I went in not sure what to expect but ended up having a pretty good experience. The doctor listened and talked through some options with me. They didn't rush the conversation which helped me feel a bit more confident. The nurse was nice and made sure I was ok while waiting. It's a simple office but they seemed to keep things moving well. Once upon a time back in 2018, I started having really nasty tooth aches due to a wisdom teeth issue. I continued to procrastinate like most living people out of sheer fear of getting a wisdom tooth extracted [that too 4 of them]. Years later after moving to the West Coast, I took a leap of faith and decided to visit Dr. Khu upon reading great reviews on Google/ Yelp and ZocDoc. My primary deal breaker with any doctor is any form of passive aggression or force and Dr. Khu was a remarkable change from most dentists I've visited during my lifetime in the US. Dr. Khu asked me to get an X-ray, called me in for a 30 minute session and went over the details in a clear and eloquent manner. He gave me a crystal clear estimate of how much time would the extraction take [30 minutes], how many days would I feel pain for [24 hours] and how much pain would I feel [soreness]. He even left it up to me and called out that the extraction could be delayed without further issues which was refreshing to see. I went ahead with the extraction and believe it or not and I wasn't met with any nasty surprises through the next 24 hours. Every single aspect mentioned by him regarding the extraction was true and that made a huge difference. I'm fairly certain that I'm coming back again for getting my other tooth extracted as well. If Dr. Khu's demeanor won't calm you down, the soothing Jazz playlists playing in his clinic surely will :-). Yes, I'm a fan ! read more

Went to Dr. Khuu for a teeth cleaning and an annual checkup. More specifically, the lower back part of my mouth has been throbbing because my gums are inflamed, red and swollen. The teeth cleaning was very superficial - he didn't floss my teeth and gave me a light polish. Afterwards, even though I had spent about 15 minutes getting mouth x-rays, we didn't cover them at all. And finally, when he checked my gums he didn't record the depth of them (unlike other dentists) and actually said they looked fine even though I can clearly feel and see that my gums are engorged. However, he did spend a considerable amount of time on trying to sell me a cavity fix and mouth guard. I found it especially odd that he has a perfect score on Yelp - I'm guessing it's because reviews such as this one are usually deleted. I'll take my business elsewhere thanks - and so should you. read more

After I said I did not even care if they are in the network, since I'd still want to do these fillings for my kid, she just hanged up on me. No kidding. Having recently opened at the hearth of Downtown Mountain View, Khuu Dentistry still smells new! This small office is very neat. Calling on a saturday I was able to make an appointment for the next tuesday, which was great. Dr. Khuu himself did the cleaning, x-rays and everything else. I've been to many dentists over the years, running the gamut from scary to trustworthy. My experience getting a cleaning & inspection with Dr Khuu was friendly and gentle, but lacked 1) an in-depth examination, 2) confidence in his basic hand-eye motor skills, and 3) information about the current state of my teeth. My teeth feel clean and there was no pain, so it wasn't a bad experience...but it wasn't a good experience either. First, his tech took a lot of xrays. I'm used to about 8 pictures, but this seemed much more. Second, Dr Khuu himself does the cleaning and he's not got the steadiest hands. He hit the back of my tooth with his cleaning drill hard enough that I thought it might have left a small pit, but thankfully not. Then later he dropped his scraping handtool on me. Oddly enough, he checked my gum gaps with that poky measuring tool without causing me any pain...hopefully he got good readings. Third, he didn't really discuss the state of my teeth with me; I didn't get to see the xrays, nor did he use the pick to check for any sticky spots that would indicate I needed a filling. So I walked out with clean teeth, without being upsold, he takes my insurance, and he was friendly and gentle. On the other hand, I got the feeling that it wasn't the most thorough cleaning or examination, and I don't feel like I know if there's anything I need to be working on with respect to keeping my teeth healthy. read more

I came to Dr. Khuu after not having been to a dentist in ~5 years. He's awesome, and far better than any dentist I've ever been to before. When I first got there, the hygienist polished my teeth, and then Dr. Khuu did a very thorough cleaning and exam afterwards. This level of personal experience was super impressive to me --- I'm used to having the entire cleaning done by the hygienist, with the doctor coming in only for one minute at the end to talk. Both him and the hygienist were very friendly and explained everything they were doing in great detail, so I always knew exactly what they were doing. Their office also had better tools than I was used to. He stuck a very small camera in my mouth and then showed my the photographs later to explain exactly what was happening, in addition to the x-rays. I found this really helpful in understanding what he was describing. I left with the cleanest teeth I've ever had. I feel so great! They also worked great with zocdoc.com, where I scheduled the appointment and filled out all the forms before arriving for my first appointment. Just fantastic! Dr. Khuu is very kind and gentle. I have a slight dental phobia and he is always very aware of my comfort level. Once while in the middle of getting xrays I decided I didn't want to finish the process. He said it wasn't a problem and stopped immediately. Sadly today 7/11/ 2022 at 2:10 pm I called Dr. Khuu's office to help my mother schedule a follow up appointment. The person that answered the phone said her name is Valeria. She was extremely unprofessional. She started out by saying my mother has never been seen their before. I specifically told her I was calling for dentistry. My mother has been seen by Keith Khuu many, many times. I told her she was not a new patient. Valeria insisted she wasn't in their system and she couldn't do anything else. I said I'd like to speak to someone else. She said no then I told her she was not being professional and of course turns it around on me saying I'm being rude. I asked for her name and she hangs my call up. I call two times again and she hangs up on me. The level of unprofessionalism is disgusting. I call again and someone else named Andrea answers the phone and I asked her to not transfer me to Valeria because she keeps hanging up my calls. Andrea was kind enough to help me. She did find her in the system. It's really sad to have unhappy employees that seem so miserable at their job. They can't be nice on the phone to patients. Makes the whole office look bad. I was a little scared of getting scammed by another dentist since my previous childhood dentist (who I've been seeing for 20 years) was such a joke. My old dentist once diagnosed me with 6 cavities within one year, with 2 fillings chipping off within 12 months or less. I would get hit with ridiculous dental bills (despite having dual coverage on two plans) and had to take x-rays every time I went in. My old dentist made me feel like I had the worst teeth in the world (which I don't) and I could tell they were overly aggressive with their diagnosis. That said, I was nervous to find a dentist I could trust, and very glad to have found Dr Khuu. I've been coming here for the last 2 years, and I find him trustworthy, reliable and very transparent. I really appreciate the fact that he takes time to explain what's going on and he even takes photos of your teeth (if there's an issue) to show you what he sees. I've had a filling done here and so far no issues or sensitivities (and they have thankfully lasted more than 12 months). He's gentle and thorough, and I don't feel like he's out to oversell a service you don't need. I highly recommend Dr. Khuu as your general dentist. read more

I came to Dr. Khuu after two disastrous encounters with two dentists who were either rude or incompetent. Dr. Khuu is simply amazing: Very friendly, very thorough, and knows his stuff. He's aware of the latest development in the field. Previous lazy dentist told me that I should just use whitening since he didn't want to spend time cleaning my teeth! Dr. Khuu is awesome. He tells you exactly how much it is going to cost before he treats you. He gives treatment suggestions for you to pick from and is very polite and nice to me. His assistants and Richard are very nice as well. I feel comfortable to understand that he tries everything for me not to feel pain. Honestly, I don't know who is better, Dr. Bavafa (from Berkeley - yes, too far and that's why I had to change) or him. I am so happy to finally find my dentist :) I have gone to him 6 times, finished my treatments and also did a teeth whitening at the end just the way I wanted to. I received my total bill and they were off by 36 dollars on the entire treatment (that's very good). No surprises on prices I had to pay before treatment. Your cost will vary very slightly if it will. I am so happy to have found my dentist! Next semester's appointment is already scheduled :) read more

Khuu Dentistry is awesome. In addition to doing a great job with my normal cleanings, Keith has had to do some heavy lifting of late, including replacing crowns and filling the cavities near those crowns. The crowns were in the back of my mouth, which made the job harder for Keith and scarier for me. Keith did a great job on all fronts. He did the work perfectly, and he kept me as calm as possible. I have had TMJ for over 25 years. This is the first experience that I have EVER had where my jaw was not sore or stiff after getting a filling. (I got 2 at this visit). Dr. Khuu is very knowledgeable about TMJ and was skilled in making sure that my bite was perfect after the new fillings so that I would not have any issues or pain with my jaw after my visit.
