I've been here ever since over a year now! I came in knowing nothing, but working one-on-one with Coach Zach helped me build a solid foundation and grasp the fundamentals of BJJ and MMA. The personal sessions also helped me fast forward my progress and discover who I was in my training. I'm incredibly grateful for all the coaches Zach, Wyatt, and Calvin for everything they've taught me. Their coaching styles are consistently encouraging, patient, and intentional. You can tell that they have poured out a lot into the students here by the way they remember your progress, push you with care, and treat every small win like it matters. They really care. They care not just about technique but about you as a person, and that makes all the difference. If you're thinking about joining, do it you'll be in good hands. The sense of community is warm and authentic, making it easy to stay consistent and actually enjoy showing up.

I chose to do Boxing and conditioning, but i end up also doing Ultimate Training which is a compressed work out, better than any Gym i have been. I also have a trainer ( Zach ) who i work out with weekly, i learned a lot about my limits and my resistance levels, and i feel 10 times better than when i started, i highly recommend it, just sign up, and i promise you will like it. Don't let the punching bags intimidate you, you gonna end up loving those things;)

Some of the staff were not polite, respectful, or supportive--instead, they were often judgmental. During my time there, I ended up getting injured, which ultimately required surgery. After that, I decided to discontinue my membership. I reached out by email several times asking them to stop billing me and to credit the months I could not attend. Despite my repeated attempts, they never responded, never called me back, and continued charging me for five months while I wasn't attending. This lack of professionalism and care, both in how they treat members and in how they handle serious concerns, was extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I strongly do not recommend anyone to join this gym.

If you miss the cliques from high school and want to be fat shamed by an instructor who's in worse…read moreshape than you? Then you've come to the right place! I've been going here for five years. The owners have gone through instructors like a 90 minute class goes through wipes. They have come to the point where they are shipping in coaches from DC and MD. Where do I begin? You walk in and the front desk is too busy talking about what's in their milkshake to greet you. Then you're waiting around a cluttered lobby with two piles of lost and found. The decorations from Christmas are still up. They have 39 spots for the class but only 4 coat hooks. The water fountain spits out warm water which tastes like it was run through the gym shorts of the previous class. Suggestion, it might be time to clean out those pipes! The class itself is a popularity contest. The regulars (people who suck up to the coaches and assume they can bully other class members) like to talk at a decibel higher than the music to update each other on which pre school is the best, which Range Rover car salesman has the hots for them and which "Starbies" they are going to after class. The workouts have gotten more repetitive and the music sucks. Please avoid and wait till the next fad gym comes through.

I canceled the membership for my son, but they forced me to keep paying an additional 3 months. And even after those 3 months they're still charging my credit card, even though the owner, Steve, clearly stated in the email he sent me that they will no longer charge me. They have an additional $30 "insurance" charge every year as well. With prices starting at $99/mo for 4 classes/month all the way up to $180/mo for unlimited, it can be extremely pricey - especially for the level of instruction you're receiving. To be honest, there is no check in system so you could just sign up for the basic package and show up for more than 4 classes a month. Nobody would check up on it. The unlimited classes are meant for students to be able to take whatever class they want. (CrossFit, Muay Thai, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu are all offered here) However, the head coaches frown upon you for straying from your core classes so there is rarely any crossover between students. Regardless of which membership package you sign up for, Capital has multiple locations, any of which you can cross train at throughout Maryland and Virginia - Alexandria, Takoma Park, Lorton, Loudoun, and Fairfax. The CrossFit program offers a good workout, but there is negligent detail in using proper technique. I would be cautious of completing a lift for the sake of time or simply to complete it. However, they do have a well equipped CrossFit area. The owner may be a Royce Gracie black belt but just take one of his classes and you'll see that things don't add up. Roll with him even! Having rolled with high level belts, a high ranking blue belt is more qualified to teach. There is more emphasis on everybody being friends (and Capital being more of a social club) than being actual training partners/improving your game. A lot of chit chat in classes with minimal attention to details and technique. Beginners are often left to be helped by other white belts. The general manager is not very pleasant to deal with and can turn potential members away just by his attitude. He is also the head striking coach but has no credentials to back this up. Beginners are thrown into class with no instruction on how to throw a proper punch or kick and expected to be able to keep up with the rest of class. Again, beginners are left to learn from beginners. The head coaches at Capital are more concerned with how they look than teaching their students sound technique and it shows with their fighters. While their facility is extremely nice and well kept, kids run rampant here and neither the staff nor the parents keep them in check. Kids are often zooming around on scooters, playing catch, toys are scattered all over or they're just running throughout the gym. For potential members checking out Capital - I recommend doing your research on the instructors and beware of the 5 star reviews here. The owner often asks his members to post reviews to boost the gym's reputation.

If the music slaps, the workout is so much better. Every class leaves me sore in the best way, feeling like a total boss, and already plotting my next visit. I'm almost at 50 classes and it doesn't get easier. I'm always pushing myself to amplify, and let me tell you -- it makes it easier if you strength train, but it's still hard AF when you actually have to slow down and have mind muscle connection. Classes do fill up pretty quickly so you have to get it in there to schedule as soon as they open up. Try it for a great workout or an addition to your weekly rotation. The class was at 8:15pm on a Friday; we did the Signature50: Full Body, which I believe was a more advanced class. Although it was a good workout, it was hard. The instructor was nice and guided people as needed. The music was great and on point, but we couldn't hear her over the loud music. Also, she had us move to the middle reformer machines, I would have felt more comfortable at the end. This is truly a great workout and targets muscles with smaller movements that compound workouts miss. Upon signing up for the class, an email and text message are sent with information, including the code to enter. They also mention that there are charges if canceling or no-showing. They have solidcore merchandise available for purchase with the card on file. They also provide items such as hair ties, bobby pins, hear buds (if the music is too loud), etc. The customer service is average, there was one person at the front and she wasn't very engaging. The business is located on the lower level of a larger building. There is free parking in front of and around the business. There is also a parking garage with some free parking (check the signs!). Would I return? absolutely.

The studio is clean, with the right amount of fitness equipment, good vibes and background music. I really like the fact that I am not entertainment for the people on the cardio equipment, like in a gym atmostphere. Also there are not guys staring you while you are working out. I have not repeated the same exercise twice. It is a full body workout with an emphasis in core training that is fun and challenging. John stretches you before and after the workout and provides Myofascial release with a foam roller. Now I can say, I now feel energized after my workouts. I have had 5 other personal trainers in my past and, I have to say, never have I received results so quickly. I am not talking about the beefy, bulky muscles, but lean, long, sexy fit bod, which are my desired results. I have been training with Fitness Aspects for 7 weeks, twice a week and the rates are very reasonable. I decided to seek John's help due to an accumulation of various pains and wanted my 20 something year old butt back. I rarely feel my pain anymore and I am able to enjoy running with an increase vigor. John is so likeable and motivating, I really feel he cares about his clients. I so look forward to my workouts. I have recommended Fitness Aspects to closest of friends because I know they will be taken care of and get results. If you are looking to make a change in your life, please give John a call. I had started running at 48 and loved the way it made me feel--strong and "lighter"--but got a compression injury and had back surgery--which didn't help. Working with John has literally transformed my life. He is an expert trainer who is an expert in exercise physiology and nutrition. I realize now that I probably did not need surgery --the key to relieving my back pain was strengthening my core. I am now largely pain free and feel so much better. It's hard to sum up John's level of expertise in a brief post--he understands physiology, nutrition, and the body in a way no PT or orthopedic doctor seemed to. His classes are group classes but each exercise is tailored to each person's level of conditioning, strength, and injury profile. It is like having an individual trainer with the fun of a small group workout. I have learned how working out with incorrect form can cause injury. My body is strong, I have no back pain, and my overall health is improved. My goal has been overall health rather than "weight loss" --I am in my 50's and my focus is on reducing my stress, enjoying my life, and feeling healthy. I URGE YOU TO GIVE JOHN A TRY!!!
