I have to send a huge thank you to Mita Sheth at Kid Snips. Everytime I go to get my girls' hair cut she welcomes us like we are long lost family. My daughter uses a wheelchair, and Mita has no problem making her feel special and beautiful, and gives her an amazing cut every time. On our last visit, my daughter was getting ready for a scary surgery on her legs, and she was wheeling around the salon looking at toys. There was something special on a high shelf she loved, but I wasn't in a position to buy it for her that day. I knew she loved it and was talking about it the whole time we were there. When we got to the register to pay, the woman asked which one of my daughter's was Shea, and presented her with this very special toy compliments of Mita, so that she would have something fun to take with her for her hospital stay. Mita went so far out of her way to make my daughter feel loved, and to give her that special something she knew my daughter wanted. I almost cried seeing my daughter's face and the surprise in her eyes. It was beyond Mita's job to go out of her way to do this, but that's the kind of person she is. She makes kid's happy and makes them feel special. A large dose of kindness right when this Mom needed it!!! read more

This place is so cool! The salon is really neat and the stylists were very patient and friendly. My super shy 2 year old even talked to his stylist a little (Heather), which is pretty much a miracle! Definitely worth the cost because it's a whole experience, a really fun experience! They also keep it very clean and limit the number of people so you feel safe! read more

I took my 3 and 4 year old for haircuts recently with with Mr. Todd and they both had such a nice time! My 4 year old is autistic and haircuts have always been a struggle with lots of tears from both of us but not this time! While I prepped my son for weeks, he wanted to be brave but was still really scared when we arrived. Todd was patient, kind and so accommodating to him. He was able to avoid the 3 things my son was adamant he did not want (spray bottle, clippers and blow dryer) while giving him a great haircut with just a comb and scissors. He was encouraging & got to know my son and took the time to build that relationship. I'm happy to say the only tears were mine because I was just so proud of my son and relieved that Todd understood his differences and took his time. It was also my 3 year olds first haircut and she loved being able to get an "Elsa braid" as a special surprise. Even the girl (I didn't get her name) at the front desk was so kind to my kids and encouraging to my son. We will continue driving a half hour to see Todd again! read more

Mr Todd is extremely patient with my kids, he never rushes through a cut. He takes his time with each of them even asking them how they want their hair done so that they feel like they have some input. Love him! I would recommend him to all of my friends. read more

Recently brought my nephew in for a haircut. He absolutely hates getting it cut and his parents have not been able to find a good place to bring him. We lucked out and got Mr. Todd when we came in. He was so patient with Tommy! Tommy was nervous at first but Mr. Todd made him feel very comfortable. My sister was amazed when I told her how great Tommy was for his haircut here. We have taken my son all over to get his haircut and even the kid oriented places have always caused him to get very upset. The stylist here was sweet (not fake) and allowed him to sit watch a little movie and talk and once he was comfortable then she cut. The whole thing took 15min and cost $18 (so that is about what I pay but to have a haircut) without the drama is huge. read more

I take all 3 of my kids there, and get my hair cut by Jill on occasion. Jill is the best, she is able to entertain antsy children, give great hair cuts, and manage the store, all at the same time. All my kids love her and look forward to their haircuts. The deduction is the price, $60 dollars every time for 3 kids haircuts is steep, but they are worth it. read more

The certificate they gave us for my kid's first haircut is adorable, but the actual cut wasn't great. His hair is way longer on one side and his sideburns are uneven. I know my baby is just a baby, but he was really patient during the cut. I just wish the end result had been better. read more

I will give credit where it is do and Mita was fabulous with my sons first haircut considering he cried the whole time, all 15minutes... seriously he hated it but I love his haircut, lol. They have a ton of stuff and distractions for the smaller children, like I pads, games, and toys. We went in on Saturday morning and they were slammed. Luckily we didn't wait bc I had made an appointment but there were a ton of walk ins. They have some overpriced toys but some are totally reasonable. I would steer my children to the role play toys like the dentist or doctor kits or pretend kitchen set, def a better educational toy vs the overpriced Disney character junk. I do think they are overpriced for haircuts, $20 for a 1.5yr olds haircut. Considering my husbands haircut costs $10 at a salon in Niles :/ but considering they are super kid friendly I suppose the mark up is ok. Also check your receipt I was charged twice for a toy and had to bring it to the attention of the lady checking us out, she was on the phone, motioning me to pay via the visa pin pad, Im sure she was confused why I wasn't doing it even while a huge line formed behind me but I wanted to tell her she overcharged me. Love Todd! He is super at his job! He understands what you want even with minimal input. He is fast and gives a great cut every time. I have never had a bad cut. Last time I went in was for a big haircut change, got 13in off and bangs for the first time in over 25yrs (I'm only 34). Even though it was a big change, I loved it! Kidsnips is a great place to pick up toys, and I love that they do haircuts for "kids" of all ages-even I get my haircut there! I've seen that there are some complaints about running on time, but I don't mind shopping while I wait (they cut hair for children-of course they're going to run late! I can't even get my kids to sit still, a stranger with a scissors isn't going to do it in fifteen minutes!). First the good: Video games for the kids to play while getting haircut, lots of activity there with many kids getting cuts, nice atmosphere, kids get a 'treasure' (e.g. sticker, fake tattoo) from the treasure chest. The bad: low quality, poor attention to detail as my son's cut looks home-done / uneven / choppy. The stylist spent 3 minutes cutting hair and then was done. This place is alright. I have been here a few times not (not for my haircut). It is a lot of money if you don't have a coupon. For 2 kids (one boy and one girl) plus tip is $50. The girl was very quick at cutting hair which I guess you get to be that way as kid's attention spans aren't extremely long but the haircut job was just okay. I think you could probably get a better haircut at a cheaper place where they don't have cars to sit in and very expensive junky toys to buy. On a side note, you do get a free junky toy which is valued at about 5 cents. read more

Brava, brava, brava to Sandra (and who I can only imagine was Jill). My 2.5-year-old handled his first haircut mostly okay a few months ago, and I imagined this would be similar for him. Not so much. He totally freaked out, and since I had the baby in a carrier on my chest, I couldn't just hold him on my lap. Sandra never acted flustered, or annoyed, or unkind. She was clearly in positive problem-solving mode with me, trying to see how we could help my little guy go from mop-top to functional despite his meltdown without completely traumatizing him. (Jill? Who was at the desk when I came in but who appeared to be more a manager than a receptionist) came and organically helped us help my little guy. She was also calm, un-flustered, and positive without being fake and without undercutting Sandra. By the end, we three women prevailed: my kiddo was calm and ok with having his hair cut while he sat on my lap, my baby was happy and drinking a bottle with a happy manager, and Sandra was able to give us a terrific cut. Thank you to KidSnips for being okay with my kid having feelings, being okay that the first and second attempts to calm him didn't work, and continuing to treat us as deserving customers until we were all happy with the outcome. My kids (and husband) have been going to this amazingly run store for years and have always been tremendously satisfied. So when i needed to quickly get my hair cut and colored before starting a new job this week, i figured that I would give it a try. Jill, the store manager, fit me in quickly (without an appointment) and did a fabulous job on both the cut and color. When I got home afterwards, my husband told me that "I could never go to anyone else"! My 14 year-old daughter wanted to have her hair "dip-dyed" and Kelsey at the Deerfield Kid Snips was recommended. Kelsey explained the process and even showed my daughter pictures of different methods, so that she could choose what style she wanted. Kelsey was very professional while at the same time able to communicate with the kids at their level (she did cuts on other kids while we waited for my daughter's hair to process.) In the end, my daughter got exactly the look that she wanted, and I am also very pleased. It looks wonderful, and I thought that the pricing was quite good. I must admit that I am (like other parents) a little put off by all of the toys and games available for sale; you're going in for a hair cut (or color, in our case) not to shop for toys. However, it did prove to be a good distraction for me while we waited, and I found a couple of cute little items to put away for my nieces' and nephews' holiday gifts.
