First of all, the selection is exactly what you'd want from a bricks-and-mortar store: plenty of things that you might be looking for, other things you've heard of but forgotten about, and then a selection of things related to what you came in for but have never heard of. Next, they're great about hosting events. I've been to a couple of excellent ones, and the space is perfectly suited for an author's reading. Having a place like this is a treasure if you have kids! Excellent and highly recommended!

I am over the moon to have Boulevard Books in my neighborhood!!! When it opened up a year and half…read moreago, I thought it looked super cute but never had a chance to stop in. Over the last few months, I have spent a lot of time at Boulevard and as Tatiana the owner gets to know you, you become not only a loyal customer but a friend. Her events are awesome and something that Dyker needs. Working in Manhattan sometimes I'm just too tired to stay around in the city for a book signing or cooking class - Boulevard offers regular events such as this and it's only a couple of blocks away from our apartment. Poetry readings, psychic readings, meet and greets - I was so surprised to see such great monthly events when I first stopped in and each event is interesting and fun. The ones that have a cost attached to them are minimal fees and even though I don't have kids, I noticed Boulevard has a ton of kids book events and arts and crafts. They know you by name, track all of your purchases and have a loyalty program where you get a $5 coupon occasionally with your purchases. I joined the book club and the other customers in the store get to know each other and look forward to seeing each other at different events. I've also found some totally random kitschy books here for gifts that people have loved. As for the book selection, even if it's not as big as a chain bookstore, Boulevard has a great variety of books. Best sellers, secret finds, popular series - they have them and in almost every genre including a big kids and teen section. Boulevard feels homey and warm when you come in and like I said, Dyker really needed a place like this. I'd rather give Tatiana and her awesome staff my money than Barnes and Noble or Amazon. Considering how much I spend there, I may be asking them for a second job soon!

They also have extra game pieces and pens and pencils to use. The admission was $12 and during the week I believe it's $10. I had a lychee slush and it was absolutely delicious. Very fresh. I had the potstickers for a snack and I believe they were $6. The potstickers were okay but not great. It was a pretty clean establishment and the staff was nice. We had a good time playing the game and we were pleased with the games options. I would visit again :)

With little kids in the group, we knew we'd make a ruckus so we got a private room to contain our group's shrieking laughter, which worked out very well. The staff was really accommodating and the prices per hour are very affordable. We picked out some familiar games like Exploding Kittens, Catan, Jenga and Scrabble, but also a handful of new games mostly made by the same company who created Exploding Kittens. Those games are always fair and easy to learn. We ended up liking Throw Throw Burrito so much we purchased the game for ourselves at Target so we could have it for our weekend family trip. We also ordered a handful of bites, like popcorn chicken, fries, and bubble tea. The food is nothing to write home about, but food is not the reason most people visit Next Move Cafe. For a fun day of gaming with a small group, consider NMC, where the prices are low, the games are plentiful, and the staff is ultra sweet.
