    We got back a little while ago from my 3 year old son's haircut. He always has an issue with getting haircuts and I usually end up having to secure him in my lap in order for any kind of cut or even trim to happen. This time with Heather was EASILY the most pleasant experience we have ever had for my son. He was able to let her know that he was afraid of the "buzz buzz" and only wanted the "snip snip" and was happily distracted with all sorts of Baby Shark and car videos the whole time. By the end of the haircut, he was even able to be convinced to allow the use of the "buzz buzz" at his neckline and around his ears. I was so proud of my guy for being so brave and doing so well for the first time, and am incredibly grateful to the staff at KidSnips Deerfield for taking such good care of him!

    I've been putting off the big first haircut for my 2 year old for awhile now since I want it to be long, but after weeks of looking like she put her finger in an electrical socket I decided it was time to brave a haircut. I did what I do in all new situations: looked for a Berenstain Bears books. It turns out the bears never had to trim all that fur because such a book doesn't exist. Fortunately, Blues Clues came to the rescue this time. After Toddler R read her new haircut book a few times she insisted that she needed a haircut like her new friend Sprinkles in the book. My next mission was to figure out where to take a curly haired 2 year old who doesn't like to sit still. I was anti kids places out of fear that they wouldn't know what to do with our genetically cursed curls, but had a feeling that taking her to my fancy schmancy salon would be a bad idea. A friend insisted that Mita here at kidsnips did a fabulous job here at kidsnips so I figured it was worth a try. I made an appointment and shared the good news with Toddler R that she'd soon be able to see when they removed the hair that was then blocking her eyes. As soon as we walked into kidsnips I realized I didn't need a book to get her excited for a haircut. I can't imagine a kid not wanting to get his/her haircut in such a fun atmosphere. My little one was asked to pick out her favorite movie - thank goodness they had her favorite (Beauty and the Beast) movie in stock. What's a first haircut without Belle to share it with? She then made herself comfortable in one of their adorable chairs shaped like a truck. And then Mita worked her magic... Mita is a kids haircut pro, which she should be after working her for 9 years! She was great with my daughter and gave her a fabulous haircut. As soon as she was done I was kicking myself for putting this off so long because she looked so darn cute w/ her new stylish hair. Toddler R had the best time (the balloon and toy from the treasure chest helped make this her favorite outing of the year). This was $20 well spent! It's been 10 days since the big haircut and she's still talking about it and asking when she can go back for another haircut. They also sent us home with a first haircut certificate (complete with a lock of hair), which my daughter points to excitedly everyday. On our way out the door Jill (the owner) put some sparkles in my daughter's hair and mentioned that they also cut mom and dad's hair too. I'm tempted to go to Mita myself, but then again I'm not sure my butt is going to fit in those cute car chairs.

    Would not recommend this location. Don't get me wrong the staff is nice but some of them are just…read moreplain incompetent. I rarely get my hair done because I don't have a lot of free time & I was incredibly excited to finally have a bit of free time and wanted to establish a new salon in the area. I ended up booking a balayage appointment, a blow dry & cut. Immediately I noticed the colorist was going incredibly fast as she was coloring my hair. I even made a comment that I had never seen anyone work so fast which she laughed off. I got the sense that she was working quickly because she had another client coming in and sure enough about 20 mins before my hair was done being colored she left to start working on someone else's hair right behind me. First of all this isn't a good feeling when you're a client and second, this is just ODD. At one point I wasn't sure if she forgot about me or what was going on however she did eventually come back over and send me on to get my hair washed. Fast forward to getting a blow dry and cut (from a different person) - almost immediately we see a hard line of dark color (from brown to blonde) as the stylist pulled up the top layer of my hair, he then lifted up another section and it was the same thing. So instead of the dark color being feathered in like a normal balayage it was just a straight line of dark color into blonde which by the way isn't cute & not the look anyone's going for. We called the colorist over to show her and she at first tried to justify the situation saying that's what I asked for and then quickly moved on to apologizing and wanting to put more foils in my hair to correct it. By this point I had been in the salon for 4 hours & had plans right after. I had a lot of empathy for her as I don't like confrontation or calling someone out and she was visibly chagrined and incredibly apologetic. I simply didn't have time to get my hair refoiled then rewashed & blow dried so I kept telling her I would figure it out. The front desks solution when I couldn't meet their expectation of spending 5 maybe 6 hours in the salon that same day was to pay full price and rebook with another Senior level colorist (that I would also have to pay for). This experience left me really baffled and I won't be returning as the staff lacks realistic and practical solutions. The lack of doing anything to readjust the cost and instead asking me to return and pay full price again to fix the colorist mistake is just not a solution that is customer centric or satisfactory.

    This salon is my go-to for all. Hair, gloss, color, eyebrow dying, nails. Intimate, good energy…read morevibes by all, even when it's busy (which is often). Jorge (cut), Kaylin (color), Sawanya, Nelly, and Tamara are my faves for nails, but all are wonderful!
