Kia Kia Kia....where have you been all my life? You are a God sent fix my hair Angel! Thank you for getting my hair right today. You did an amazing job on my color, cut and style. Kia is like a mastermind colorist scientist. Her ability to get to get my dull lifeless hair color and turn it back to this vibrant head of beautiful platinum Thank you Kia.. .You have a new fan!. I am looking forward to my new hair journey with you.

Today was my first time getting my hair done by a professional in several years and Kia and her assistant did not disappoint! They were punctual, clean and very friendly which is sometimes hard to come by. I also appreciated how knowledgeable she was about my 4c hair type and what treatment would be most helpful for it in its current state. I can't wait to become a regular customer and see how much growth I will get with my curls by going to her. Also as a new client you get 30% off and can build up reward points for further discounts which is always a plus. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend this salon to anyone especially my natural curly haired girls out there.

This was my first major hair cut hence the before and after pic. THANK YOU TO KIA for making this such a great experience for me. I was excited but nervous and she made me feel at ease and like I was in good hands. Her assistant shampoo scrubbed the hell out of my scalp , I LOVED IT!!! After the cut, she let me keep some hair lol and styled it with her products to give me some definition. I am IN LOVE with my new cut and can't wait to go back to see how we can explore styling my hair

This is my second time going to Kia. I have done some real damage to my hair over the last few years trying to do my hair on my own (was a broke college student try to save some $$, lol). Finally decided to give in and go to a professional. Both times I've gone, I've gotten my hair deep conditioned, trimmed and blown out/flat ironed. Erica (I think is her assistant's name) is really friendly AND more importantly, does an AMAZING job of massaging your scalp when washing your hair - I've pretty much fallen asleep both times, haha. She did a really good job - i can tell that my hair looks/feels a lot healthier now that she's trimmed it a few times. Plus, my hair looks like it was freshly relaxed - I have transitioning, 4C hair (haven't relaxed since last October), it's soft, bouncy and shiny. Note - I took these pictures the day after Kia did my hair. The curls looked SO nice when I left the salon, but I stupidly forgot to wrap up my hair while laying around the house yesterday, so they fell a bit. My bad. Still looks really nice though (also please ignore the photo bomber ‍)

My number one beef with this salon: I do NOT like having to play phone/text tag to make a hair appointment. That's one of the reasons I left my last salon. I have very limited time (and patience), and I expect to get a finalized date for my appointment at some point during the same day (or at very least the next day) after I called to schedule it. But 2 weeks of calling and texting and voicemails just to get a date narrowed down...unacceptable. Plus the shop is only open 4 days a week, which makes getting an appointment that much harder. Also, Kia doesn't do her own braiding for weaves, so my appointment will depend not only on when she is available, but when her braider is available, as well. She's been able to accommodate me so far, but I can see how this might become a problem if she can't get someone in to do braids on the day of my appointment. I will say that Kia is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to weaves...she's told me about options and "weave technology" (as I call it) that I didn't even know was available. She also put me on to a website that sells some of THE BEST hair that I have ever purchased: no tangling, minimal shedding, and it blends very well with relaxed hair. It's not that silky straight stuff, nor is it that coarse, rough stuff with exaggerated kink or texture that tries to pass as more "black" or "ethnic" hair. It's just really good weave that actually looks like you grew it, and for considerably less than the beauty supply store would charge. She's done two of my weaves already and they've been ok. I've left the salon cute, but not "strutting out the door to my own theme music" cute. When I leave the salon, I like looking/feeling like a brand new person. That said, the wow-factor isn't there for me, but it's still pretty good for the price. On my first visit, her assistant relaxed my edges with no base and burned THE HELL out of my scalp. I was not happy about that AT ALL. I thought about not coming back, but since it was her assistant and not her that did it, I decided to give her a pass and make sure that I insist on base next time. I expect a sew-in to last (and when I say last, I mean still look good with minimal effort on my part) for about 2-3 months. I don't know if we just haven't found what works for my hair and my personal style yet or what, but after about 6 weeks, it's time to head back to the salon. Part of it is because my head starts itching like crazy (I have very dry scalp) and the dry shampoo will only appease it for so long. The other reason is because after a week or so, my hair starts a gradual escape from the braids/netting in the back of my head. As we speak, all the hair in the back of my head (up to just about the middle of my head) is completely free from the netting. I don't ever recall this happening with previous sew-ins I've gotten, but this might be a deal-breaker, especially because I don't have a relaxer in my hair (and this mess gets kinky real quick!). One of the reasons I decided to do sew-ins and not glue-ins (which I prefer because it takes less time to install and I can get a fresh weave every month) is because of Kia's own hair. That mane is GORGEOUS, yall! Thick, shiny, healthy and LONG... and it's all hers. She told me that she doesn't have any chemicals in it either and that it got so long from wearing sew-ins. So I decided to do the sew-in thing to try to let my own hair grow healthy and strong, but instead, I've spent so much time trying to get it to lay down (and it's to the point where edge control and wet-setting just doesn't cut it anymore) and flat ironing it to death so that the textures match, that the benefits are outweighing the (in)convenience "cost" of having a sew-in in the first place. We're supposed to try a full weave on my next visit (if I can ever get an appointment), so hopefully this will cut down the amount of time that I have to spend tending to it. I've seen a lot of full sew-ins that look fake though (they sit up high on a girl's head and/or you can see where the track lines converge or end, completely destroying any illusion of this being her own hair), so I'm a little nervous. I'm picky and fussy when it comes to my hair and my number 1 concern is that my weave looks natural. I've seen some of her previous work and it looks good. I'm just hoping for the same outcome for myself (if I can ever get an appointment). We're all busy, I get it, but PLEASE make it easier for me to give you my money.

The photos show how my hair looked eight hours after my haircut. When I left the salon, I knew my haircut could have been better. When I arrived back home I was not expecting this disastrous haircut. I reserved an appointment for my hair to be blow dried, styled and trimmed. I set up the appointment three weeks in advance. Five days before my appointment, I changed my mind and decided to get a short haircut. I sent Kia a text message of the haircut I wanted on Monday. The appointment was on Saturday. She had plenty of time to know what I wanted. When I arrived at the salon, she was unaware of what I wanted. I showed her two different photos of what I wanted and decided to have the haircut on the second photo. The haircut was longer than the first photo . She took a photo of the haircut I wanted. She began to do my hair but did a completely different hairstyle. Longer up top, shorter in the back. The photo I showed her was nothing like what she did. When I told Kia I want it shorter up top she rushed through my hair. I believe she did that so the next client didn't have to wait longer. I still have longer pieces of hair on the top and the back. I also think she was offended that I didn't like the initial haircut. It seems like she doesn't do a good job at completing a hairstyle by looking at a photo presented to her. This was my second time going to Kia for a haircut. I am very disappointed. I will not return. I think Kia does not leave enough time between each client. During my first visit, I waited over an hour for her to cut my hair. The cut was nice so I decided to go back in hopes that I wouldn't have to wait too long. What's even worse, I've requested a similar hairstyle years ago at a cosmetology school and had way better results from a student.

Kia has been amazing. I have brought both my daughters to her twice now and I have been very impressed with her professionalism, cleanliness and expertise.
