Disgusting customer service. "Employee" which I think is the owner has HORRIBLE customer service skills. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE AT ALL. I am calling the mall management and making a formal complaint because the way he treats customers is completely unacceptable!!!!! This is Eric! It took way too long for the company to get back to me on confirmation of orders. The order didn't ship out as purchased two items were not available and as a customer, I was not informed of this until after the items have shipped. There was also no customer support phone number available to talk to anyone in reference to your orders. Don't think I will ever shop here again. read more

If I could give this place a 0 star I would. They are horrible I went in with my niece to buy a prom dress as soon as we walk in they look at us like why are you in the store. I ask the guy if I could see a dress and he asked me what size. I go and yell him what size and he said for you to big. I tell him it's not for me it's got my niece. He then goes and tell me the price of the dress and I say that's fine can she try it on. That's when he tell me that I had to pay him $10 to try on the dress even if I don't buy it. I asked him so if it too small for her I have to pay you for her to try on another dress and he said yes that's their policy. What a bunch of crap. I told him no thank you I would not give you my business. I was going to spend over $400 in the store but they were more concern on making their 10.00. How is this place still in business? I went here this weekend to search for a dress for the Winter Ball at my school. When my friends and I entered the employee was on her phone and didn't acknowledge our presence. At that point, I was put a little bit off, but ignored it. Then, as we continued our search, she then said something along the lines of, "Are you actually interested in buying something? Because you can't just play around." She hadn't said anything else to us before that, which I already found disrespectful. I then promptly took off the dress I had on and left. She never asked if we needed any assistance and never even said hello! Worst customer service I have ever seen. I will definitely not be returning. Would give 0 stars if I could. read more

I really liked coming here. Their prices are good for the type of dressy dresses they offer. Despite the negative reviews I saw here, I never had problems with their customer service. They were very accommodating to our needs. We have outfitted 2 different weddings and many other special occasions. We were able to special order a particular design and received all the dresses on time. The sad thing is that they are now CLOSED! I went to their store to pick up a veil for my daughter's first communion and it was closed. I always liked their fluffy dresses for little girls. It was my "go to" store for special occasions. Update April 2018... They relocated to a different space on the second floor within Solano mall. My girls and I are happy that we were able to pick their 1st Communion dresses there. She made my daughter cry. Looking for a kindergarten graduation dress for my daughter I asked the owner (the lady in the picture) for help, she looked up at me and ignored me, my daughter then asked for help and she side eyed her and continued to ignore us. When she finally came to help I asked her if she was having a bad day and she told me If I don't have patience i can leave, and she then kicked me out. My daughter left out of the store crying because she really wanted the dress, I feel like she does not need to be working customer service being so rude to her customers. This is my second time purchasing from Kid's City. The first time was for flower girl dresses for my wedding in 2010. Yes, it's been that long. They allowed me to exchange the dress for a bigger size with out any hassle. Just about two weeks ago, I came in for my daughters communion dress. The staff was attentive. No complains here. I went in today to find some things to wear for my daughter, since we are getting married in October. I went in and found the halo that I was looking for as well as some kids jewelry. I walked over to the shoes to see if I can find my daughter a nice pair of ivory and silver shoes. I recently got engaged and was walking around the mall with my mom and my daughter we stumbled upon kid city and decided to go in and see if we could look at some flower girl dresses (I needed 3) and possibly bridesmaid dresses, the lady asked me What I was looking for or if I was going around the store to play around....um excuse me? I let it go and proceeded to let her know that I wanted my daughter to try on one of the dresses to see how it fit, she asked me what I need it for and I gladly told her that I was recently engaged and looking for a flower girl dresses, she literally rolled her eyes at me and told me The dress is for buying only not for playing.... Went to Sacramento to look for a homecoming dress and came home empty handed. Decided to come to the Fairfield mall in search for a homecoming dress instead. Went to almost every store and nothing stood out, was walking past kids city and was instantly drawn in. Saw a beautiful pink dress and tried it on, fit perfectly and was stunning. The dress was a little pricey (135 dollars) but was totally worth it. The management was very nice and professional, letting me try on different sizes and even giving me a discount. decided to make this review after seeing the many awful reviews and felt I should share my amazing experience to give people more perspective. read more

If I could give zeros stars I would. I have always gone to this store when it was on the second floor. I never had any problems. This was my first time being here in its new location. We were looking for two flower girl dresses and some brides maid dresses. From the second we walked in Small Asian man was following us around and giving rude looks our way. Made a comment to one of our brides jades that the dress she was in would not fit due to her weight. Super rude and unprofessional. Not to mention there sizing on their cloths is different than Regular sizing. They will never have our business again. read more

If I could give one star I would the Asian lady there is so rude me and my mom went in and my mom asked to try something the Latina women was fine with it but the Asian lady mumbled under her breath "what size is that she a bigger size and laughed rudely" and the Latina didn't hear but I did so I answered back it's a size that fix I told her that it was rude or her to laughter she replied "you can't tell me how to talk" and I told her your right but I can tell you that that's not good customer service then she goes on to say the dresses her won't fit her and to put it back and not try it on. It really sucks that there aren't many places that offer formal attire for the wee ones. What sucks even more is when the few places don't have staff that know what good customer service is. Hey, I've been there, first job, in a mall, in retail. Sucks for these people just starting off that they come across lots of people who are seasoned in customer service and have an expectation of what they should experience. I came here looking for a baptism outfit for my son. Kid's city has all the boys' christening outfits wayyyyyyy up on the top racks, where you need one of them hook things to pull something down. Not very good for a shopper who isn't 7 feet tall. But this is where your fabulous salespeople come in, right? Ha, one would wish. So, I'm standing there with my face towards the ceiling, with my son in his stroller next to me fighting for my attention to feed him his snack. Eyes toward the top rack, eyes toward the salesgirl, who is standing behind the counter. Eyes back up, eyes back to the girl. This goes on for about 5 minutes. Not once does she ask if I need help with anything or would like to see anything. Ok fine, whatever. Give me more time to decide on which horrendous little outfit I'd like to see. Which takes me another 5 minutes. Anyway, I finally decided on the outfit, at which point I have to go over to the girl and say excuse me 5 different times (am I really being soft spoken or is she just pretending to not hear me?) so she pays attention to me. So she finally grabs the clothes hook and comes over. I ask to see a certain outfit in a certain size, and she tells me she does'nt have that size. Ok, so what about the next fit over? Nope, no size in that either. Umm, ok, so I figure she would tell me which outfit DOES come in the right size. Ha. wishful thinking. So I just ask to see the size that's available, and she pulls it down, hands it to me, and WALKS AWAY. What if I wanted to see another outfit? Umm, I guess I would be SOL and have to go through that whole ordeal all over again. She should've just left me with the damn hook so I could look for myself. So I ended up getting the outfit that she handed to me. The price of it gave this business one more star. She was also nice, so it wasn't a total piss me off experience, but I would hope she gets a bit more common sense and provide better customer service in the future. read more

I have purchased several dresses for my daughters at Kid's City and was pleased with the service provided in the past. Therefore, I returned to purchase another dress for my daughter's upcoming dance. There was a dress that was hanging on the wall and I asked the worker to pull down a dress for my daughter to try on. The store worker told me that I would have to pay $10 deposit and if I did not buy a dress, I would not receive my deposit back. I was appalled, as I have never heard of paying to try on a dress. I asked the worker why would someone have to pay to try on a dress and her response was that people who try on the dresses on the upper wall tend to not buy the dresses because they are too expensive and the dresses becomes damaged by so many people trying them on. The dress was $290, I would have certainly paid that amount if the dress looked nice on my daughter. The fact that this store assumes that the people that they serve in the mall can not afford to pay approximately $300 for a dress and therefore charge them to try it on is appalling. I would not be spending a penny at this store and would not recommend anyone giving them their business. read more

We walked in the store looking for tuxedos for my nephews at about 8:15 p.m. The owner never mentioned that she was closing soon until we asked her for sizes and said "are you going to buy something because I'm closing." We were appalled, but tried to ignore her rude comment. She proceeded to be extremely rude when we had another question. I responded that she had no customer service. She then said she didn't need the business and that she was closed. We walked out and she followed rolling her eyes. I absolutely love this place. I come here all the time for my little daughter and my 8 yr old son. They have the cutest little dresses, shoes, and accessories. We came here for my wedding and we ordered my dress as well as all of our bridesmaid and flower girl outfits. Crazy good service, it arrived very quickly and we were very pleased. I had absolutely the worst experience there. Recently I went there for prom dress shopping and found a dress that was to die for, I loved the color, and style. It was a medium and typically I am a large, but the material was smooth and I asked I believe the manager he was a short Asian man if I could try the dress on and he said " that's a medium you won't fit it " and proceeded on, he did not offer to help with anything else. This is the second time we attempted to shop this store...after the first experience I was hesitant to return, however, we figure maybe it was just a bad day for the clerk. So we tried again. Sadly, different clerk same horrible demeanor and attitude. On Tuesday October 11, 2016 at 2:30ish pm we entered Kid City at the Solano Mall in search of a dress for our daughters wedding. The most unprofessional, rudest, unpleasant, and depressing experience we have ever encountered. Our daughter is a whole 105lbs size XS, and dresses were limited to her size so we saw one in the kids section that may have worked. However, we were told that she could not try on any of the larger size kid dresses only after the sales girl said flatly, "Kids dress? I don't think so." Then she proceeded to grab the dress out of my daughters hand and set it behind the counter. No further explanation was given until I inquired why. "I just follow the rules." she said. She must really dislike her job....if that is the case, you should find a new one. But you may want to check your attitude at the door. Sadly, we were looking to spend a good amount of money if we found the right dress for the bride. We were also, searching for the wedding party....but the sales clerk wouldn't know this because she simply didn't care to inquire what we may need. We DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL!!! PLEASE READ!! Poor customer service and harassment during our visit here. We came to the store to buy my little sister a dress for a special occasion. My mom and my little 7 year old sister were being followed in the store by a white male that works at the store. It made my little sister feel uncomfortable and she wanted to leave. The man continued to follow them and my mom hung the dress back and the man intimidated my little sister and asked her where was the dress looking around as if she was stealing. We then asked him if we could talk to Tracy, the store owner to bring it to her attention . My experience with her was even worse. I asked her if their was a store policy against bringing in shopping bags. She said no. Then I asked her why was this man following us in the store, that he was making my little sister uncomfortable. She said if we don't like it that we can just leave her store that she doesn't have to give any explanation and can refuse us service. She then accused my little sister of throwing her merchandise on the ground. She did not throw anything on the ground. My little sister was scared and began to cry. Tracy yelled at us to get out of her store and that we should go shop at the flea market. We filed a report with security about the incident and with management. Security went to the the store right after we filed the report. This is not a family friendly store. Tracy is rude, racist and very unprofessional. Our experience was awful and hope that people read this review and avoid this store entirely. read more

Was just walking by and found this great little outfit for my 1 year old nephew. The sales people left me alone until I knew which one I wanted (hate it when they pounce on me at the door). Anyway, after I selected the outfit, I asked the sales person to get it down for me which she did with a smile. If you want something, just politely ask for it! My wife and I were supposed to pick her dress up at this store and we end up wasting almost 2 hours of our time at this store. the staff at this store are so unprofessional!!! when we first got in the store the staff (kathy) was already giving us an attitude but she was nice to the other customer because they speak the same language. to make the long story short my wife ordered a gold dress and instead they are forcing us to accept the dress that is a totally different color. we are not blind and even a kid can tell you that the dress is a different color! we just wanted our money back and they refuse to do so. tracy (the so called manager) is also insisting that the color of the dress is the new gold and that we don't understand the fashion business. As an upper middle class African American woman, I was outraged at the level of distrust, prejudice and racism shown to myself and my family on Sunday evening May 20, 2012. My husband and I, in our late 40's, were shopping for dress shoes for a religious function for my young son. We were closely watched by the two staff members while customers of lighter ethnicities were allowed to shop freely. We managed to find a pair we liked but when I asked the Hispanic clerk if she could remove the sercurity tag in order for my 7 year old son to try properly try on the other shoe, she rudely told me 'No. try on the other shoe'. When I asked her again she then said she had to WATCH him try the shoe on in front of her at the counter. Her atrocious attitude did NOT improve as she closely watched him test them out. I understand sercurity, but this was BEYOND any reason. Over the past decade their lack of professionalism again and again and. . . yep again has caused this customer to never return.
