They have a mix of MDs and DOs and ODs that work at these locations. The people here are very nice and competent. My first visit was in the Orland Park location with Dr. Chris Farley, MD; my second was in the Oak Lawn facility with Dr. Stephanie DiGiorgio, OD; and my third visit was with my daughter at the Orland Park facility with Dr. Nick Katsoulakia, MD - and all three were 5-star visits. Highly recommend this practice. In our visit with Dr. Nick Katsoulakia - we had a problem with my daughter where she woke up with what looked like Pink Eye, but the Palos Immediate Care Center determined that it was not Pink Eye but an ulcer on her cornea - the Care Center highly recommended we see an ophthalmologist. Armed with a list of ophthalmologists in the area, we chose the Krates Eye Center because I had been there before. With a bit of luck and a caring head nurse at the Krates Eye Center we were able to get an appointment that day even though my daughter was a new patient. So - from start to finish - we left home at 7 am for the Immediate Care Center, we were out of there quickly and headed up to the Krates office in the same building and lucked upon a nice head nurse/receptionist who took our information and presented it to the MD when he came in at 9 am, and we got a quick call back for a 10:30 am appointment for the same day! We were in and out of there by 11:15 am ... so all in one morning between 7 am and noon we had the diagnosis and the referral and the appointment and the cure - very impressed. These are nice people who act like they believe in the Hippocratic Oath and live the practice that way ... wonderful. They have us as patients for life.

I speak of the Orland Park location and had a brief conversation with Oak Lawn. My experience with Dr. Katsoulakis and Dr. O. Donnell were more than satisfying. However, it appears that there is no way to reach them if necessary after the office visit. I am sorry to learn that the aftercare appears not important. Perhaps that is the Krates structure.

I was told the message would be given to the surgical coordinator, who never responded. I was told I'd receive a call the day prior to the scheduled surgery to tell me what time to arrive at the surgical center. I did not receive a call and couldn't reach anyone to ask about it because it was a weekend. When I called the surgical coordinator early on the morning of the scheduled surgery date, I was told the surgery was not scheduled for that day, but rather weeks later. My paperwork from the office showed the scheduled date was, in fact, that same day, and when the surgical coordinator checked with the scheduler, she confirmed that the surgery date I was given was indeed that same day. I asked who made this error, and was told the manager would call me that day. I did not receive a call from anyone. When the surgical center called me to go over pre-op questions, I explained that due to an error made by Arbor Eye Institute, the date was wrong and I could not have the surgery done on that date. The person at the surgery center told me they have experienced date mix-ups from this office before. My experience with this office is that they are unresponsive, couldn't even get the date of the surgery correct, and no one takes responsibility. I'm forced to delay my cataract surgery while I look for a practice with a competent and responsive staff.

I told the front desk that I changed purses and inadvertently left my license in that purse, she said oh, I understand however our policy is you have present it at the time of service. She then picked up her cell phone and called who I am assuming was her manager to explain the situation. Now, from where I was standing I could hear the responses...this person, stated absolutely not, I had to have my drivers license or state I.D. right now or I could not be seen. I told the receptionist as soon as I got home I could upload my I.D. into the patient portal; her posture remained the same. She was told I have credit cards, that match my name, not to mention I completed all office forms with the same identification. Still no go...I certainly understand policy, however there has to be a little give. Why couldn't they just see me?? If I did not provide the I.D. they could have just not scheduled any further appointments until provided. The front desk was not friendly at all and not very customer oriented. I will not be returning

One was on the phone assisting someone, while the other was sitting at the desk but did not acknowledge us. There was no greeting, no "good morning," and no direction given. My grandmother stood at the desk for approximately ten minutes before completing the sign-in sheet without any assistance or acknowledgment. After she signed in, a staff member loudly stated, "After you sign in, sit down." There was no polite instruction, no "please," and no professional tone. In a healthcare setting, especially when dealing with elderly patients, courtesy and clear, respectful communication should be standard. Additionally, the same staff member loudly asked another patient across the waiting area, "Do you have your medical information?" Discussing or requesting private medical details in a raised voice across a room compromises patient privacy and reflects a lack of discretion. In a medical environment, confidentiality should be taken seriously. When my grandmother was taken to the back, several staff members appeared to be standing around chatting, moving between patient rooms casually, and engaging in what seemed like gossip or playful behavior. This created an atmosphere that felt unprofessional and inattentive. A medical office should reflect focus, organization, and attentiveness to patient care not casual socializing. This experience left me feeling uncomfortable about the level of professionalism in your office and concerned about the quality of care my grandmother is receiving. Respectful communication, privacy, and professionalism are not optional in healthcare they are expected.
