagyu was so chewy I ended up spitting it out... both pieces. The California Roll had way too much mayo... ...the novelty of the belt can only get you so far... and in this case it carried me right out the door with no intention of returning again soon... especially with so many highly rated options near by...

Stopped in for a casual sushi meal and had a mixed but overall positive experience…read more Food: Miso Soup (3.5/5): Hot and comforting. Nothing special, but solid. Seaweed Salad (3/5): Fine and fresh, but pretty average. Sake Nigiri (3/5): Okay, but a bit heavy on the rice compared to the fish. Grilled Steak Roll (3/5): Steak, avocado, and cheese. It was fine, but the cheese flavor was too strong and there was too much rice, which took over the bite. Seared Salmon (5/5): Wow. This was the highlight of the meal. Very tender, perfectly seared, and full of flavor. This alone is a reason to come here. Smoked Salmon (3.5/5): Good and nicely balanced, with fish that was not too thick and a decent amount of rice. Edamame (3.5/5): Beans were good inside, though the pods were a bit firm and cooler than expected. Service: Friendly and helpful, always with a smile. Ambiance: Small cafeteria-style setting with rotating sushi on a conveyor belt. Simple, casual, and good for a quick meal. Overall, some items were just okay, but the seared salmon really stood out and made the visit worthwhile. I would come back for that and try a few other plates.
