This was my first time!! I loved the decor and atmosphere. I was there last night(Sunday). They had great live music outside and any sport you could think of on inside! I had a shrimp blt, it was a little spicy (which is great for me), and a rum bucket!! Everything was excellent! My server was great, she made both drink and dinner suggestions. Good food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. We went on a busy Saturday night and we're seated pretty quickly, especially when you compare it to the usual 45-min wait times everywhere else. We started off with the spinach and artichoke dip and if you've ever had spinach and artichoke dip at Applebee's, Kickback Jack's blows it out of the water, but make sure you have a breath mint handy because it was definitely heavy on the garlic (which is a huge plus in my book!) Their kids' menu has the basic staples. The portions for the kids' menu are pretty big and my 7 and 10-year-old probably could've split one meal. This is a great place for dinner for families, but it also has a nice outdoor bar section with a bunch of TVs everywhere. And a big thanks to our friendly server, Faith! Very aggressive managers. Our waitress expressed she just moved to Hickory from Florida and is a single. I am in town for another restaurant company to help with training systems and when I was leaving there were 2 managers waiting for me by the front door. One told me she did not appreciate me trying trying to "steal" her team members and the manager next to her was there as a witness. I do not need to be bombarded by 2 managers as I try to leave. We sat at the table for over an hour, you could have spoken to me then. But, there were no managers visible doing table visits as we ate, but hey sure to be visible as I left. I go back inside to let her know there was a misunderstanding. I asked to speak to her again and this time 4 managers bombard me. Completely hostile and aggressive. I explained that all I said to the waitress was as a single mother if you were looking to supplement your income, visit our website. I ordered the cajun chicken pasta, certainly was not the best choice. There was just nothing very gourmet, savory, or substantially satisfying about anything my table ordered. I think people (including myself) forget this is a BAR- and I think that is where it's quality rest. "Bar food", nothing great. If you go to Kickback Jacks looking for an Applebee's or Chili's experience you'll be sorely disappointed. Wow, for such a busy place it sure is terrible. It was a Friday night so I understand that it's busy. So we wait about 20 to 30 minutes for a table which is reasonable. They call us up to take us to a table. We follow the hostess to a table that is maybe big enough for 1 person to sit at, then she proceeds to tell us we could wait for a bigger table (which we did) and that we would be the next to get one.... Why wouldn't you just explain that instead of walking us all the was across the resturant? The waitress was ok, a little annoying trying to push products. A couple items ok, but not half the menu. Our side salads were ok, nothing special and have definitely had much better. What pissed me off the most was my entree. It was horrible. I got the steak and ribs. Not only was my steak overcooked which grinds my gears (I like a medium steak and not a bit more done than that) but it had a funny taste, like it was old. The ribs were not much better. They were dry and tough. I see why the give you a rack of ribs when most places only give 1/2 racks because there is no meat on their ribs at all. The fries where fresh cut and decent. My wife had a burger, she told me it was ok but nothing special. I understand this is a sports bar and grill. So it's to be expected that it will be a loud place. But it is rediculous how loud they have the tvs in this place. They were so loud that my wife and I had to yell at each other to hear what the other was saying. Turn them down some, we don't need to go deaf over a basketball game. One of the managers was near our table almost the whole time as it was near their seating chart and the hostess stand. He was rather annoying. Often loud with staff trying to coach them, he seemed like he was way to pumped up which was off putting. Also, he just about bumped into the back of my wife when he was walking by trying to look at one of the tvs. Overall, unless you are wanting to catch a game with your buddies and grab a beer, steer clear of this place. 1st time here. The server was friendly and attentive. Food was delivered fast. We got the grilled BBQ wings and All American Burger. Fiance and I decided to try this place last night for dinner. First thing we noticed is the place is dead for maybe 2-3 tables besides us. The music was EXTREMELY loud. Ya I get it's a sports bar. Stopped by here to order a quick takeout lunch, didn't have much time to do any research. I thought it was odd that the waitress that came to the front greet us had to take us back to the takeout counter to place our orders, and then asked us to go back to the main original entrance and wait there for our food. We both got salads, they were both decent, nothing special. The chicken on both was cooked well, and I liked that they wrapped the meat in foil so it would stay hot and not wilt the greens, I wish they hadn't put the foil wrapped meat directly on top of my salad inside the box, maybe kept it separate outside of the box of food. Will be working around the area for awhile, might give it another try. It definitely seems like a place designed where you come to watch a game, have some alcoholic beverages and then are blown away by all the "fresh" fried foods they have to offer. read more

I used to work here. I am suprised this place is still open. The managers, Mindy, for example will blatantly tell you "servers are a dime a dozen and completely replaceable" if you just ask. As a waitress we are supposed to ask every single customer what they want from the alcohol menu when they sit down. I was serving a dad and his 6/7 y/o son, and did not ask if he wanted anything from the drink menu. He ordered water, and never onced requested alcohol. When I went to fill their drinks, Jeff and Miranda pulled me into the office and told me I could not work the rest of the night because I cannot do a simple waitress greeting. I was scheduled to work the next day and I got there and had no assigned tables, I was just supposed to clean up after the other waitresses. I am in college and pay rent, I have no time to play petty highschool games with 50 year old idiot managers. I asked Mindy why I was even there, and she told me I can just quit if I want. I have never been so confused and disappointed in my life. As a waitress, I never once touched the food, it was gross and I did not trust the kitchen- you shouldnt either. I constantly got hit on by the cooks and never felt comfortable working there. The managers made me cry often, the waitresses are not viewed as humans to them. read more

The only positive thing I can really say about the restaurant is that we didn't have to wait long to get a table. The restaurant was bust as it was 6:00PM on a Sat night. We were seated and had our drink orders taken promptly. We ordered loaded cheese fries as an appetizer and they arrived before my drink did. That makes sense seeing as though the loaded cheese fries were Luke warm and tasteless. At our table, we ordered a chicken 'cheese steak' sandwich, 3 burgers and a pizza. Of the order, 2 of the burgers were wrong. The pizza was mediocre at best and the chicken 'cheese steak' sandwich was fairly tasteless. If there's any way I could give a negative four star, I would. We arrived yesterday Evening a little after 9 and from the beginning this went downhill. Our waitress screwed up 4 of the 5 meals that were ordered mass step our drink order and when we asked for the manager to try to straighten it out, Sean Banks was the rudest most arrogant food service "Professional " that I have ever encountered. He not only argued with us about what his waiters did he vehemently denied any wrong doing and told us that the customer isn't always right even though he admitted that the waiters could have made a mistake. Mind you are total bill was close to $350 we were not looking for any huge discounts or anything else we started out trying to explain what it happened and what went wrong and he instantly went on the defense and started arguing with us. I'm not Going to go into how embarrassed this makes me being the father of an accredited chef along with my girlfriend who Son is an accredited chef. I used to like this place until last year when I wanted to have my son's birthday party there and they would not accommodate a section. They said it would interfere with the Sunday football times for the customers. I was terribly disappointed in this sorry excuse. They could have came up with a better excuse. I was shocked that they would not do this. I do remember one year for my birthday they saved a section for my birthday and that's why I didn't understand why they wouldn't this time. So I give all the thanks to O'Charley's because they accommodated my son's birthday party. It was wonderful and O'Charley's really care about all customers and not just some certain class of customers. That's why I do not go to Kickback Jack's because of this and I have had people ask me where to have a birthday party and I tell them O'Charley's and do not bother calling Kickback Jack's because they only cater to a certain class of customers. The waitstaff came by often to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything, but didn't stop long enough for us to answer, so it required about 5 separate trips to get everything we needed. This is the greatest restaurant in all of Hickory, NC! I eat here all the time. Great place to get wings, burgers, steak, nachos, pizza, you name it. The waiters/waitresses are always prompt and make sure you have everything you need. They come to check on you quite a bit. It's also a great place to watch sports!
